It may look like a gas station in the middle of nowhere, but it's really the premiere cheese, sandwich, and ice cream shop located conveniently near the Lake Summerset community. When we get the hankering for a deliciously creamy Cedar Crest ice cream cone or a sandwich on our way home this is our favorite stop. The dining area is tiny with only a couple of tables, but it is decorated in cheery red and white and has a country charm. The girls who work here are friendly and love to chat and get to know all their customers. I've always come here for the ice cream cones (loved the Graham Central Station flavor with graham flavored ice cream with graham cracker swirl and chocolate coated candy pieces!) but they advertise that they carry over 70 kinds of cheese! Now that's pretty cheesy!

I admit it, I just couldn't help myself. This cheese store is located in an old Conoco station, with the original triangular sign repainted with the store's name. There's a vintage gasoline pump on the old gas island, complete with a globe that's been painted to match the old sign. I was drawn to the shop for being a repurposed filling station - but it turns out to be a cute little cheese shop that also sells Cedar Crest Ice Cream. Yum!They offer lots of cheeses, although they don't make their own cheese here or even nearby. Many of the varieties are made in Wisconsin (Yea!) from Schullsburg, LaValle and Monroe, just to drop some names. The owner sliced and cubed some Colby (one of my favorites) to munch on while driving to my next stop. I'll be honest with you, I wouldn't drive out of my way to buy cheese here because I can find most of these varieties at cheese stores back home. That said, if I lived in the area, this would be my go-to source for cheese. It also just happens to be on state highway 75, which I travel on a semi-regular basis. On that note, I will be back to visit the Conco-gas-station-turned-cheese store next time I'm driving through Davis.

Greet your customers! I've been there twice and didn't get waited on either time. At least acknowledge that I'm there!!! The first time I forgave you. The second time, I'll go somewhere else.

Well, I live in Davis. Wonderful little ice cream & sandwich shop. Very personable girls. Always trying to do their best. Soup always on tap. I buy probably once a month in large quantiles as our family likes the cheese and sausages. Can't beat it when Megan, who owns the shop, comes from a cheese making family. She knows her cheese ! Please try it anytime. You'll enjoy. Ice cream to die for.

I am a local, trust me when I say ONLY buy cheese or ice cream here. Don't trust them to make a good sandwich. I had a tuna sandwich from here and puked my guts out shortly thereafter. Go to the bar downtown if you want to eat good food.
