Cool concept. Cheese was great. However staff was too busy to help or make suggestions.

Waaay out there. The specialty is their Amish Blue, although I prefer Roth's Buttermilk Blue. Their Gorgonzola is better. The Blue Reserve is best.BUT, they are the only retailer in WI that I've found for Guggisberg Baby Swiss (from OH.) This is the original and only true Baby Swiss I've ever found since Steve Bahl passed away (and took his Bahl Baby recipe with him) in 2010. They also carry the best value I've run across for German (Foil) Brick, cut to order. You can sample anything before you buy. Amish, so of course cash only, closed Sunday.Parking is reserved for cheese lovers.

A simple Amish Cheese Factory with wonderful cheese nicely priced. All of their cheese is excellent, especially the blue cheese. Don't take pictures of the Amish though as you'll embarrass them.

I've been a fan of Salemville's blue cheeses since I was a chef in Chicago, so when I realized that, when I moved to Wisconsin, I was only about 35-45 minutes away from where it was made.Salemville is a cheese co-op for many of the local Amish dairy farmers, and I believe exclusively uses only milk from these farms. And it really shows in the quality of their cheese, which I feel make a decent showing against some of the best blue cheeses in the world. While their cheeses might not quite achieve greatness, at it's price point it is one of the best values out there. They make 3 types of blue cheese, Amish Blue, Gorgonzola and a smoked blue cheese. I also believe that they have added a "Reserve" blue to their line up. And of course, you can purchase all of their cheeses at their retail shop along with a small selection of other high quality cheese. It's definitely well off the beaten path, but if you find yourself in Wisconsin Amish country it is worth making a stop.

Well! They will never see this review because they don't use computers! They are Amish! And I mean the real deal- horse and buggy type stuff! All the ladies wear cute bonnets and whatnot. But lemme tell you- they make some good blue cheese! I highly suggest arranging a tour for yourself sometime if you can.

The Cheese is excellent. Their gorgonzola is award winning. Ambiance is every bit as charming as you would expect any Amish business would be. This service is polite, quick and pleasant. i very much enjoyed the experience and go there often.

I believe this blue is the best on the market. The problem is finding it. In my opinion it is much better then the Stilton British import which more connoisseurs rate as number one. Maybe they haven't found the Amish Salemville. I buy this in the large container crumbled and the block in the small wedge. Freeze the crumbled and scrape off what you need for salads and other items. Use the wedge on crackers for a taste treat with cocktails.

A lovely honest cheese factory in a beautiful area. The cheese is excellent as well at very reasonable prices. They make blue, smoked blue and gorgonzola. I think that the gorgonzola is merely the blue with longer aging. The smoked blue is wonderful on a carmelized onion white pizza. I know that the reviewer that commented on the 'real deal" Amish with cute bonnets meant no disrespect but all Amish are real deal. They don't wear bonnets to be cute (quite the opposite). They are honest, deeply religious and wonderful people who generally bother no one and deserve our respect. Visit this area with reverence for their discipline and dedication and you will not be disappointed. As for the comparison with Stilton: it is a totally different cheese. As is Roquefort. It is like comparing Beethoven to the Beatles. I will say that Salemville is about a third the price of Stilton and both are excellent.

the cheese was great but i will not be buying it again ...it is wrapped in aluminum foil.there is a correlation between alzheimers and aluminum - aluminum has the ability to pass the blood brain barrier.my daughter had breast cancer and a mastectomy and was told to get her deodorants from the health food store[no aluminum in their deodorants.] this is from one of the best cancer hospitals in the country.it is also the reason that there are so many stainless steel pots and pans on the market ... no chemical interaction with the aluminum.
