my husband and I went for the fish last night. it was the most horrible experience we have ever had anywhere. the fish was soaking in grease and was black. Jeff came over and asked how the fish tasted and my husband said it was awfully greasy and black. Jeff responded by saying, well the oil needs to be changed because it's sticking to the food. it was nasty and we couldn't eat it. He did not offer to pay for our meal or replace it. when the waitress came over and asked if we needed boxes I told her No, it was horrible. She said she was sorry but didn't offer to make it right either. You would think for a Friday Night fish fry, they would change the oil? we will never step foot in that place ever again. what a waste of $35!! wish I could post pics of what they advertise and what we received. you would be shocked. My wife and I were passing through Janesville and were hungry for some lunch. We wanted to try something new that wasn't a franchise style place. We found Jeff's Kitchen on Google and.yelp. We read some reviews and said let's give it a shot.We wantyou.to know we are very happy we stopped. The food was excellent, the owner was funny to talk with, and the place was clean. It checked all our boxes. Jeff made us feel welcome right when we walked through the door with his jokes. My wife and I both ordered two different types of a smash burgers. I had the Mushroom Swiss which was perfectly cooked with fries and house made Bbq sauce. Yum! Super Juicy, not overly greasy! My wife did thier special burger. We wish we had tried some chili because the other 10 people who came in after us all had the homemade chili. He makes everything in house from scratch. We appreciate that 100% We definitely will be back to visit again and see what is on his always changing menu next time we pass through Janesville. Thanks for the sample of his BBQ Ribs and some really tasty mango habenero sauce they were making fresh. Until next time , keep up the great work and the corny jokes

The lunch was delicious. My wife had a salmon fillet that was tasty and generous. My burger special included onion, mushrooms and blue cheese with peppercorn sauce. Delish!

My boyfriend and I were just around the corner of Jeff's Kitchen when we decided to give it a try. The food was super yummy and the service was great. He also makes his very own, homemade ice cream. We will definitely be coming back. :)

I tried to support this local spot but I didn't get to really try it because the owner said he threw my order away because I took too long to pick up my food. He claimed that he lost out and tried to charge me double to remake my meal. No thank you, I won't give you one cent of my hard earned money. Then you asked what I found unpleasant about you when I ordered over the phone, your entire demeanor is unpleasant and your handling of this situation was particularly unpleasant and unprofessional. Needless to say you didn't gain a new customer but based on your response you probably don't care and I'm okay with that. I hope that you figure out how to be respectful to everyone and that no one else has the same experience that I encountered with you. As a responsible adult I took accountability that I was late and I showed up ready to pay the amount you gave me on the phone. I didn't ask you for anything free. Don't try and paint a false narrative. The meal shouldn't have gone in the garbage in the first place. This will be my last response about this interaction, I refuse to continue to give you or this more attention. I hope you have the day that you deserve!

I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience at Jeff's Kitchen restaurant that I feel compelled to share. Over three separate visits, I encountered poor customer service, unprofessional behavior, and a complete lack of hospitality. On my first visit a ways back, I left not because anyone directly forced me to, but because I felt so uncomfortable and ignored by the waitress that it seemed like I didn't even exist to them. No one acknowledged us or made any effort to serve us, so we decided it was better to leave. I chalked it up to a bad day and decided to give them another chance.On my second visit, I specifically went there craving their pork tenderloin sandwich, which I had heard good things about. When we sat down and asked for it, we were told they didn't have it that day. Since that was the only reason we had come, we decided to leave and eat somewhere else where we could get what we wanted. Despite these two disappointing experiences, I still thought maybe I'd try again and give them one last chance.Unfortunately, my third visit was the worst of all. When we walked in, I noticed the man working there was completely alone, which now makes sense given how poorly the place is run. He briefly said he'd be with us soon, but after standing there for 10 minutes with no further acknowledgment or direction, I wasn't sure what to do. There was no sign saying whether we should wait to be seated or seat ourselves. Exhausted from a long day at work and desperate to sit down after standing for so long, I finally decided to take a seat in one of the booths that appeared open. A few minutes later, the same man came out and rudely told me, loudly and in front of other customers, that I needed to get out of the booth because it was reserved. At no point had he mentioned this before or offered any alternative seating. Frustrated and confused, I moved back toward the door and explained how long I'd been waiting and how tired I was. Instead of offering any kind of apology or solution, he snapped at me and told me if I was going to be impatient, I could leave. Shocked by his tone and lack of professionalism, I told him I would leave since there was clearly no customer service being offered here. He then yelled at me to get out of his establishment.This entire experience left me flabbergasted. At any point during those 10 minutes of waiting, he could have simply told us where to sit or explained the situation with the reserved booth. Instead, he chose to be rude and dismissive. After three attempts to give this place a chance, I can confidently say I will never return and cannot recommend it to anyone looking for even basic customer service or respect as a patron.
