Love this local place for their ice cream and paletas! Very reasonably priced, a good place to stop after a meal at Marco's in the same plaza. They have a decent assortment of flavors, not quite as many as the big chains, but still enough to satisfy most tastes. The staff is friendly, the decor is inviting, and the sweets delicious!

WE ALL SCREAM...for ice cream! Hidden in the back of a strip mall is a colorful ice cream place. When you walk in here you feel like you are at a roadside stand. You will also notice that they love kids here. There are small mini picnic tables with umbrellas for the little ones. They also have a flat screen playing kids cartoons in Spanish. My little one was enjoying Kung Fu Panda 2, while eating an ice cream cone. Prices are very reasonable. You can get a single scoop in a bowl or sugar cone for only a $1.50. What a deal! They also have a ton of flavors to choose from. You can also ask for a flavor to sample first before making your purchase. If you're not into ice cream they also have some gelato and sorbet selections too. I saw a snow cone machine but it wasn't up and running. After much deliberation my little one went with a scoop of cookies and cream on a sugar cone. I had a little bite and it was really good. We also met Elisabeth and she was very nice to us. She fielded all of our questions and answered them with a smile. She told us that they had been open for about a month. I noticed they had some churros warming and Elisabeth showed us an amazing photo of a desert they could make with churros, ice cream & fresh fruit. We will have to save that for another day because we had an amazing big lunch next door at Papa Marcos. I did notice various hot sauces on the counter and a nacho cheese machine. I did not have the heart to ask Elisabeth anymore questions but I did see some deep fired pork rinds, so I'm assuming it is for that. I knew it wouldn't go good on ice cream. I also saw a sign advertising shakes ($3), smoothies ($4) and malts ($5). Again we will have to save this for another visit. So if you are in the area and looking for some ice cream from a great colorful small business then I recommend you pop in here. If you have kids they will love the kids size tables to enjoy there ice cream treats.

How sweet it is!The shop is adorable, both inside and out. First off, it's super colorful and inviting, with plenty of outdoor seating. Plus, the shop owner is so kind and gracious. AND the ice cream is awesome! I was surprised by how many dessert options and ice cream flavors they had to choose from. They of course had paletas (cool flavored popsicles, essentially), but they also had over 20 different ice cream flavors AND churros! I went with a cup of dark chocolate and cinnamon sticky bun, and both were great, but man oh man the cinnamon sticky bun was a knockout! Cinnamon roll in ice cream form, for sure. So, this place is wonderful in all aspects. One thing I'm not a huge fan of is location - I only ask that it were closer to my neck of the woods and then, Palterias Monarcha, I would be your number one fan! I happened to be in the area and upon seeing the ice cream signage, I knew I had to check the place out. I'm definitely glad I made the stop!

This is my GO TO ice cream shop in Waukegan. Not only do they sell delicious ice cream and paletas but they also have churros, sno cones and Italian ice! Not to mention hot food such as tacos and pozole on the weekends. It's a small family owned shop with outdoor seating and a small play area for kids to burn off all that sugar. Try the pistachio ice cream and Tennessee toffee, they are my favorites!

Wonderful and delicious! The location was so clean, the staff so kind, and the ice cream was great! They have lots of traditional Latino desserts, just like at home in CA and they tasted just as good. Definitely recommend!

Super sweet young lady helped us pick out popsicles like you haven't had before. I had vanilla rice pudding with rice pieces, DH had the best chocolate, son loved his real watermelon. Delicious! Can't wait to go back. Reminded us of Loco Pops in Raleigh, NC.

We are from out of town and saw this place last year when we visited papa Marcos next door. The woman who runs this place is kind, let us sample several flavors, and accommodated our children. Very good ice cream. Not bad on the price either.

Nice little ice cream shop. Really fun choices from above and below the border. I tried the Churros Reyenos - crispy rolls with ice cream on top and some fudge. Very reasonable prices, tasty food, immaculately clean.
