If you're expecting a regular cookie cutter supper club than you better look elsewhere. We've had dinner here four times and the food has been very good as are the Old Fashions at the bar. The ambience is different from anyplace I've been and I've been to virtually countless eateries. It is a throwback from a century ago and the place is rumored to be haunted. I've never seen or heard anything unsuspected but who knows what I may see in the future. The Wednesday (and occasionally Saturday) special of steak and lobster for twenty dollars is a treat not worth passing on and for a few dollars more you can upgrade to a ribeye which are very, very good. A fun night out for any couple or family and say Hi to Fred as well.

So... this place is weird, just plane weird. The atmosphere is like eating at your great grandmother's garage sale. Once you get past the weirdness, the food is OK. We had the perch, tenderloin, and veggie pasta. The flavors are good but basic. The service is slow which fits the grandma's attic theme they have going on. Overall, for Kiel Wisconsin (small town) it's fine but don't expect too much from this place.

We stopped here on a Wed. Night for supper. We were not aware that this place had such a great special on Wednesday. A small lobster and steak for twenty dollars! Amazing! I don't eat lobster but my husband does and he said it was perfect. The steak was one of the best he's had in a while. I selected the perch dinner. The small is three filets for Fourteen dollars. The pricing is fair because they serve so much with each meal . You get a small whipped cheese and fracker plate, a cup of chicken broth, a salad, cottage cheese or coke slaw. Then the potato options are also to numerous to even list. We had an amazing twice baked potato which was delicious. I recommend this place if you like steak, although the menu has a lot to offer. It's an old historical building so don't look too deep, especially if you are a clean freak (which I am). I did see however my light fixture did not have any dust on it.The silverware and dinnerware were clean, my food was served hot and my waitress was outstanding, so I had to stop looking around and focus on the positives in this place.

I've not enjoyed a meal on my grandmothers lace tablecloth in decades. Until tonight. The atmosphere is, well, like a grandmother's cluttered living room and waayyyy overdone. But if you can get past the dusty knickknacks, then you're in for an enjoyable, large meal with extra cheese on everything. The bartender seemed overly interested in any woman in the restaurant, but that creepiness factor aside, staff were friendly and efficient. I'd suggest they boil a hearty stock or just 86 the surprise chicken consume course altogether. Their bouillon is from a cube and isnt a compliment to any restaurant. This restaurant wouldnt last a week in any other city, but I'll be much more forgiving with my rating because its in Kiel, WI.

I went out for a Friday night to the Central House and was very impressed. Courteous waitresses responded to my requests in a timely manner and the overall aesthetics were something I'd expect from a five star restaurant. Yet, everything has a perfect contemporary feeling as if you never left home. More so like you went back in time. The upstairs is fun to look around in, there's many tables and it has all been restored over a period of ten years from a bar, back to its original 1800's design. You can go up into the tower which has a small seating area for two, which I imagine is something of a dream during a light snow fall overlooking the town in winter. The prices are fully justified given the quality of the food. They make an excellent juicy well cooked steak, that actually matches the requested cooking level. The white sauce and mushrooms over the steak complimented the meat quite well. Overall after three visits to this fine establishment I must give it five stars did I have never left without feeling fully satisfied and inspired.

A restored hotel, built in 1892, beautiful Victorian architecture. The bar serves anything you'd need, and the garnishes are home-made and awesome. The steaks we had were maybe the best of our lives. They are making the upstairs a bed and breakfast, I think during the week. Quite a great find! In little Kiel.

Place has gone downhill . Have eaten here several times since moving to the area, and quality of food has steadily declined. Tonight was last straw. Ordered ribeye, was terrible. Wife had scallops , tasted like rubber balls. And they now have a "salad bar", which in no way meets state health guidelines. Fred makes a great old fashion, so if your up for a good drink , stop in. Just avoid the food. Too bad, cause I used to like this place . "Chef " is a kid, waiters are kids ,and when I complained about the quality of my food, got lame excuses. Paid my bill, tipped my waiter, and politely told him we would not be returning. Explains why place was nearly empty on a Sat night.

What a fantastic gem of a restaurant this is. If you don't appreciate that you're stepping into a time capsule when you go here - you're missing the point. We had a very large group here and all of our food came out at the same time and was delicious! My filet was done perfectly. The passion the owners have for the building and the restaurant really shows. Do yourself a favor and check out all of the history in the place, really neat! Would love to dine in the tower sometime!

I absolutely love this restaurant. I have been coming here with my family for years. Fred makes the best ol fashion in town (try the peppers for a garnish). So many different things to choose from. Ive never had a bad meal here. you will never find A better twice baked potato! The shrimp Joesph app is also amazing!
