Nino's Southern Sides

This was the new restaurant of the week and a bookmark so I stopped over for lunch. The place is very small and take out only because there is no dining room and only a small area with a few seats to wait for your order. I ordered the three piece dinner with dark fried chicken with dressing and red beans/rice that comes with a corn muffin. As far as dinners go for just under $18 it's noticeably small and the smallest soul food dinner I have had.The chicken was delicious and moist seasoned well with a light crispy coating and not greasy at all so pretty good. The red beans and rice were not canned because the red beans had that firm shell with an Al dente center. The red beans and rice had a Louisiana hot sauce flavor going on and good. The cornbread dressing was thick in texture and also very good. The mini corn muffin was very moist with a sweet corn flavor.Overall the food is very good but but the portion size vs the price vs the competition around town was a bummer. When I think of soul food I think of hearty filling comfort food.When I opened the box I was like look how small the fried chicken pieces are compared the the average fried chicken pieces. The corn muffin was a mini and the sides were in small shallow containers should not be your first thoughts/impression.

If you like soul food, there are few spots in Milwaukee that can match Nino's in Shorewood.The chicken, whether smothered or fried, is to die for. They serve it with really well prepared sides, from fried okra to perfected collard greens.The staff is warm & welcoming, & I always get a huge thing of sweet tea, cause it's ummy nummy.The clientele is diverse & knows that they've found some place special. I've had really great conversations about life while waiting on my orders, & even learned things about the city I never would have otherwise.It's a small location with a lot of customers, so plan on getting your stuff to go, but they do have some comfy seating & even TV while you wait.Oh yeah!! Their cobbler is out of this world too!

Poor customer service. Never again will I support this business. Ordered a three piece chicken and only received two, some of the side dishes were missing from the order yet the lady that answered the phone thought it was a good idea to yell at me. Owner claims my issue is really with door dash because they allowed me to select too many sided! That's not my issue that's a Nino's issue because that is your vender.

My family got a few sides catered from here recently - fried corn, collared greens, mac and cheese, cabbage, and baked beans. Each one of them was superb! The beans in particular were so so good - really unique flavor profile. Great packaging for the catering sizes. Can't wait to order from here for myself!

Yess yesssss YESSSSSS to their Sweet Potato Pie!!! I took a bite out this pie with some vanilla bean ice cream I got at the store and I praise the Lord Jesus Christ and Nino's Southern Sides for blessing me with this pie. I could hear the angels singing HALLELUJAH from up above... OOOOH is this a good pie! So flavorful, sweet, creamy, buttery-- just how I like it.I brought this pie, which I paid ~$19 for including taxes and fees, to my partner's Thanksgiving dinner and everybody was happy! Grandma loved the pie and all the aunties ate it up! I'm so happy with the pie here and will definitely come back for more!The ambiance inside seemed more for a take-out kinda thing. Great Food, Pleasant atmosphere, and good service. They take pride in their food, and it tastes like it! Their prices are reasonable, and they have convenient locations.

This is one of the places I chose to visit while working in the area. Small place it has a little hole in the wall vibe to it. I ended up getting a starter dish. Which was a fried chicken breast with red beans and rice and a cornbread muffin. Overall this meal was pretty good. I would say the best part of the dish was the cornbread muffin. Not to say that chicken wasn't good. And the chicken was crunchy and extremely moist. The only thing I didn't like about it was a little too salty for my taste. But for those who are not salt sensitive it would be perfect I guess. As for the Red Beans and Rice they didn't have much flavor.. Nothing like the Creole Red Beans and Rice that I'm used to eating back home. I'll be honest if it wasn't for the red beans and rice being so bland I would have given this place four-stars. Customer service was great and overall price of this wasn't too bad $10 not including the tip I left.

I wanted some Thanksgiving style food without having to wait for the holidays and this place hit the spot. The greens was delicious. Dressing you can't eat everyone dressing, but someone granny is in the back making this dressing. Dressing was phenomenal. The chicken was moist and seasoned well. My only complaint was the yams I just like my pieces smaller but that was nothing too big to complain about. I would recommend this place

The food is awesome. Great to supplement a homemade meal. We have gotten sides for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

IM HOME WITH THE FLU.... Can't nor don't want to create an Uber eats account. I did that once a couple years ago and they kept taking money out of my account.The one star I gave does not relate to the food it's because I couldn't get served and nobody answers the dang phone!!Doordash Schmordash... Just get your own freaking delivery guy people.
