godzilla roll was tasty but the tempura shrimp clearly had been sitting out for a while and was not crispy. lots of tobbiko on top and not spicy. i liked that it came with a lot of sauce on the underside of the sushi. service was quick and our food came out in 10-15 mins

Love Muramoto's speed of service and yummy fresh food. I will say their rolls fall apart on pick up (Fin Sushi does a way better job at symmetry and polished-ness) but still love Muramoto for the more gourmet options and smooth rice (albeit vv high rice ratio) Maki combo chef's choice did not disappoint today with a surprise Tarantula (my fav!), Seabass and salmon-avocado inside out roll. The latter was incredibly smooth and melty! Almost just all tasted like one thing which was awesome. I highly recommend their masago mayo on the side, to die for. We also tried the Snow Crab sashimi off the seasonal menu today and it was SO fresh and juicy, slightly chilled, so good. A generous amount for the price paid I think

Seating is a bit crowded, but the ambiance is nice--nice lighting and decoration. Vegetable tempura was a bit disappointing (lotus root but no sweet potato?), but batter was good. Sushi was well-rolled and tasty. Solid food but a bit pricey.

It's been a few years since I was here and I had a wonderful experience, I have to applaud Muramoto for getting some great servers and improving their menu the past several years. We had amazing nigiri, classic salmon and tuna rolls, the calamari; the slaw salad -- all of them I highly recommend. The pomegranate martini was amazing, though a bit small. I certainly recommend saving up for a night here, as our tab was over $100, but we had delicious food and a great window side table.

Muramoto is so good! A great spot for sushi in Madison.Came for lunch on a Saturday around 1pm. It was pretty full, but we were able to grab a spot at the sushi bar. Food - 4/5A good variety of sushi - rolls, nigiri, sashimi included! We got the Maki Combo and some salmon nigiri. Most of the rolls were delicious! I wasn't a fan of the one with salmon tempura, the fish didn't seem super fresh. Ambiance - 5/5Beautiful space!Service - 5/5Our server was super efficient. No complaints :)

Great sushi at a great price in Madison! My partner doesn't like fish/sushi, so I took my friend up on a sushi date to her favorite local spot when visiting.I love the area! And to match Muramoto has a stunning interior. Dark and wood elements, it feels very peaceful and upscale. They offer a variety of nigiri, regular, and specialty rolls - all pretty standard pricing. But the real winner? Their Sushi Combos. These are chef's choice of the categories, with a few different combo options. We went for the Maki Combo: 3 rolls - 1 regular, 1 inside-out, and 1 special roll (all chef's choice) for $25. That's a heck of a deal considering some specialty rolls are $16! We ended up getting the Rainbow Roll as our specialty roll, which had a ton of fresh fish and would have been our choice anyway. We ended up adding the dragon roll as well which was delicious and saucy. Service was kind and helpful - when I forgot my bag at the restaurant, they held onto it for me until I could come retrieve it. Try their sushi combos!

My dining experience was an absolute delight! From the moment I ordered the House Salad with ginger dressing, miso soup, shrimp tempura roll, and spicy coconut shrimp with rice, every bite was a testament to freshness and quality. The flavors were nothing short of amazing, elevating every dish to a delightful level. The service was exceptional, and the staff's warmth and attentiveness truly enhanced the meal. The standout was undoubtedly the shrimp - plump, juicy, and perfectly cooked. Although the Spicy Coconut Shrimp wasn't as fiery as anticipated, its bold flavors and generous portion were nonetheless impressive.Overall, it was a fantastic culinary journey marked by freshness, impeccable service, and delectable dishes. I'll undoubtedly return for more of these delightful flavors and top-notch service.

Party of six so we were able to reserve the back room. We started with Asian slaw, miso soup, tempura shrimp. Calamari and edamame. Excellent choices. We devoured them all. Next came the sushi which was shared by four in the party. Ecuador roll, smoked salmon roll, ugragi roll and tarantula roll. It came out on a platter nicely arranged. It was very good. Two of the party weren't sushi fans and ordered Yakiniku beef short rib. The big pieces of beef were very tough and hard to eat with chopsticks. I don't recommend this dish. The slow down and lychee martini cocktails were worth going back for. It was a good thing we checked the bill before adding a tip as it was already added to the bill as a 20% large party charge.

Food 4/5 - The Maki Combo had 3 rolls with salmon in it. I love salmon but I would have liked to try different kinds of fish. Soft shell crab roll was delicious! Service 5/5 - The waiters and servers were nice and attentive. Ambiance 5/5 - Nice and cozy interior. Tables were a little bit close to each other. Overall, I recommend going to Muramoto for good sushi in the Madison area!

Unfortunately, I feel it is time to finally update my review and downgrade my rating. The sushi continues to accumulate more and more rice to each roll, putting in on par with some of the cheaper, to-go sushi joints in Madison. This is a shame, because Muramoto is supposed to be one of the high-end, fancier places for sushi in the city. And once they really were. But with all of the rice in your mouth, you'd probably never know. There are other sushi options in Madison that I've reviewed that aren't as fancy per se, but they're just as good and they give you more fish to rice. Sadly I'll have to be heading to these places instead.I don't really plan to come back any time soon as a result, but they still get three stars because their prices haven't gotten outrageous like some other places and their cocktails are actually still incredible.
