La Canasta Mexicana

This is about as casual as a restaurant gets before it stops being a restaurant. One cash register, drinks in coolers to grab your own, menu is just a flat screen TV. But, as an alternative to the chain restaurants of the Dells, it's great! The menu is standard taqueria. Pick your meat, you can have it as a platter, in tacos, or in a torta or quesadilla. Eat, pay, leave. I got a plate with smoked pork, which was outstanding, sort of if ham had a love child with a pork chop. My kids got chicken tacos, which were STUFFED with meat. The teenager couldn't actually eat three. In general, their prices seem high, but you get a ton of food for it. It isn't hugely bursting with flavor, even though the clientele seemed mostly Latinx. I used hot sauce liberally. That was actually great for kids. Service was super attentive from the one dude doing it all, and the beer was nice and cold. Overall, I'd hit it again when in the Dells.

Fresh pico de gallo, fresh guacamole and their tamales are delicious.Always friendly service!

Came to get 3 tacos and small side of rice for 14.54Nothing great but good. They look like a supermarket when you walk in but you walk up and ask for foodIt's was great and would suggest again...

I've had tacos everywhere. None of them come close to the carna asada tacos at La Canasta. An absolute gem in a town where you wouldn't expect great Mexican food. Bonus is the really nice family that run the store.

I had an asada burrito here earlier today and it was one of the best burritos I've ever had. If you love authentic Mexican food this is your spot. The cashier was amazing too, and took the time to help me through my order. This is a small store that also serves food so don't expect the usual restaurant experience. Just good people and great food.

Best authentic tacos around, particularly the lingua and barbacoa (lamb). So lucky I live two small blocks away. Only one table in eat in but they recipe the process of building a larger space next door.

Best authentic Mexican taco spot I've tried so far every year that I've come out to the dells with the family, also great mexican grocery store. Doesnt really provide seating to dine inside but the food definitely makes up for it.

This is THE authentic taco style. Tacos bursting with flavor! When I worked at a pizza joint in Chicago the cook there would make a similar recipe he brought over from south of the border :) did I mention this is AUTHENTIC? Well... it is, so go check it out. If you're looking for dog food grade meat slathered in sour cream, goto taco bell :) This however is the real deal.

Food is absolutely delicious! Servings are about what you'd expect from a Mexican sit-down restaurant, but at diner pricing and atmosphere. This place is legit!
