Kalck's Butcher Shop

This is the only butcher shop i go to now. Many are very expensive and not that much better than the store. I do consume a lot of meat and they have the best chicken breast and the hamburger meat smells like steak on the grill and tastes excellent. All The ladies behind the counter are very helpful even when they are busy.

Had a great experience. Got two steaks. Some of the best I ever had. I got a strip and ribeye . So tender and flavorful. No seasoning or sauce just good ole meat. It was my first time in there. Staff was friendly and helpful. I also got a lb of ground very tender and melts in your mouth. Made just a plain burger and it was so good. I will be going back. Sorry no pictures I ate it

This is like the butcher shops were long ago except it's almost all women working here. It's a family business that dad opened and now is run by one of the daughters. Personalized service, quality products and a large variety of deli products is what they're know for. Cheap meat isn't good and good meat isn't cheap. Buy your meat and deli products from here and you won't be disappointed.

The staff was nice and polite. The three or four women didn't have a clue as to the pork product we we're looking for. I would suggest diagrams of meat for the wall.

I have been to this place on 3 separate occasions. The first was about 10 years ago to check out their meat selection- it was busy, no greeting but I attributed it to how busy it was. The second time a few years later, I was 1 of 2 costumers and I was never acknowledged or looked at. My last visit, a week ago I decided to give it another try and made my first purchase. While the meat was good- to me the customer service is lacking. I felt like the regulars that came in were given acknowledgement and a friendly "hi." And unfortunately I have felt like that every time I've gone in.

Can't get enough of the crab cakes!! Make a little mango salsa to top it off... delicious! We had filet mignon tonight. Perfect cuts of meat. Staff is extremely friendly. Last year gave us step by step directions for our first Thanksgiving tutkey. A gem in Crystal Lake.

This is a great little shop! They have a nice selection of meats, cheeses, side salads, sauces and marinades. The meat is of a much higher quality than you can get at any of the grocery stores in town, and I think the prices are good. They also make sandwiches and serve homemade soups everyday. Yum. Their hot dogs are the best hot dogs I've ever had...they are GIANT. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They also have a nice selection of frozen, pre-seasoned or stuffed meats and fish for those nights when you're too tired or busy to put your all into dinner prep. Fridays they sell fresh fish unless it is a really busy weekend (like the Friday before a holiday). They don't take credit cards, but they do take debit cards and cash.One more thing...they will custom order most meats and seafood items for you, so if you have a recipe that calls for something unusual or hard to obtain, give them a call ahead of time!

A very cute butcher/specialty store in downtown CL. They have a great looking meat case with all diff cuts of meat from handmade sausages to steaks and even some frozen seafood.But the real reason I like coming here are for the dry goods. They have a great selection of dry soup/stew starter mixes that are from all around the country. They also sell Stone Wall Kitchen which is a very nice brand and carry a good amount of their products. Kalck's also has a wide variety of sauces, hot sauces, dressings, marinades, spice rubs and specialty spices.They also have a little wine room in the back with wines you won't see at your local grocery store. If you are looking for something special, go to Kalck's a look around. It's next door to Georgio's and across the street from the train station.

One of my favorite weekly routines is to stop at Kalck's, they have the best ribeyes and meat selections. I love to see all the women behind the counter and everyone is so friendly. I am always greeted with a friendly hello. The prices are fair and the quality is outstanding. Love this little gem in my town!

You will be surprised by the quality of the meat, the variety of choices, as well as the deli selection and daily homemade salads, etc. There are dry goods, as well as a freezer selection, drinks and milk.This family operated business takes the time to get to know you, and help if there's need for clarification or suggestions. What brings me back is the quality of food, family, nostalgia, and of course, the homemade chocolate chip cookies. OUTSTANDING!
