Ott Haus Pub & Grill

We were out hiking a few towns away, so picked Otts as our stop. Good beer, burgers were excellent. Mushroom Swiss, the Wisco, and a cheeseburger. Great prices for a half pound. Burger. Not much talking as theseJuicy burgers were devoured. They also have a 2 litter boot if your looking for a large beverage to share

Our family of 14 embarked on a mini spring break trip to Madison, WI and our first stop was at New Glarus, also known as Little Switzerland. This is a quaint and beautiful town with a population of just slightly overly 2,000. Some of the items that we ordered are the cheese curds, fried mushroom, fried cheese BLT, mini potato pancakes, Ott Haus burger, and currywurst. The latter three particularly stood out. The mini potato pancakes were well-fried and crispy. The Ott Haus burger was the 2023 Green County Burger Contest Winner and rightfully so! It was exceptional especially with the house-made bourbon bacon jam. The currywurst brought back fond memories of my business travels to Germany. We upgraded the burgers and sandwiches to come with fries and tater tots instead of house chips. Portions were generous and everyone was stuffed.The restaurant isn't very big but thankfully it was a Thursday afternoon so it was not overly busy and we were able to combine three tables to accommodate for our party size.Another thing to take note of is that they charge an additional fee for credit card users. I guess it's understandable since this is a small establishment in a small town. However, for our party size, the bill was easily +$200 and who would carry that much cash these days?

Best cheese curds I've had Wisconsin, perfect like breading and crispy. Attentive service and friendly service. Tried the best burger in the county... wasn't the best I've had but it wasn't bad. Definitely wouldn't order again but I'll be coming back for the cheese curds

Stopped in for a weekday lunch since I was in the area. I was impressed that they were voted for Best Burger in Green County in 2023 so opted for that. The Ott Haus burger was impressive. The bourbon bacon jam and the swiss cheese paired perfectly together although I also picked up maple syrup in the jame as well. The burger was substantial (1/2 lb) and cooked perfectly to medium. I will say the patty itself lacked seasoning but the overall flavor was on point. I appreciated the homemade chips that accompanied the burger. Beer selections of course were well represented by local new glarus brews which I appreciated it. Bartender was welcoming. A solid experience. Some say its best burger in the Madison area-I would disagree but a great option nonetheless

The POTATO CHIPS! Ok, I love fries, and I hate when a burger place offers a bag of chips, but these are homemade potato chips like I've never had before. I'm not from around these here parts. Dang they were good.Anyway, what a cool pub, nice and cozy. Burgers took a while but were worth the wait. Server was really nice.

We dropped in for lunch in New Glarus before we hit the New Glarus Brewery for a tour. We started with their cheese curds, which were pretty good, and then chased that with a Cowboy Burger for my wife, and a Gyro order for me. The Gyro was just average, the Cowboy Burger was pretty good.Service was okay, it's easy in and out - you can get to the back area by going through the door on the side of the bar, and exit out the swinging door to the street after you settle your bill.

We stopped in after our tour at the New Glarus Brewery, and I wasn't impressed with our what we had here. We ordered the following: Haddock Chowder, Oktoberfest Burger, Deep Fried Fish Sampler (loin, perch, bluegill), and Pumpkin Cheesecake. My favorite thing we ordered was the Oktoberfest Burger - filled with favorite German-inspired flavors that derived from the sauerkraut, swiss cheese, beef, and pretzel bun. However, I thought the French fries that came with it were of poor quality. The Deep Fried Fish Sampler was only okay - I did notice that one of the fish fillets had a muddy/dirty taste to it which made it less enjoyable. The Pumpkin Cheesecake, although extremely sweet, was super creamy and bursted with pumpkin flavor on top of a butter graham cracker crust. Yet, it tasted much like a cheesecake you would buy at a grocery store. If I'm ever in the area again, I probably won't be coming back to Ott Haus - I'll probably end up trying one of the bars across the street

Really good burgers! Baked pretzel was huge and good too. Country pub type atmosphere.

Came into New Glarus the week after Christmas and apparently many restaurants close this particular week. So, after many closed signs we found Ott Haus which was open. A small bar with your typical bar food menu but drinks were cold and food was overall good. Unfortunately, one person in our party wanted the Ott Haus burger but they were out. I found that amusing when a place it out of their namesake food option. But the kids were happy with their choices, the burgers were quite good and one chicken sandwich was good too. It's a low key place with New Glarus beer on tap so our party was happy.

Yes, I came for the winner of the Green County burger competition but I so enjoyed the experience of being in this warm, cozy and friendly bar. The burger is absolutely decadent, the most delicious burger I've ever had. I'm a foodie and believe me, this is superb. A taste sensation. Thank you for your warm welcome and we will definitely be back.
