First time visiting, but I've known about this store for several years. There is a greenhouse next door and plants for sale hanging outside. When you walk in the store, there are freezers and refrigerators on the right with seafood, meats, heat-n-eat meals, and fresh cut fruit. You can buy wine, beer, spirits, as well as candy, bakery, spices, sauces, pickled veggies, deli meats and cheeses, plus there is a fresh produce section, as well.Today, I bought some fresh cut fruit and a bag of El Rey tortilla chips. It's a cool place, and I would shop here again.

This is one of my absolute favorite boutique grocery stores. The reason I call this "boutique" is because of the unique offerings and it's on the smaller side. During summer they have and outdoor greenhouse but it's the items inside that are the real attraction.Hot ham and rolls on a Saturday and Sunday - why do I need to wait for Sunday? They proudly serve Grebe's rolls with hot ham. The rolls seem to be freshest on Saturday so get your fix a day earlier. You pick out the rolls and they have the ham behind the counter. In typical MKE fashion you get six rolls for free with a pound of ham. When you are getting ham make sure you look at their daily soup specials and try a cup or a bowl. It's not obvious so you need to look at the display and ask them to get you the soup but it's well worth it.Beyond Grebe's they sell mostly all local vendors. You can get local made frozen pizzas, Elegant farmer pies, apple cider, North Shore pretzels, etc. The majority of the products in here are local so it's a great one stop shop. ....and yes BTW they do sell fruit which is ironic because the rest of the product dwarfs their fruit selection. I always pick up a small portion of their mixed cut fruit and it is some of the freshest I have had beyond being on a tropical island. This place is so quaint and fun you will want to stop in here to get Grebe's cruller bites and maybe some other local treats.

Perfect stop for anything you need! I love getting their daily soups, as well as house made dips and salads. Lots of great offerings to make a delicious charcuterie board. They offer hot ham and rolls on Saturday & Sunday! Produce is hit or miss, definitely needs to be used right away. Great family owned store!

Lots of variety of treats, fruits, vegetables, salads, sandwiches, jellies, jams, spices, candy, pastries, ice cream and lots more. Many of these items are locally sourced. Staff is friendly. Store is easy to get around. And they even have some great plants and flowers. Stop by for hot ham and rolls on a Sunday, and freshly made hot soups during the week. It's a nice place to stop in and visit.... Lots of cheeses and wines also.

Support this amazing local business! I stopped by after a doctor appointment because I needed some fresh and satisfying comfort food. I got home and this is exactly what the doctor ordered! Delicious guacamole, salsa, cheese curds, shrimp salad, and olives. They are in the middle of some renovations, so expect things to look a little different right now. I'm glad I don't live super close to Layton Fruit Market because it would be hard not to visit everyday. Lots of fresh veggies, snacks, meat. Everything you need to impress your family or guests. I'll be back soon!

It's like a mini grocery store. Good to know they have hot ham and rolls on Saturday and Sunday for a very reasonable price, I'll have to remember that when I'm going to a pot luck, or something. For touting themselves a "fruit market", though, I didn't really see that much fruit or produce. I bought a few things, and I will stop by again when convenient and I'm the area but I wouldn't go out of my way. Also saw some outside seating & tables and some plants for sale.

Ok I have been driving past this place for years and since I love exploring small neighborhood grocery stores because they can be gems I finally stopped by.The place is decorated like country charm and way smaller on the inside than it looks from the outside. The place is totally a neighborhood thing with lots of regulars who know each other by name. The place has a nice mix of seafood, cheeses, meats, specialty foods, taffy, candy, pizza, fruits, veggies, nuts, olives, beer, liquor, spices etc etc. I was looking for the the not so common items and I found a Mexican seafood soup kit with spicy seafood meat balls, gotta try that. A hot pitted olive salad rounded out my visit. The pizzas looked really good but that's for next time.Overall I really liked the place and I will definitely stop by when I drive by because I want to try other items.

Limited fruit and vegetable offerings but what they do have is fresh and excellent quality. Well, limited for a grocery store but this is smaller than most grocery stores. Extensive for a fruit stand, but this is larger than a fruit stand. There's a more upscale assortment of goods than one would find in a neighborhood food mart. I must use the original meaning of the now meaningless phrase, "it is what it is," as this little neighborhood fruit market is in its own category. In addition to fruit they have an eclectic collection of frozen prepared meats, fish, pizza, and deli products; pasta, pasta sauce, olive oil, plants, flowers, chocolates and snacks, and some other stuff. And newspapers. Almost everything here is locally sourced, and there are a lot of friendly gift ideas. If you're into the Wisconsin hot ham and rolls thing, this place does it better than most. If you're vegetarian, the way the store is set up you can avoid the meet if you veer hard left on entry. I think you would have some trouble negotiating the tight space in a wheelchair, but there's no ramp or stairs in the front and the parking lot is ample for the market size.

There is always an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables. The layout of the interior allows for easy spotting of what you need. The staff is always friendly and helpful. There's plenty of parking. I would say that compared to grocery stores, Layton Fruit Market's produce is fresher.
