I've been wanting to try New Fortune for some time but it's about an hour away from my house. Finally decided to make the drive to celebrate my mom's birthday. We were so disappointed when we arrived around 4:30 and found out they weren't taking any walk-ins as they were booked with reservations later. After finding out how far we drove, the owner said he could take us as along as we were done by a certain time which was no problem for us. We were so delighted they were able to get us in (it is too bad the restaurant was empty except for one other table so not sure how much business they lost by not taking walk-ins; though it does seem like they do a lot of take out business). All of our dishes were so good. We will definitely be making the hour trip again soon!

Journal Sentinel gave New Fortune Asian Cuisine a "Best in Milwaukee" although such accolades come and go. At noon on a Tuesday, we were the only ones there, apart from a lovely 4-year old "Julie", busy folding napkins. The wait staff was very friendly, the restaurant clean, the choices numerous. We ordered an appetizer of six dumplings, an order of Mu Shu Pork and another of Hung Sue Chicken. To go we chose Chicken Fried Rice and Pork Egg Fu Yung. For dessert we tried the advertised ice cream balls in pastry. $63 was the total, a decent price because the servings were very generous. We would not order the small scoop of ice cream wrapped in dough again for $5. There are many Chinese/Asian restaurants in the greater Milwaukee area and it's not possible for a restaurant critic to have tried them all. You, however, should try this one, and let us know what you think.

My parents and I came here for a low key birthday dinner after tasting new fortunes fried rice during festivals over the years. We ordered fried rice, honey walnut shrimp, egg foo young, and sweet and sour chicken. I appreciated that you can add an egg roll and egg drop soup to entrees for a small up charge. The fried rice was yummy, but I didn't love the chicken I ordered and when I asked my dad about the honey walnut shrimp he said it was "interesting". It didn't look that great so I decided not to try. My mother enjoyed her egg foo young. This could've definitely been a case of ordering the wrong thing- but the fried rice, egg roll, and egg drop soup were enjoyable. Service was fine.

We have lived in the area for a couple years now and always hear about the rewards this place has received for being the "best" in Milwaukee area. Very disappointed and do not see the hype. Usually we go to mom and pop shops for food and decided to try this instead. Nope never again! The atmosphere inside, staff were friendly however it felt very dark and cold and we asked to move outside. The outdoor patio was not set up completely. It felt bitter staring at folded down umbrellas during the meal. The apps were ok. The food was very slimey and rice brand tasted like the minute rice style from a box or heated up in the microwave. The schezaun chicken was a platter (no decorations on it) and was FULL of celery.. probably more celery than chicken. Chicken was ok, the sauce tasted like from a seasoning mix packet. The egg roll tasted like they were frozen and burnt

Last night was our second time to this delicious restaurant. The food and the service are excellent. Eric, our waiter last night, was attentive, cheerful, and his customer service was terrific. Thank you.

Came here recently for a Saturday evening date night and was pleased with the experience. The interior is charming and lends itself easily to a date night or evening out with friends. The service is top notch--prompt, friendly, and efficient. We began our evening with one of their specialty cocktails. It's worth noting that though they have 5 or 6 specialty cocktails on their menu, they don't have a full bar and those are the only cocktails they offer. Their cocktails lean toward sweet with most featuring vodka (not my fave). I got some sort of blue loveliness. It was sweet and fruity. For an appetizer, we got their crab rangoon. It was good, though more cream cheese than crab. Dinner entrees come with egg drop soup and an egg roll, which is a nice touch and both of which were good. For my entree, I got the sesame chicken which was also a solid choice. All in all, it was probably more of a 3.5 star experience than 4 but due to the good value and amazing service, I rounded up!

Maybe the most tasteless Kung Pao chicken I have ever had! Color was bland as was the flavor and no choice to spice level! Peanuts were soft and lacking the usual vegetables and loaded with bamboo shoots. Not from the area so no need to worry about going back!

We have ordered carry out food several times, but decided to eat at New Fortune. The food was fantastic, my husband had fried rice and 2 egg rolls; I had a mixed seafood dish - both were top notch. We were seated immediately, and had a very friendly and quick waitress, who was very busy, but we never had wait. She provided excellent service. The restaurant is nicely decorated and very clean. I will be back, we had a terrific meal.
