I have been going here for years and get the same great service every time! Some of the most friendly staff in the area. The sushi is always excellent.

Everything I've tried here, mostly Sushi , multiple visits, has been spot on FRESH (I prefer raw) and delicious ! Service and chefs are clearly top notch. Nice clean decor, Dine in or pickup, (haven't had delivery yet, prefer tipping staff, definitely delivery drivers too, but all too much $ COMBINED), everything is just the same lovely presentation. Definitely recommend

I'm going to be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect from this place and didn't really have high expectations. Some friends said it was good, so we gave it a try. Well, I was blown away! Our sushi was excellent. We tried the Crazy Roll and a Philadelphia Roll and I also ordered the Beef and Broccoli meal. The rolls where both excellent. Fresh, very tasty and had great presentation. The plate came with a little rose, which was a nice touch I've never seen before. The beef and broccoli meal came with soup, rice and 2 Crab Rangoons. I will be back for the sushi, but I will be craving the Rangoons! Maybe the best I've ever had. Everything was good but the Rangoons were the star of my meal. Manitowoc finally has a good sushi place!

Overall, the food at the Manitowoc location is good. The Guacamole Maki and Volcano Maki were excellent! The Chicken Don Buri was merely ok (the rice lacked flavor). The Miso Soup was bland. Tempura was very good, as was the Gyoza (although Gyoza was served warm rather than hot).Plain ambiance but pleasant service. Wine is limited and subpar.

I came here for lunch on a Sunday with my wife and friends. The place was nearly empty, so we had our choice of tables. I loved the lunch special. The Makai B. was the special I ordered. This is a spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and California roll. 24 pieces for $15.00. You can't beat that kind of lunch special for sushi. The only thing was the sushi had a weird texture. The taste was good, but there was something about the texture that turned me off. If you have had other sushi, you would know that it should feel smooth in your mouth. This sushi was grainy, almost like they added bread crumbs to it. The California roll was perfect, but the other two had a wietd texture. I will be back because the menu has many other items I would like.

Stopped in for dinner, it was not real busy, but as we were parking several people were leaving. Dining area was nice looking and comfortable. The waitress was friendly and attentive, she was a little quiet. We order Chinese meals and we both enjoyed them.

Heard nothing but good things about this place so we had to try it ourselves. When you come in it is a very neat, clean, and inviting atmosphere. We got seated right away and our waitress was very prompt in following up with us frequently. We ordered a wide variety of sushi and rolls. Everything was fresh and extremely well plated, you will see what I mean in the pictures I have attached. This place makes you feel like you are in the big city and a fine dining restaurant. The prices are perfectly in line also, not cheap, and not overpriced. We can't wait to go back, a job well done , keep doing what you are doing from front of house, to kitchen, to waitressing.

Three things add up to a five star review..food, service and ambiance. Izumi checks he boxes for me. Walked in the door and was immediately greeted and taken to a clean and ready booth. This place is new so the dining area was comfortably laid out with plenty of spacing between customers. The booths give you a feeling of privacy and the noise is minimal.Within minutes we were approached by a friendly young waitress. We asked for hot tea, followed by miso soup and a small salad. I'd say we had it in three minutes. We then ordered crab rangoon, shrimp tempura and a godzilla roll. The rangoon came out as we took our last bite of salad. The rangoon was absolutely delicious, with a nice combination of creamy and crunch.Just as we were taking our last bites, out came our main courses. My gosh, the servings were prodigious! The presentation was very appealling to the eye. The food was not only delicious but beautiful.Just a bit of advice...if you're going to have appetizers like we did, you will struggle to finish your meal. We left packed to the gills.I have a feeling this restaurant is the rebirth of the Tokyo Sushi place that used to be on Washington street. If so, I am very glad to see them back.Bottom line, this is a very comfortable restaurant that serves delicious food with a good attitude.Definately a nice addition to downtown Manitowoc. If you're looking for sushi or Asian fusion food it would behoove you to patronize the Izumi restaurant. You're in for a treat!

I love the sushi options at Izumi because they offer combinations I don't see elsewhere. It's a relaxed atmosphere, not too loud so makes for a good date place. Service good.
