Five Stars. For good reason.I am a bourbon chicken connoisseur. I am highly experienced in terms of finding, buying and consuming bourbon chicken. Mostly from shopping mall food courts, but I have also done rest stops and airports. They have bourbon chicken, but this review is not about that.I was waiting in line and the person ahead of me ordered three single entree to go boxes with Kato's Chicken, rice and veggies. I thought to myself, "this young woman must know something I do not". I made an executive decision; three entree combo meal with rice and veggies. All three entree selections were Kato's Chicken, fresh out of whatever they cooked it in. The server was kind enough to ask me if I really wanted all three to be Kato's Chicken, but I know what I am about.Worth it. Basically, I walked out with a clamshell to-go container with a 3:1:1 ratio of chicken:rice:veggies. It was a fine meal.

Obviousy the "bourbon chicken connoisseur" reveiw on this listing is either from and owner/employee of the location or a person posting yelp reviews from a mental hospital. I myself am french and have had many wonderful meals in New Orleans at real cajun resturants. The first thing I noticed at Katos was the lack of actual Kajun food. They had something that looks a bit like and attempt at Jumblia but was cooked in what smelled like asian sweet and sour sauce. The rest of the items were variances of asian fried chicken in different sauces, asian noodles and asian fried rice. These people are trying to pass off chinese food as Cajun. Luckily for them they are in rural Madison Wisconsin where most of the pupulation is dumb enough to buy something like that.So i considdered getting something anyway since I like chinese food as well. I was very hungry and I wanted to give a change to a smaller outlet owner rather than a big chain in the food court. The manager, a larger fellow in glasses, offered me a sample of the chicken on the end of a tooth pick.Which was a good thing as it saved me from making the biggest mistake of the week.At first the chicken had a good fried sweet and sour outer flavor but as I got into the center, to the small ammount of actual chicken inside, the literal taste of death and cat urine flooded my mouth.I barely got to the food court bathroom before throwing up in a drinking fountain. Yes, i did litterally throw up, there WERE witnesses. After cleaning up in the bathroom, I of course was still hungry. Even more so now since my stomach now contained absolutely nothing,Needless to say I went to subway, to wash the taste of dead animal and cat piss out of my mouth. Even now, after the subway, I can still taste hints of it in the back of my mouth.Ive had this experience before with asian food, typically egg rolls. This happens when the kitchen is using a sub standard meat that they get from a shady "back of the truck" retailer and persist in reusing cooking oil and pans without washing them. the flavors run together with the bad meat and boom, it comes out with a profound aftertaste not unlike a dead animal and urine. West towne mall has some pretty terrible small chain resturants and this is by far the WORST , I have ever encounterred. I thank the manager for the free sample before making the mistake of actually ordering something.

Their white rice is just complete mush. Really wasn't good at all. Got it to go and ate in my car - and wish I didn't. Their chicken isn't crispy either. Big waste of money.

We used to love Kato's at the east towne mall in Madison, Wi, have not been there since before covid though. We finally stopped to eat at Kato's last night, pure garbage now. The food was tasteless (bourbon chicken, sesame chicken, Tsaos chicken, rice and noodle). Half of the sesame chicken was just breading, no chicken inside. The egg rolls, I spit mine out it tasted so bad. I guess it had taste at least. If this is what we should expect, please go out of business and don't steal anymore of our money.

What did I just experience. Took two chicken combos, the spicy bourbon and and orange one. The menu itself was looking so bland compared to the ones recently closed at the east Towne mall. Well, both the chicken dishes were so hard to chew, there is no way these were prepared today!!!! And yes, have some taste and idea about bourbon chicken!Hope they put some honest effort or this will close as hurriedly it spring up !!!

Had lunch here, and I liked there orange chicken the most. I think it was better then Panda Express orange chicken. However, the ladies who were working at the front were bribing every single customer for samples. Yes, totally understand it's apart of business, and customers won't know till they actually "try". But they were very great and kind and gave me numerous samples before I made my decision. I really want to give this a 5 Star, but I feel their customer service could use more work. Overall, I would come here again and yummy food!
