When I see people post on social media asking "what's the best place to get jerk chicken around Milwaukee", some of the names that usually pop up are Uppa Yard, Pepper Pot, and Island Jam. I had never even heard of Jamaican Season Island until I stopped at the new location for Big Daddy's BBQ & Soul Food nextdoor. On my visit I ordered a large jerk chicken plate and one jerk chicken egg roll. The egg roll was huge and had a good ratio of jerk chicken to cabbage, but that was literally all that was inside the egg roll as far as I can tell. I've had jerk chicken egg rolls from a few different places and I prefer the one from Uppa Yard or one from the Jamaican food truck Frankie's Restaurant and Catering because they contain other ingredients besides just jerk chicken and cabbage. I'd get theirs again, but I'm not rushing back for it.The only sides for the jerk chicken plate were cabbage and rice and beans. If I recall correctly, other places like Pepper Pot and Uppa Yard allow you to pick your sides, so that was slightly disappointing. I took one bite of the rice and beans and didn't want another. Something about the taste was off-putting. The cabbage was just plain cabbage so nothing special there. The large plate came with two leg and thigh quarters. The jerk chicken was fine. I prefer the chicken from Pepper Pot because it's white meat and they chop it into pieces that are easier to eat on the go. If I can get the chicken by itself without the sides for a cheaper price I may order it again, but if it only comes with the sides I'd rather go to Pepper Pot.When you enter the vestibule there's a window to order from because the inside doors are locked. It's a shame because the bar area looks nice and the vestibule gets cramped quicklyif there's four or more people waiting.

Never got to try them. Just left the place. And it's closed. Their website mentions 3:30 pm as the opening time, Goggle shows 4:30 and Google map shows 4 pm. It is now 4:35 and not a soul in sight. Too bad, I was excited to try their food now I will have to drive myself to Uppa Yard.

I'm visiting from L.A. and I stumbled upon this GEM that was virtually empty. What's up Milwaukee? Why aren't you eating here? The food is delicious, the decor reminds me of being in Jamaica itself. And Deborah, the owner, is as sweet as pie. I had a jerk chicken dish that was as authentic as they come. It came w/rice & cabbage and I got the delicious plantain on the side. Y'all need to support this spot MKE. It would be a shame if this spot went out of business. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! She doesn't have a full staff right now, so dining in isn't always available unless you call in to let her know. So you can call in if you like. But I guarantee you, once you're there, you'll wanna chill inside.

Wow. Best Jamaican in MKE. This hideaway has amazing food. I can't decide between writing this review or eating more. I ordered the jerk chicken which is very well cooked, perfectly seasoned and comes with rice and cabbage for around $12. Fantastic. Only thing wrong was I didn't order plantains. Call ahead for prices and availability and to order (of course). This meal is cooked with love and rumor has it the chef/ owner is from Jamaica! I can't wait to go back and try more and add to this review!

I ordered from here a couple times and the food never disappoints. Jerk chicken and ox tails along with the egg rolls were what I tried and it's amazing every time. You might be expected to wait long because it is a family owned business, due to minimal staffing.

The cabbage was delicious as well. I've had both at other Jamaican restaurants and they do not compare. Bring your friends, have girls night, family dinner, Anniversary dinner...whatever! Just get here and experience this hidden Jamaican gem. You will not be disappointed!

Had the jerk chicken a couple weeks ago. It was soooo good. It comes with a side of cabbage, rice and carrots and a jerk sauce that is to die for. We took it home to go as the inside seating is not open yet. The meat falls off the bones and is so good. There is a lot of meat and not just back pieces as I have received from other places. Owner is very pleasant. Absolutely love this place and so do my taste buds! I crave it occasionally and have to go and pick some up!
