On route home and needed lunch. Checked the reviews on nearby spots and saw this Mexican place just off the highway had good ones.It was still early and we were the only customers (soon others filed in). The service was quick. The free chips were very good as was the salsa. I ordered the enchiladas rojas with ground beef and cheese. Very good. My wife got one of the lunch specials a chicken burrito which earned a thumbs up. The portions were decent as were the prices especially the lunch specials.The only downside was the place had a weird off-putting smell. Not sure if it was from a cleaning product but it was not good. Fortunately it was worse by the entrance and not where we sat.

Amazing service with a knowledgeable and attentive server. Table side guacamole was fantastic and we were able to skip the cilantro! The chips and salsa were good. My margarita was as big as my head and delicious!I ordered Seafood enchiladas, the best I have ever eaten. They came with a red sauce that was so delicious I wanted to lick the plate! My friend had a chicken chimichanga that was stuffed full of delicious shredded chicken.The place was well decorated and very clean. It was so fun and so tasty I wish I could eat there again today! I will note the correct name of the seafood dish.Perhaps the booth we sat in could be recushioned. There were sinking spots that need a little TLC.

This restaurant took over from another Mexican place and recently opened up. They updated the decor to give it a fresh new look. Only complaint is that the new flooring is a little slick which made it a more difficult for my disabled Mom to get around with her walker.Other than that small detail I loved the service and food! Obligatory chips and salsa were served - salsa was flavorful - chips were average. However, what wasn't average was their signature avocado salad that was on special that day.I had the chicken avocado salad with chipotle ranch and the portion was generous. The salad was a good combination of varying greens and you could tell they make their dressings from scratch. Chicken was grilled with a deep flavor topped with big slices of avocado. Definitely something you want to give a shot!Mom had the taco salad and again it was nicely done and was another generous portion. She raved about it and said we will definitely be back! I can't wait to return to try their non-salad options.

You know how you go on a first date with someone and you think this might be the one? And then you have a few other dates and you can't figure out what you saw in them on that first date. That is now how this story goes.A few years ago we were driving and saw a new Mexican restaurant had just opened. We decided to try Los Tres Amigos Authentic Mexican Food and we were their first customers. Somewhere out there is a photo of us that they posted on their Facebook page. We had that whole, ooh, this might be our Mexican place. You know, that first date feel. Last night after our road trip to Madison we had no choice that to eat out because I didn't take anything out of the freezer and it was too late to start cooking from scratch. So we went to our very favorite Mexican place. I know we all have our favorites, and I am happy when people find local businesses to support, but I'm pretty stuck on this one. I have officially tried every other option in Oshkosh and, for us, nothing comes close. I cheer on every small business that is brave enough to keep going against all odds. But I spend money where I know I won't be disappointed. So why do I love Los Tres Amigos Authentic Mexican Food?The management and staff are great. They are warm and welcoming and really open to our needs. The salsa! Hands down the best for me because it's spicy and flavorful and they don't charge for extra chips and salsa.The jalenepo margarita is simply the best. The peppers don't make it hot. It just enhances the flavors and it's not too sweet like many margaritas which are basically like slushy with booze. I love their chile relleno which can be hard to find at other places. The fajitas are easily good for two people and they are delicious. I've never had a bad meal though I do have some special favorites including this mocaljete filled with beef, chicken, huge shrimp, cheese, ham, and a spicy ground beef sauce to die for. It comes with rice and beans and for the first time ever we had to do take out for the leftover!It can be tricky getting there because of the construction, but they are open and they need our support. They also have a food truck and do catering.So from our first date on opening day until last night we are still in love with this place and we hope you will try them out if you haven't already.If you like less heat then please let them know. If you're like us and you like more, well, let them know. And their beef soup is wow, wow, wow!
