After our favorite Chinese restaurant in Algonquin closed last year, we began ordering from New Peking. The food is generally good and the prices are reasonable. However, our last order (takeout) on Christmas evening was very disappointing. I ordered three large entries, a small entree with fried rice and four egg rolls. When we got home, I discovered that we were only given a small container of fried rice and ONE additional container of white rice. When paying $75 for takeout, I expect the order to be correct. Shorting is on rice when we ordered 3 large entrees is unacceptable.

Chinese is lacking in Crystal Lake. It only has a few places. New Peking is one of these. Good place for dining in. Though most people get takeout it seems. About the best option around here for Chinese. It's by no means authentic, but it will do. This was actually better than expected to be honest. Maybe because he had drank a lot before coming. We shared the Kung Pao Tofu. It's about $11 for a good amount. This had a fairly strong amount of spice. Good cooked tofu and not mushy. There was a large amount for the okay price. Good place around here for Chinese. It's certainly not authentic so don't expect anything like it. This is Americanized but it has actual flavor and prices are good for these.

Despite the negative reviews of this place we decided to stop in tonight, as you can really only make judgements based on your own experience. The best places to you can have the worst ratings for others. To each their own. Reason for stopping by, one-to try a new place in the area,two-we want to try and support various small business, and three-it was within a 15 min drive of us. I have been living around here for about 3 years now and I am wondering why I have never stopped by to try this place as I am alway on the hunt for a good chinese place. Look no further as I'd have to say they did a great job, food and service wise, we don't know why they had bad reviews as what we experienced seemed to differ. But everyone has their own opinions and standards/taste. Service 5/5: As the only people dining in at the time service was great, she also seemed to be able to keep up with to go orders pretty easily and managed the front all by herself. A hard working lady indeed, with a just the right amount of attentiveness we were able to pick out our own seats and then served promptly. Noticing that one of our phones seemed to not have service she brought over physical menus instead which was great, we didn't have to ask! Later she came back to take our order which was brought out as they became available as it seemed. Very friendly and nice waitress I would assume to be the manager or owner did an excellent job, and hard working. Food 4/5: Food was good, and we def left happy. We ended up ordering 2 appetizers and 3 main dishes between my fiance and I. He enjoyed the thicker cut on the beef sticks, some were tender others were a bit tough, but I always make the joke if the meat on a stick isnt a bit like jerky are you really at a chinese restraunt? The potstickers were the nice doughy kind, they came fried and we asked for chili oil on the side which tasted great with a nice little kick to add to them when mixed with the potsticker sauce. The pineapple chicken fried rice had chicken in every bite and the subtle pineapple sweetness, if it were up to me I would have added more pineapple but I love that warm "grilled" taste it has. The fiance couldn't stop eating the sesame chicken as it was tasty, he asked for me to take it away from him or he would have finished it all and been over stuffed. The broccoli came as nice big florets that were steamed to have a nice crunch but not be raw. Last, I ordered ma po tofu which was good. Big soft pieces of tofu in that typical brown gravy, Overall, only downside it was a bit pricy for portion sizes (about $57 for everything after tax), however, food mark up during covid has been awful for the industry, (meats are up by 2-5x the normal price) so we really didn't mind as we felt quality was decent. We have marked this down as one of our mew favorite Chinese places in the area. We will be back for more at a later date.

We decided to give this place a try tonight. I've seen some negative reviews, but also a lot of positive posts from the restaurant and a few better reviews. I wanted to supprt a small business that seemed to be trying to improve. We ordered delivery through their website, 41.00 with tip. We ordered pot stickers, orange beef and wonton noodle soup, one of my favorite dishes. The pot stickers had a very strong vinegar smell and taste. Not a good thing. And the poor stickers were pretty hard. The orange beef was very bland, the beef was mushy, and it was almost soupy. And my favorite noodle soup. Usually bbq pork, veggies and wontons, with ramen type noodles. This was boiled pork loin, literally a tablespoon of boiled cabbage and a small container with wontons that were tiny and stuck together, over undercooked noodles

New Peking has a bad rep! It's not half bad at all. I ordered them through GrubHub and delivery from Crystal Lake to Algonquin came much quicker than I thought it would...and faster than the App predicted! Nice delivery person and no issues at all with the packing of the items. Prices were great, got a ton of food for $25 including a free large sweet and sour chicken. What a sweet coupon! So that being said, the Chicken with Honey Walnut was alright. I'd probably skip getting it again as it was a bit sticky and not quite as creamy & saucy as I would hope with this dish. Crab Rangoon was a big order for $5.15 and very solid. Loved, loved, loved the pan fried pot stickers. They were huge, filled with meat and I'd get them again in a second. Sweet & Sour Chicken was another big portion and solid dish.Mushroom Chicken honestly wasn't the best but wasn't the worst in terms of flavor. I didn't mind it, ate the whole dish, but would probably skip getting it again.Though it isn't the best Chinese food I've had in my life is surely gets the job done and is a solid option in the far out 'burbs for deep fried eats.

Was previously enjoying their takeout while ordering via Toast app, but needed special instructions to be added and I called. The owner started high pitch screaming at me "not to confuse her" as I was ordering straight from the toast menu app. Options! I hung up on her as she was piercing my eardrum! Bye!

The food was terrible!!!! Started out with steamed potstickers, the six huge doughy things served with a sauce that tasted almost like straight vinegar. Followed up with egg foo young that was swimming in a puddle of oil with some dark colored gloopy stuff in the middle that stretched out when I poked it with my fork. I ate a few bites but couldn't stomach it. Wish I had not placed a takeout order when I first arrived. The waitress brought me the takeout and asked if I wanted the leftover egg foo young to go. When I said no, she asked me why. I told her I didn't like it and she replied next time you order something different. I thought I am never coming back. At the register I told her something was wrong with the egg fu young. She thanked me for bringing it to her attention, but didn't offer to remove the charge from my bill. The other to go orders were Mongolian Beef that included two scoops of fried rice and Chicken Lo Mein. Everything seemed to have the same colored sauce. I have never seen fried rice that was this reddish color. It was hard as a rock so I softened it by adding a bit of water, but it was so awful I threw it out. The beef was on the chewy side and the gravy was mediocre. The lo mein noodles were hard as if they had been fried. Every lo mein dish I have ever eaten was served with soft noodles similar to spaghetti, Also, chicken lo mein is served with a light delicate sauce containing fresh vegetables. This version had very few tiny vegetables and this reddish sauce. The chicken was okay. The egg rolls were probably the best part of the meal, but there wasn't much filling. They did have a nice crunch to them and weren't greasy. The only good thing I can say is the waitress was very polite. That being said I feel that I threw away good money and will not be returning.

BIG NOPE! There were MULTIPLE dead flies in my soup.. we ordered over $100 worth of food and tossed all of it out of caution. Who knows what other food safety issues are going on in their kitchen.
