Lewis Fresh Market in my go-to for fresh meat and produce. Their prices offer great value and they have an unmatched selection of international grocery options, which is great for finding the Jamaican brands I know and grew up with and my partner's favorite Guatemalan snacks. Not to mention their in-house eatery located at the back of the store has mouthwatering Mexican-style chicken tacos for $2.00 each. I do not live close to Lewis Fresh Market but whenever I am visiting my family, I'll stop by for the chicken tacos and to pick up great deals on meat to freeze and fresh veggies for my home. It's well worth it. I also can attest that the staff are all wearing masks and those behind the counter are wearing gloves. Those at the registers are not wearing gloves, but I also appreciated that at the eatery bottles of disinfectant and paper towels were placed on each table for unlimited use. If you are in the Lake County area, it's a truly great place to shop and eat!

First time here. Okay, so this place is the opposite of Wholefoods but I like picking up my Mexician junk food fix at the hot deli since I was in the area. Something I do at all ethnic grocers. There's no organic vegetables available and there is a popular bakery which I did not patronize. Not a place to drive to but interesting to pick up some Mexican while in the area. I liked my carnitas by the pound & threw the spinach pies & cooked chicken in the freezer for those busy days.

I'd love to keep my money in Waukegan and shop local but after this recent experience with Lewis, I have found a better grocer. I am a resident of Waukegan I have herniated disks in my neck, and I carry a backpack so I can remain hands free and not tax my neck.Lewis is having a huge loss prevention issue and no longer allow patrons to shop with backpacks. I shop there twice a week and am a good customer who would have been happy to support them in their challenges if they weren't so insulting and rude. My husband was sick and I stopped during my workday to grab some soup ingredients. While on a business call multi-tasking, I'm rudely approached and ultimately followed by loss prevention for 5 minutes until I was forced off of my business call to learn I'm being shook down to let them hold my bag in front. This is part of their new rule where they do not allow backpacks. I had a purse-like leather backpack. I opened my bag to show them I had nothing (for the record they did not accuse me of stealing and just said no backpacks allowed) but they insisted they are enforcing their policy. I explained I have work valuables and they could not have cared less. I shared that if they would have let their patrons know, I would have planned ahead to not have valuables in my bag, but again they were so rude (picture a talk to the hand type behavior) Possibly I missed some little sign and I could have avoided this, but I'm sharing so no one else runs into being treated like a criminal, and being blindsided by rule. Meanwhile I'm watching women with purses and grocery bags larger than my backpack waltz on by not getting stopped. They didn't even have the type of little pastas I was there for so I left the rest of my ingredients and that day finished my shopping peacefully with my backpack at Mariano's. The rule is ceremonial at best and doubtfully solves their real issue. They foolishly lost a customer, not over the existence of the rule, but rather the poor way it was implemented with absolutely no class or understanding, nor a lick of kindness or professionalism. Since then, I'm enjoying a much better atmosphere at Heinen's just 15 min away in Lake Bluff. They have a way better selection and the kindest staff. I won't miss you Lewis. Here's a pic of the two jerks who should not work with the public.

Lewis Fresh Market has really fresh produce and a great selection of products from all over the world. Competitive pricing on produce. For the same amount spent on other grocery stores, I can usually get a few more items at Lewis. When Halloween is around the corner, you'll find me here picking out pumpkins to decorate my home. Large pumpkins are only $1.99 each! Can't beat that price anywhere. They recently expanded and added a food court along with more selection of hot and cold foods. Don't forget to stop by their bakery when you visit. I'll usually stop by early on the weekends, just in time to grab some fresh bread!

Price gouging during the national emergency. They used the excuse of " it sold out by 2 pm". Raising the price of an item during a crisis is not acceptable regardless. I would not recommend Lewis fresh market.

Produce is cheap and pretty fresh. They have a pretty big produce area and quite a selection including a number of Mexican specialities like nopales. Not much of selection when it comes to other goods, but you're really only going to be coming for groceries. They have a bakery as well as a juice and taco bar on site which is really nice. I haven't actually tried anything from either but there's always someone at the taco bar.It can get pretty busy, and the lines can get long, try not to go during peak hours!

Great little taco stand as soon as you walk in - affordable and made fresh. I had a shrimp taco with cilantro and onion - generous amount of shrimp. My 10 year old daughter had a quesadilla with a ton of cheese. Cans of soda were 2/$1. Great way to get a bite before you shop! The store itself is like you going around the works - so many treats and staples from other food cultures. Excellent fresh meat and seafood selection and in house bakery. Very affordable high quality produce. Worth out drIve from Kenosha!

Stopped in for quick shopping after long day today. All went well until reached checkout lane where I encountered a long haired male cashier whose eyes were beet red and couldn't stop laughing. Can you guess what was wrong with him?

Love their fresh produce. Never fails ! If I want it fresh, I go here because other places don't care and your produce goes bad in a day or 2.
