Came here as a reciprocal club member from the LAAC in Los Angeles. I came here for dinner and was impressed by how delicious the food was. They started with a fresh bread platter. Then I tried their Caesar salad and I appreciated their liberal use of whole sardines. Their scallops were presented so beautifully and were some of the best tasting scallops I've ever tried. The club is beautifully decorated and I loved the wallpaper. Only negative for me, was that as a women person of color, I was the only diverse person there. Very different than my Los Angeles private club. No one was rude, I just felt uncomfortable as the only person.

We had a lovely work event at this most exquisite private club. We had a room for our party so it was very intimate and cozy. The venue is beautiful. Tastefully decorated and very eloquent. The service was outstanding especially considering we had a large party. The menu was customized with varying and delicious choices. I would highly recommend.

We had an exceptional experience here recently, thanks to a friend that is a member! Note: This is a membership-based club and dining is only open to members and their guests.AMBIANCE: We visited in early December, so the space was absolutely decked out in holiday decorations. Even without the holiday decor, the space shines - eclectic wallpaper and colorful decor, unique furniture and lighting that makes for a truly special atmosphere.SERVICE: We had a reservation in the Clementine, and our member friend was greeted by name before we even got to the check-in desk. We had friendly, attentive service throughout our meal!FOOD: The Clementine menu offers classics you can expect to see year-round, as well as rotating classics. Of course, the seasonal offerings caught my eye! Tip: You can get some of the items they offer in the more casual bar in the basement up here! We ordered their famous cheese curds from that menu for starter. We split a wedge salad which was delicious and crisp. For dinner, I ordered the Elk Osso Buco and it was divine. Slow roasted to perfection and falling off the bone, unique vanilla parsnip puree, and delicious coffee roasted carrots complimented perfectly.Others in my party ordered the filet steak which was cooked to perfection, and the Apple Cider Glazed Pork Belly - which was maybe our favorite of the night with its bright Asian-inspired flavors and kohlrabi pear slaw.We were really indulging, so ended with creme brulee and the dark chocolate banana mousse dome. Both, again delicious. Top-notch fine dining experience here - I loved every bite!

This is a members-only club that has rental rooms, a bar, and a restaurant for its members. I visited this past weekend for my mother-in-law's birthday dinner as my brother-in-law is a member.Unless you have paid for parking through the club you'll have to find street parking or park in one of the nearby ramps, which is a little annoying. The ambience once inside, though, is really fun with numerous different decorations throughout each of the areas and rooms. And the service is great. The bar and restaurant are on the third floor. We started in the bar area and ordered just-okay cheese curds and a few drinks prior to dinner. Most of the family ordered the special old fashioned on the menu. Interestingly enough, there was not a consistent taste between them. I wonder if there were multiple bartenders or if they ran out of ingredients. Either way, the one that was different was not good. I ordered a wine and it was just fine.Once seated for dinner, we were given a dinner menu with both regular and rotating food options, and a few specials were verbally delivered. Unfortunately nobody was really blown away by their food. The baked cod fish fry was so dry my partner and I couldn't eat it, but at least the crab bisque and the baked potato were good. The fried cod had too much breading, and the person who ordered the medium rare steak frites was disappointed to receive steak that was actually medium. The nduja toast that came with the octopus item was the saving grace for what we ordered as it was delicious, although we couldn't find the octopus in our dish. The lemon creme brulee is amazing and even though the beignets are actually just cinnamon sugar donuts, the kids loved them. There are so many better restaurants in Madison that I'm not sure we need to visit for dinner again. The membership may be worth it for people who want to rent out some of the various rooms or maybe some of the other menu items are better, but we certainly do not see a need to join. It was fun to be able to experience the different areas and I can see why people may be interested in visiting. Especially when you can sit on the outdoor patio overlooking the capitol building, which we did not do in the cold weather.

This can't be a 5 given two things: (1) an incident surrounding a perceived racial response and my issue with that whole hubbub was the response or lack thereof from Management. (2) After I ended the membership no one was interested in knowing my name, speaking or the usual warm welcome. Plus, when I first joined the Chef was agitated that I had a question for him. Yep, didn't hide his contempt. Now on to what works:Y'all I wish I joined when I lived across the street. The annual XMas party, The attention to service (excluding that one incident with the chef in the lower level) this really shows up for billing & monthly minimums. Every time I had a question - I got a prompt follow-up via email and things were managed with attention to detail. Their ability to help the kids plan events like surprise parties, gatherings, et alThe Mother's Day brunch was exceptional given the COVID conditions we were operating within. The alternatives pulled together to help us gather without grouping together or co-mingling with "the CoVID" was most appreciated. They brought in snow globes, lowered the pricing and meal minimums for the snow globe once membership made it known the prices were steep. The annual dues and assessments can hit but the space, options for dining & entertainment are things I miss right about now and would love to revel in at this December 2022 moment. Lastly, the reciprocal places that can be utilized with membership really make the cost a value, for me. You may not agree but hope you get to experience things for yourself and enjoy. If you find something falling flat - just let someone in leadership know and see how it goes.

I went here last week for a business dinner, a guest of a member. We ate in a below-ground room that was full of empty tables, hollow and echoing, and they seated us smack in the middle at a two-top. The entire time there were only two other tables that dined. It was uncomfortable and I felt very exposed.I started with a cocktail, which was nice. We then had a charcuterie board, which was good but not explained when it was presented to us. I had a Caesar salad with salmon for my meal, which was not great - very mayonaisey, lots of cheese, and they had anchovies but used them poorly. For dessert I had an orange mousse ball in a chocolate shell, a strange concoction that was OK.The service was bland, but not unkind. The bizarrest moment was when a string quartet showed up and started playing randomly. They were fine, but only knew 6 songs, so played through the same set twice. Again, large echoing room - only 3 tables - we were in the middle trying to conduct business. It was incredibly awkward, they weren't that good. Basically a strange, uncomfortable evening eating an OK meal in a half-finished basement.

We first heard of The Madison Club when we were on a tour of buildings in downtown Madison. While touring the Madison Club we were able to see the amazing view of Lake Monona from the dining room known as Churchill's Restaurant. We also visited the courtyard and lounge known as The Tap Room where we were able to peek at their menu. We learned that the Madison Club was members-only, but I was determined we would eat there. I got home and looked it up on-line expecting to sign-up for membership. Sticker shock over the price! I was not going to become a member and I was not going to be able to have dinner there. Fast forward a few months and we are attending a charity auction. One of the items was a gift certificate for The Madison Club. I bid on it, won it, and we were on our way.We finally got around to using it this summer on a Monday evening. I called and made reservations. The atmosphere is old school elegance. Very formal and reserved. There were only two tables with patrons. We were sat at the window overlooking the lake. Perfect! Our uniformed waiter arrived and asked what he could do for us. He was polite and formal. We asked for a drink menu which he promptly brought. We ordered drinks and when they arrived they were sensational. The were also quite reasonable considering the prices on the rest of the dinner menu. There was a little awkwardness and we wondered if he would be bringing us food menus but he walked us through it and let us know when we were ready for them he would bring them. I definitely was feeling under sophisticated and mildly out-of-place.After we ordered they brought us an amuse-bouche. It was amazing and probably my favorite part of the evening. One spoonful and packed w/flavors. Peach, bacon, herbs, it was the perfect bite. My Caesar salad had Parmesan crisps and real anchovies. Our entrees which were fish and pork-loin were amazing dishes. Drizzles of delectable sauce, perfectly cooked proteins. Appealing to both the tongue and the eye. None of the portions were huge and the prices were high, but we left feeling full and satisfied.I'm thrilled I had the opportunity to try the Madison Club. The view, the service, and the food all lived up to my expectations. The price alone would make the the Madison Club a special event for me, but the membership requirement makes me feel lucky I was able to try it at all.
