Meli Cafe Pancake House & Restaurant

Mine and my family's favorite restaurant! We come here about 6 -8 times a year, for probably the last 5 years (pre-covid). Likely more if it was open in the evenings. We are usually a party of 5, so we do wait on weekends, never on a week day. The food is delicious, they cater to gluten allergies and portions are huge. I alway take half my food home to snack on later or the next day. The prices are reasonable, service is very good. Everything is clean. Atmosphere is welcoming and warm. My favorite meal is the Create your own skillet - potatoes, monterey jack, bell peppers, mushrooms, bacon, eggs over medium, with gluten free pancakes. Hubby loves the Meat skillet with hashbrowns, eggs burnt and gluten free pancakes.My teen son (14 - 6'2") want diabetes, so he loves the Oreo Pancakes. He is the only one in our family who can actually finish them in less than 25 minutes. Another son loves the Big burrito. My third can't decide what his favorite is. Highly recommend.

A nice but busy cafe. They don't take reservations so it is a first-come-first-serve policy. They do move fast, however, so go and grab a number.The food was good and the portions were huge (we had to take almost half home). The server is way too buys but she kept her smile and small conversations.We got both spin-off versions of classic foods and we were really not disappointed.Might be back but will definitely recommend for others wanting a ncie brunch in Racine!

I had a lovely experience at this restaurant! The ambiance of the restaurant was delightful, cleanliness throughout, and welcoming atmosphere. The service was great, and I especially enjoyed the fresh coffee and delightful pre-serving donuts. While the chicken and waffle could use a bit of improvement, the Mexican frittata was delicious, and the Florentine was filling and satisfying. Overall, a pleasant dining experience as always.

While waiting 15 minutes for our waitress to bother herself with our table, we sat and watched the other waitresses bring a plate of cute little sticky doughnuts to every other table shortly after people were seated. I wondered... perhaps they know the owner; maybe they're a local politician; maybe they're regulars here; do I smell funny? Our waitress arrives... "What can I get you?" Hi, can we start with Mimosas? "No, we don't have Mimosas here; what else would you like?" Water will be fine. Let's place our orders. The food arrives on the serving tray with the orders of the table next to ours. Hard to screw up breakfast; however, when the staff is terrible, for some reason the food tastes terrible as well. Both water glasses empty with no offers of a refill, but she was quick to bring the bill. An awful experience. Never again!

While perusing their menu, I got the feeling that Mel's would be just so-so. It looked like they were having an identity crisis among Mexican, Greek, and American brunch or bar. I'm always a bit wary of restaurants with such an extensive menu. Well, I was pleasantly proved wrong!I ordered the El Fuego Burger, cooked perfectly medium and stuffed with jalapeño peppers and other spicy stuff. I took out the buns (for keto) and just ate it like steak, with the onion and tomato that also came with the burger. I skipped the lettuce, which was oddly wilt-y, unless all the other fresh ingredients. The burger also came with a soup, and I chose the beef and rice. Again, this sounded odd, but I wasn't feeling the cream of broccoli or the chicken noodle. So surprised with the chili flavored goodness! (though I only had a bite or two for keto)Hubby got the Greexican Omelet, with a mash of gyros meat and chorizo. It just sounded so odd that I wasn't even going to try it, until I did. He ended up having to give me half. (which we took home and I had the next day, as the portions were huge!) This also came with 2 pancakes bigger than my face. Wow!Thanks for the great surprise and delicious lunch!

This place is one the best breakfast restaurants in Racine. Little pricey, but portions are really good. Omelettes are giant and very tasty with consistency. I go on a regular basis.

Good service and good breakfast. Atmosphere is as a pancake house would be. We had no wait even though the parking lot looked full.

Every time we ordered here we were not disappointed food taste great one occasion I got gyro burger and another time I got Greek salad both times very pleased .

Food is absolutely delicious, service is welcoming and great every visit. Ambiance is very clean and everyone is friendly.

I have always liked this restaurant. Today on reviewing their new menu I saw several very good looking new additions. I ordered crepes with fresh fruit. Unfortunately they have not perfected the making of crepes! I was served thin pancakes folded in quarters. Crepes should be very much thinner!Our waitress Annie was very attentive and did a great job of caring for us. One other MAJOR problem was an employee sweeping the floor with a broom the entire time we were eating. This is highly unsanitary and disgusting!! Who wants floor dirt flying in the air while eating. Save that type of cleaning for after you are closed!!
