What an amazing restaurant! A friend of ours, who also owns a Mexican restaurant in another city, recommended Mexico En La Sangre to us, so we made the trip down to Janesville and it was so worth it! My friend had the carnitas dinner that included rice and beans, and I had the Discada (mixed meat) Quesadilla and Deshebrada con Rajas (a sopes topped with steak and poblano pepper). Both were amazing with the flavors and textures. I highly recommend going there and getting some authentic Mexican street food.

I was here 2 months ago. I'm sorry I forgot the names of the food I ordered. This is a new restaurant in the area and is very authentic. I met the owner and he is super nice. His son was taking orders at the counter. He did forget my tamale which I noticed after I got to where we were staying. I went back and he offered me a free soda when I picked up my tamale. Check your bag to make sure it's all there. They have a few tables inside. No outdoor dining. It is decorated very attractively. I highly recommend you try this place.

I knew this place would be good when the restaurant was full at 4 pm and we were the only non-Hispanic people there. I was not disappointed. The appetizer came with a smooth jalapeño green sauce and a red sauce that had the smokiness of chipotle with the heat of habanero. Delicious. I have a bad dairy allergy, so I ordered something that wouldn't require a lot of modifications: fish fillet. I was not disappointed. What I got was three golden-brown patties with lime and picante sauce that would put British-style fish and chips to shame. The fries were nice and crisp, the salad had a delicious wine vinegar dressing, and the rice was solid. The family running the restaurant was awesome, too. The owner's son took our order and checked on us frequently, easily outperforming servers at other restaurants twice his age. The owner himself came out and checked on every table to make sure everyone was having a good meal. Overall, we had an excellent experience. This restaurant is a 25 minute drive for us, but we will definitely be visiting again. It's that good.

I will be totally honest, once our food came out- my last thought was to take pictures. Through the windows of the store we saw 2 tables filled with food and happy people, we knew we needed to stop. Upon entry we were greeted with a big, masked, smile by the owner. We grabbed a menu and saw some of our favorites, we ordered tacos de carne asada, gorditas and a tamale. We also tried their Agua Fresca in piña (pineapple), as well as horchata. I pulled out my wallet in anticipation to pay, but he insisted that we sat and enjoyed our food before we did. This is one thing that really stuck out to me, the atmosphere of Mexico En La Sangre is so welcoming- they do a great job of making you feel at home. I think part of this is due their wonderful family working behind the scenes.Once our food came out we dug in. I was amazed by the quality of the food, everything was homemade and delicious. The agua frescas were beyond tasty, I've never had anything that tasted so fresh. I feel most places use an artificial flavor mix to achieve their drinks, but just by tasting a few sips I could tell they too were made with love! Below I have added a photo of our agua de horchata, complementary chips and salsa, as well as a gordita de picadillo. Thank you, Mexico En La Sangre, for bringing a bit of home to Wisconsin. We will definitely be returning in the future, and I recommend you do as well!

Ordered lunch for the family today. Steak burrito, chicken quesadillas, red tacos, and shredded beef sopes. The family all agreed that Mexico En La Sangre is our new favorite for Mexican cuisine. I appreciated that the owner's young boy was working in the dining area during the busy lunch service. He was very polite and was attentive to all of the patron's needs, getting refills, and selling extra bottles of soda. Good Job young man.

They have a kid to take your orders, so the order taking is pretty fast. No suggestions, if you dont understand the menu, you just dont. And if you have a question, the kid is on the phone. So he wont hear you. Chips and salsa? Forget about it, they only have chips. You want a water? Dont worry, they'll charge you. And everything is overpriced in my opinion.
