Maria is the best! Visit Lake Forest Food & Wine for terrific sandwiches. The Italian beef is delicious and the tacos are also very good. Fantastic selection of hard to find tequilas as well.

This is in a very strange location. It was seems like an old bank building or office building where there used to be an atrium and then they put in small shops on the first floor. It's on the back street south of the main square in town so you pretty much have to know it's here otherwise you probably would never come here on your own. They have a cooler with all sorts of crazy expensive single cans of beverages some with CBD, some with probiotics - be careful because they're all about five dollars apiece and you don't expect it! Did you have cans of soda pop as well.You stand in front of the counter/bar and order and the people in front of you are making your sandwich or salad etc. The menu was quite extensive but it is by no means low cost. One of us had the burrito bowl with chicken and only greens instead of rice. The chicken was warm and fairly juicy, it had boatload of greens smashed into the plastic container but they offered no hot sauce, no salt, no pepper you had to ask for all of that which in Lake Forest is kind of silly. Are you really going to have people running away with those things if you just leave them out by the self serve water jug?The ordering process was slow - they need more cooks and it would be easier to order and pay first so that you could go sit in the atrium and wait for it to be prepared -Panera style -instead of waiting in line and paying at the end of the serviced counter AFTER they make your food - just my opinion.The Cuban sandwich was flavorful and large, the chicken Caesar was tasty as well.The atrium with tables is a nice place to enjoy the meal and not be subject to the weather.We might return if biking in the area again.

Wow. I'm a little surprised at the cost to value here. I visited about 2 years ago, pre-pandemic, and was nicely satisfied.This time? Not at all. No protein except for pulled pork, and the quesadilla was extremely greasy.And $3.50 for a can of coke? Seriously?? I'll skip this place in future.Good luck!

Walk in, examine the menu board, order, get great meal, eat-in or take away.My daughter and I have done that for years and years, through high school, college and post college. The location changed once, but the friendly, quality service and meals have been a constant. It's a great place to be one of those places.

Im a picky eater, but The Italian beef is the best ever!!!! They prepare my food just the way i want it, its always custom and its tasty and perfect. Another favorite is the cheddar broccoli soup.

I used to come here years ago when I worked in Lake Bluff. I think someone mentioned it changed locations. And it most likely has cause it looks nothing like what I remember. It was way more upscale back in the day. Pretty fancy looking actually. Now it looks like a little convenience store almost with a walk up deli counter. Very disappointing. Onto the food. The turkey and havarti on sourdough was decent but nothing to go out of my way for like I kinda did. (I was in Highland Park so decided to drive the 15 minutes north to relive what I remember as a heavenly turkey and havarti sandwich.) I had a brief flashback when I bit into one section with enough mayo to bring out the flavors. The bread was pretty dry and they barely put any mayo on it. Also didn't listen to me saying numerous times to just put the meat, cheese and mayo on it. No. No lettuce. I get the sandwich and have to pick off a bunch of tomatoes. I also got some of the chicken salad (with grapes. Yum) to take home and check out. We shall see how that is later.They do have some wine as well but as someone else mentioned, there's not that much. It does have a few specialty cookies and such. But again, much bigger and nicer selection back in the day when it was a regular haunt of mine at the old location. Overall if you're in the area and want a sandwich to go, go for it. Just don't expect too much. A sad, disappointing walk down memory lane for me though.
