Old school delightful Cantonese restaurant that hit on all the marks of a traditional experience.Ambience. Neon light sign, 1950s building. You walk in and are greeted with a friendly smile and offer to sit anywhere. Small cute bar to the side has a few regulars kibitzing. Good sign. Traditional decor - black lacquer, chose lanterns everywhere. Clean and mom and pop-ish.Tropical drink - check. Delicious Lychee Harden Passion.Best part: Milwaukee's best shrimp in lobster sauce!!!!!! Delicious brown sauce, pillowy egg whites, savory pork shreds and the umami of fermented black beans. Plump luscious shrimp!!!!!! Omg!!!!! I am in heaven.Combo plate included fried rice and crispy potstickers. Traditional almond cookie and fortune cookie dessert. Tab for dinner? A bargain!!!!! $22.75.Bar is filling up and people are acting like it's Cheers. Great place!

FOOD (everything), BEST!!The owners on sight, key employees and owners all care for 1 thing, the customer and the best experience as possible... first time customers are usually repeat customers after the first visit... celebrity customers have been there many many many years, I am one satisfied customer. They make you feel like family.

Everything was soupy. Lo mein, soupy flavorless noodles with some veggies. General Tso's, somehow the chicken had a strong weird flavor and it was surrounded by liquidy vegetables. Pepper chicken, also very soupy/liquidy. I've had some mediocre Chinese food but this was by far the worst! We actually ended up throwing all of it away.

I went here on a Monday at 3:30pm for a late lunch. The entrance is somewhat uninviting because the closed double doors lead to a 15ft hallway? coat rack area? with a second set of closed double rooms. Inside is immediately a host stand. There's specials of the side that include steak?! at a Chinese place. I didn't have time to consider this before I was whisked away to a table by the host. The giant room is mostly divided in half, which is good because there were only 3 other tables with people. At one point I was the only customer there. Maybe it would have felt less odd with take out?The staff and food was very quick. I got the Chinese Singapore noodles. The dish was egg heavy on top. It also had some oddly smoke tasting purple bits. The staff was overly accommodating giving me a bowl of spicy chili oil in case mine wasn't hot enough. It added a nice flavor in spots. The medium isn't as hot as many medium salsas, especially Americanize mass produced ones. Lychee Garden, based on this single experience, may be worth going for the lunch special (until 3pm) but I probably wouldn't go for dinner price. The portion was big and they did give a sugar cookie and fortune cookie.

Poor service for a Saturday. Waited 15 minutes and weren't waited on. Well, we were, but after he took our drink order, they sent him home. I never got my drink. There was only one other table with customers so it's not a case of being too busy. I'll try again in a few months I guess. I know the buffet used to be good...

Occasionally on social media I see someone ask "what's the best Chinese restaurant in the area". Among the frequent answers to that question is Lychee Garden. For that reason I decided enough waiting; it was time to stop and try it for myself. I ordered two egg rolls and the roast pork lo mein dinner combo with fried rice and pot stickers.Unlike a large portion of restaurants out there, you can tell that these egg rolls are homemade and not from a grocery store freezer. The menu just called them egg rolls instead of specifying what kind, but I was able to learn they were pork egg rolls before I ordered. I didn't love their flavor and I think I found mushroom in one, which I wouldn't be a fan of if that's what it was, but I could be wrong. I like other egg rolls more, so unfortunately theirs wouldn't bring me back.Other than the pot stickers, which were pretty good, the roast pork lo mein combo was disappointing. Portions of the fried rice had a weird taste which made me glad that I didn't order a pint of it like I almost did.Lychee's lo mein is unlike any I've had at other restaurants and I don't mean that in a flattering way. The strips of roast pork in the lo mein were harder than expected and the liquid was incredibly soupy. Not a fan of water chestnuts in my lo mein, either. I'm glad they put the styrofoam container in a plastic bag because I didn't have it sitting completely level in my car and some of the liquid poured out the side. Like the egg rolls, I didn't love the flavor of the lo mein, but I didn't necessarily hate it. It also isn't something I would come back for.Considering lo mein and egg rolls are two of my go to items at Chinese restaurants, Lychee Garden is not going to be my response when I see the "what's the best Chinese restaurant in the area" question again.

This food was absolutely horrendous! we called and they said 10 minutes which in itself was a bit concerning. the fried rice tasted burnt; the "sesame" chicken was a soupy mess with veggies and sesame seeds sprinkled on top. the sweet and sour chicken was basically chicken tenders with veggie soup and my husband found a bone in his. would NOT recommend.

We've dined in 4 times and got pickup 6 times... Waitress was good and nice. Prompt. Clean place. Food is excellent and obviously it's our new place to go. I appreciate that they are one of the few places that make beef chop suey right.

My Mongolian Beef was flavorless. I asked for medium heat and got none. Service was inconsistent. The ambulance was supper club with Chinese wall hangings. Very strange experience.

what a shame they used to have very good food now not so much. I had eggs fuyoung. The pork was hard like a rock. My chicken chow mein was just blah. I miss their buffet. They do not have one anymore. Food was always fresh coming out. I can't say so much about the food Now ,The eggrolls were sour. They tasted terrible like something went wrong with them will not be returning goodbye old friend.
