I also took home a piece of the strawberry Schaum torte! Very tasty!!!
Chevapchichi appetizer - favorite thing I had! The feta, olives, onion, green pepper go great with the handmade sausage

Stopped by Old Town on New Year's Day with family for our holiday meal. I've been to another family restaurant in the Bay View area, Three Brothers, several times but this was my first visit to this establishment. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. If you're looking for a fine dining experience I would recommend this place. Entering a large neatly appointed dining room filled with Serbian art and family photos, we were seated at a large table to accommodate our party of eight. Tables were linen covered and folded linen napkins rested on an appetizer/bread plate, signaling we were going to experience a meal served with pride. Service was quick and good but we were the only party in the restaurant that evening. We ordered Serbian tomato salad, the tomatoes were fresh and meaty with peppers, onion and feta cheese. We all enjoyed it. As an appetizer we chose Chevapchichi, grilled sausages that were juicy and flavorful and kept us busy until our meals arrived. A bread basket was provided with fresh warmed bread and was refilled throughout our meal. Most at the table ordered burek, either the meat and cheese or the spinach and cheese variety. These were large, no one could finish their entire dish, but everyone loved them. I chose the goulash, a favorite dish my grandmother used to make. While it lacked the paprika flavoring that I enjoyed at Three Brothers, it was an excellent dish and the meat was fork tender, melting in your mouth. It was served with a scoop of mashed potatoes, two potato dumplings with gravy. Also included was a nice serving of green beans. We sampled several desserts, Serbian cookies, cherry strudel, strawberry palachinke and chestnut Schaum. All were excellent. Several in our party had coffee and their cups were refreshed several times. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed Old Town. Talking with the owner we learned a bit about the history of the family's time in Milwaukee and their restaurants. Milwaukee has lost a lot of good European restaurants over the years, hopefully Old Town continues to provide the city with good meals for years to come. The location is on the city's south side just off the freeway and a stone's throw from St. Josaphat's basilica, a parking lot is just behind the building housing the restaurant. Can't wait to come back for another meal.

We had a party for 55 people including kids and babies to celebrate my Dad's 90 the birthday! Everything was wonderful, including the beautiful setup, accomodations for our needs, yummy food with the great selection and presentation, and very friendly and courteous service. Also, the owner/chef Natalia personal attention and care to make sure everything was perfect! We really appreciate it, and will be back!

First the good points. The food was very good. Their bread was delicious. My wife loved the Beef & Cheese Burek. My chicken dumpling soup was only luke warm but good. My Veal Provence was very good. The problem was after we placed our order. Our waitress ( or maybe she was the hostess since she dressed so elegantly) did not follow up with us, so the owner worked hard to get us our drinks & meals.I realize they were busy but the three helpers need to work with the ownerso that the patrons get at least bread, water, drinks, soup & salad in a steady flow. This occupies the patrons while the cooks work on their dinners.

Old Town is a place where generations of familis have gathered to enjoy comforting, tasty food. My family is among them and it had been 20 years since we all gathered there for a meal together. The atmosphere is unchanged.Seriously, the old school dining room with a supper club/Elks Club banquet hall vibe is the same as it ever was. Even the bathroom wallpaper is the same, which is not great, since it is literally falling off the women's room wall.Decor aside, Old Town recently introduced a weekend brunch and we were all in as a family to try it for Easter Sunday.Service is warm and friendly, but the brunch offerings seem new to some staffers who could not answer questions about all the dishes. Also, if you know burek you know the table will wait when someone orders the dish, however, the service timing still was off. Appetizers and pre-meal cocktails came out randomly, often alone, leaving most at the table with empty spots in front of them. The food though was glorious as ever and worth every minute of the wait. The aforementioned spinach and cheese burek with egg was light, crispy and deeply satisfying to crunch into; served with an edible flower, it was also pretty. My family tried both lamb dishes on offer and loved them. Portions were generous and there were many take-home boxes requested. BF had the musaka and it disappeared quickly leaving him full and with a smile on his face. Next time I'm after the vegetarian musaka, since that is a rare delight.A cousin tried the baklava pancakes . They were huge and mega sweet but fun to share around the table. We all enjoyed the Serbian tomato salad. My dad sampled the sarma and loved it.We also enjoyed some walnut martinis and Serbian wines. They now also have a bar menu of small plates that is appealing. There's parking in back.

Not a place to rush in and out, worth it if you want to slow down, and you like an old school ambiance that doesn't try too hard, and you want slow cooked food. They definitely need help during busy seasons --or just not take in too many reservations than they can handle. That said, we prefer this place to the other Serbian place, and with all the chaos and imperfections, we return again and again. I love the liver and stuffed cabbage --others rave on about the burek and chicken dishes.

We got a Groupon here. The place was very spacious and cute. Our foods were mediocre. The foods seemed not to be fresh. It looks like they were reheating those foods. Additionally, the bread was okay. I would prefer they warm it up. The only thing I was somewhat enjoyed was the chevapchichi appetizer. I thought it was interesting. Probably not coming back again. Kinda disappointed for my first experience eating Serbian food.

Wonderful meal at Old Town. Burek and red pepper salad were delicious. Not your typical trendy restaurant in Milwaukee - authentic and a different experience. Will be back to try the Sunday Brunch.
