Apparently I didn't leave a review for Nuckleheadz after the one other time I had dinner there, so I had to leave one this time. I called in an order to go for a four piece cod dinner with seasoned waffle fries and cheese curds as an appetizer.Unlike so many other restaurants that serve crappy cornmeal breaded cheese curds that don't get crunchy and retain too much grease, the cheese curds at Nuckleheadz are true breaded cheese curds that get perfectly crunchy. I wish every every restaurant would serve the right kind like Nuckleheadz does, but I guess that's one of the things that makes Nuckleheadz special.Speaking of special, I LOVE it when the breading on fish has herbs and/or spices mixed in. It just gives the fish a little something extra. The herbs that Nuckleheadz puts in the batter they use on their cod (maybe their other fish too, I'm not sure) are phenomenal. I'm not usually big on cod, but I'm big on their cod because of it. Seasoned waffle fries are the king of all fries so that was a no-brainer.The weekly specials they post on social media often intrigue me and the hangover hash appetizer sounds fantastic (tater tots covered with bacon, nacho cheese, shredded cheese, and fried eggs), so I look forward to ordering that the next time I dine-in on a day that isn't Friday and I can't wait to get the fish fry again on a Friday with the best cheese curds around.

Went here for a birthday party and thought we were in the wrong place. This little spot is set off the back of what looks like somebody's house. The bar/restaurant is located in the back of the house in what could be considered the basement. Still, this place is not divy. The beautiful wood interior makes this place feel very warm and cozy. There is a bar area with high top tables and two dining areas with booths and tables, as well as an enclosed outside patio area. When we went, they had a nice fire going in their outdoor fire pit, which made for a nice place to gather and enjoy the night air. We did not have any food from here, only cocktails, but the bar service was fairly quick, and the drinks were good.

No warm and fuzzy service until the end but attentive. Friday fish fry: Cod - dry with hard crust, rye bread stale, Cole slaw was fair and the potato pancakes were very bland. Blue Gill - very good, sides the sameThe biggest no go here were the male patrons at the end of the bar. Yikes! Foul, loud, vulgar, and rude. They did finally leave when a family of small children came in. Until then the rest of us suffered thru it! No one should have to listen to that crap in an eatery. The bartender, manager or owner should have asked them to stop their loud vulgar talk. It was a clean establishment, well except for the mouths!!

I had high hopes going into it visit, but they didn't last long. It was a Friday night and I expected it to be busy, it was about 6:30 p.m. It wasn't and we were able to grab 2 seats at the bar. We waited a while to get any service from the bartender. We ordered beer, of which there was a very limited selection of cans or bottles, nothing on tap. We were also disappointed that they had a very limited menu, no burgers! I ended up with a chicken Cesar wrap and waffle fries. They were just okay, the wrap was pretty plain. It also took way longer to get than should have. It's doubtful that we'll be back.

The place was very busy with limited waitstaff, and yet, we got fast and great service! The food was amazing! We highly recommend everything that we ordered including the hangover hash (tator tots with cheese, bacon, and eggs on top), the bacon jam burger, and the California burger. Fun fact...both burgers were cheese filled juicy Lucy types (a friend simply order chicken tenders and he said there was cheese inside those too!) It was January when we went, but I could tell the place looks like it's lots of fun in warmer weather too with volleyball court, fire pit, and a ball field out back.

I've been to Knuckleheads a few different times and of late my impression is that it's starting a bit of a slide in the wrong direction. The first few times I stopped I went with the burger. I must say they do have a pretty decent burger. If I recall correctly the burger was on a lightly toasted brioche style bun. I enjoyed the burger enough to return a few different times for it.There have been a few times I've tried to stop at a time they were supposed to have been open, but I found them to be closed with no one around. Knuckleheads has kind of been a father/son type stop for me. Each time we've been here I'd sit at the bar with my 13 yoa and we'd order a soda and our food. These stops have always been in the early afternoon. On my most recent visit (a Friday about 4) we sat down at the mostly open bar and the bartender told us we were not allowed to sit at the bar because of my son. This had never been an issue before and I presume this particular bartender just wanted to keep bar space open for the oncoming 5 o'clock Friday drinking crowd. Needless to say, we moved to a nearby table off the bar. I thought the bar was on the cool side, but the bartender didn't share that sentiment. There was a box fan sitting behind the table we chose. After bringing us our food she turned the fan on and I had the pleasure of the fan blowing on me while I ate.Being a Friday evening I went with the Perch because I had heard good things. I was not at all impressed with the 2.5 fillets. I thought there was a mild fishy taste and they were in the fryer a little too long. I'll likely let a little time pass in hopes that Knuckleheads dials things back in a little before going back to give the burger another shot. I'll enjoy my fish fry elsewhere.
