It's fall ya'll! This was our first time visiting Old Homestead Orchard and it was a great experience. We specifically were looking for a place that was a little less packed than the really popular orchards in the SE Wisconsin area, as those just bring too large of crowds and super high price points. Old Homestead Orchard was very affordable, with lots of free fun outdoor activities for littles, along with a bakery that had delicious cider and donuts. We will be back for apple picking next year.. and maybe even sunflower picking, as they had a beautiful sunflower field as well!

I enjoyed picking sunflowers on this smaller farm today; minimal foot traffic and the freedom to roam around and select your own sunflowers. I was pleased to see the red sunflowers, my favorite. I ended up spending $30 on about 10 stems..not bad. There is also a cute apple orchard..i liked that they have photo opps for kids (or for those of us that still are children at heart). The general store was interesting but didn't offer much for food (if you're hungry)..chicken coop outdoors for the public. Cute place, I recommend.

I had a great time visiting the Orchard Store at Old Homestead today! As soon as you drive onto the property, you can tell that this is a family-owned business who takes pride in all that they have to offer on this small farm. Currently, you can clip your own sunflowers and pick apples from the orchard. Many of the sunflowers have passed or have been clipped, but they are still some good ones left! I believe it was $2 per stem clipped. Right outside of the apple orchard there are hay bails for kids to play on as well as other fun games for all families/adults without kids. For instance, there is a bags game in the shape of apples, an apple toss game and an apple life size connect 4. Awesome! Today inside of the shop they had a honey tasting. They had about 9 different honeys you could try. The Golden Rod was my personal favorite. Most of the honeys sold in the shop are locally made in WI. One of them is made right there on their own farm :)! They also sell apple cider and yummy candles. I got the log cabin one and it is burning in my apartment right now. Finally, I recommend stopping in the antique shop. There are tons of beautiful antiques (desks, tables, chairs, paintings) and all being sold at a reasonable price. In fact, the owner came up to my boyfriend and I and let us know that she is willing to take offers on some of the pieces so just let her know what we would like to pay! This place is only about 35 minutes outside of MKE and totally worth the visit. It is unique and intimate. Only thing to know is bring cash! They do not take cards unless you spend over $40. There is an ATM there but if you want to avoid the ATM fee, bring money.

If you are looking for a family fun afternoon and not worried about budget this is a good place. Not very happy with the price points and quantity of product. We were able to fit 11 apples in one bag and had to pay for people to even walk through costed us 14 dollars. Might just be me but 78cents per apple is quite pricey.

I did quite a bit of research to find a good u-pick apple place in southern Wisconsin, and decided to visit the Old Homestead. It's about a 25 minute drive out of Milwaukee, and well worth your time. You can either purchase fruit already picked, or you can head out and pick your own. They offer many varieties of apples (check their website or give them a call to find out what's in season at the moment) in addition to pears and raspberries. In the store, you'll find jams, popcorn, candles, caramel, and a bunch of other fun things to give out as gifts to friends. The woman working at the store (I believe she was the owner) was very friendly - even walked us down to show us exactly where the raspberries were, and which rows were the best for picking. If you're in the area (or even if you're not), try to find the time to make a trip over to this orchard - great apples, and great people! You won't regret it.

This place is really adorable. My boyfriend and I stopped in this past weekend in hopes of picking some of the raspberries, unfortunately they were all out, so we ended up doing the apple picking which was very enjoyable. I had never been apple picking before, so with this being my first experience, I was very pleased. They had plenty of signs directing everyone to which rows were available for picking (they had macintosh and gala apples available at the time). The trees looked to be in good shape, with lots of fruit ready for the picking. It wasn't as busy as I'm sure some other places could be, which I enjoyed so it didn't feel like you were being crowded or rushed. The pricing I felt was reasonable ($8/ person) and we were able to pick a decent amount of apples for the 1/2 peck bags that were given. The woman who was working the cash register was very patient when answering all my newbie questions as well. Good customer service. The rest of the grounds contained some sunflower rows, the berry patch, some pear trees, they had a small antique shop in the back that was open, as well as their bakery and small store with a variety of products. The simplicity of this place is what I think makes it unique. Great experience!

Like the other reviewer, I did a bunch of research to find a U-Pick apple orchard in the Milwaukee area. There are the enormous places that generally suck since they're so busy and then there's Old Homestead. I'm torn between four and five stars just because this place was so small. For a small place, Old Homestead does its job. There's U-Pick apples, pre-picked bushels and some veggies and popcorn. There's a detailed schedule on their website outlining when certain veggies and fruits are available to the public and when visitors can take tours of the chicken coop! Other than the small orchard and chicken coop (which was not available for touring when we visited), there isn't much to do here. There was a decent selection of jams, foods, etc. in the general store and that's about it. We only spent an hour here, but that was more than enough. If you're looking for a place to have tons of fun with lots of activities, Old Homestead is not for you; however, if you're looking for some apples and other specialty food items, visit and purchase to your heart's content.

We always would drive by this place but never stopped until a spur of the moment craving for fresh apple cider. It was past the prime apple picking time, but they had "gleaning" for a discounted rate. The apples were still pretty good as long as you were willing to walk out back and look for them-we definitely got our money's worth! We also wanted to get some pumpkins, which I'm assuming were also pretty picked over since it was later in the season. But we got two nice pumpkins (a lot bigger than I would usually get but a pretty good price-$0.25 a pound). The apple cider we bought was delicious. Wish they had a better honey selection though. The staff was friendly and I guess they usually make fresh kettle corn. I will definitely go back, especially to support such a very local business. I want to try picking raspberries next year and try to get there sooner for apples.

We absolutely loved this orchard. If you are looking for an orchard that is cozy, beautiful, and welcoming this is the place to go. We tried many other orchards in the area but found that they were all very corporate, they all had huge tacky attractions, and a bunch of crap that has nothing to do with apple picking or spending time outside. Old homestead is not like that at all, which is why we loved it! They are a family run business, they have absolutely delicious apple cider donuts, apple butters, ciders, and anything else you would want when u go apple picking. They also make honey, and if you want to support local this is a wonderful place to get your honey. We tried it and LOVED IT, it was so rich and fresh. As far as apple picking goes, their prices are very reasonable, their orchard is so pretty and has so many varieties. The people who work there were so welcoming, friendly, and genuinely fun to talk to. They are also super kid friendly, any kid would have so much fun coming here. This is the orchard to go to if you want to connect with your loved ones, enjoy nature, and get some delicious treats.
