Food: I've been here twice and both times the food was excellent. The menu does change, however each dish that I have gotten has been 10/10Service: wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable, making great recommendations on entrees and appsAmbiance: I have sat both upstairs and outside. This was our second visit and we were kind of disappointed compared to our first visit. It was our first time sitting upstairs, so it was nice to see that section, and it was quite fun and cozy up there!Their complimentary bread and butter are always tasty and delicious, but the chilled butter is a wee bit difficult to spread. We ordered the Roasted Bone Marrow to start and it was ok to me. This was a pleasant appetizer as bone marrow is not too flavorful as an ingredient, so it paired nicely to give some fatty flavor to the intense gremolata and jam on top with the crunchy crostinis. It was also served in the bone, so it was fun to pick out the marrow ourselves! For my main, I had ordered the Rigata alla Vodka w/ Chicken and it was just ok tasting. There wasn't much flavor, and it just felt like cream without much of the vodka or tomato flavors... no acidity! The additional chicken I ordered was also cold and kind of dry, so that was just disappointing. My girlfriend had gotten the Carbonara w/ Chicken and hers was also just ok. She has been to Onesto more times than me and she regularly orders the carbonara, but this time was not that good compared to the rest. It was just ok to me and not much going on. The sauce wasn't sticking very well to the noodles and they were kind of overcooked and mushy. Overall the food was not as good as the last time we were here and that was quite disappointing, especially because we both paid for the extra chicken and that is what we were served. Service was ok, but I was just disappointed with the food and would like to see more salt and acid added to the food instead of just cream.

Our server was good. Outside of that, everything was below mediocre.We started with the crab cake appetizer. It was weird & off-putting. What little "crab" there was, was stringy and didn't have the consistency of crab meat. I had the lobster mezzaluna. The "black garlic balsamic" just did not work with the pasta. There was also very little lobster in each mezzaluna. And once again, the lobster I could find did not taste like real lobster. The dish was very one note. For dessert I had the "seasonal" cheesecake. This season's flavor was "pumpkin pie" which tasted like it was left over from Thanksgiving 3 weeks prior. It was neither a good cheesecake nor a good pumpkin pie. My husband also commented that his pasta was "tough". He knows the difference between "al dente" and tough, overcooked pasta. There are much better Italian places in Milwaukee.

Onesto is our favorite pasta spot in Milwaukee. It's a great date night spot and classy inside. The pasta is what they are known for and I recommend getting! It's very affordable and worth every dollar. We've tried a variety of pastas and all are so tasty!

Elites, open table this joint because it is busy and booked. Won't make the mistake twice. We got sat down for a party of two outside in 16 minutes and all the inside tables were reserved already. The handmade pasta was delicious. They give you bread service if you request.The star is the Pasta. I enjoyed eating my Mushroom Asparagus Truffle Cream Sauce Pasta.

I've been to Onesto many times and I think their pasta is great. I love that the noodles are made in-house. I prefer sitting at a high-top in the bar area for lunch or dinner because it seems more lively to me. The dining room is quiet and darker but still very nice for a quiet meal.The photo in my review is the Warm Mushroom Salad with salmon. The mushrooms had a strong earthy flavor and the goat cheese and dried cherries paired well with them.

Unfortunately the food was underwhelming. I had the spare ribs with no flavor I even asked for salt to be brought to the table. The calamari app wasn't good. I was bummed. Won't be back.

I've had the pleasure of eating at Onesto 3 times at this point. Each time has been absolutely lovely. There has not been a single pasta dish I haven't enjoyed. Service each time has been attentive. Ambiance is always good for a romantic date. Definitely would recommend. Only caveat is if you have the option try to get a table over a bar. Bar is fine if it's all that's available but table seating is so much nicer for a date night.

Onesto is always a solid choice for Italian food. The menu isn't extensive but their homemade pasta dishes are to die for. I vacillate between a couple of pasta dishes but ventured out to try the carbonara.My issue is that I haven't had carbonara in so long I forgot that it's not my favorite pasta dish. Tried it and it was good and as I recall very rich in flavor. From a taste perspective should have stayed with the fusilli dish. Not their issue my taste buds.The cup of soup I had was incredible and if it's a special again I will order a bowl and skip an entree. Service is always impeccable at Onesto and who can resist sitting outside close to downtown on a warm summer day.

Stopped in to Onesto during a night in the Third Ward. We sat outside of the patio (first come first served) because inside was booked with reservations. The patio was cute and settled next to a small park where there was someone playing music. I ordered the vodka sauce pasta with chicken breast on top and it was incredible. For dessert we shared the key lime cheesecake. Would be back!
