The only place in town that sells both carpets and za'atar
My lamb kebab platter sadly suffered from dry, under seasoned meat and slightly stale pit bread. Can't recommend.

I was there mainly to get fresh mutton. While there I got some food items as well. Lamb kabob and chicken gyro were my entrees and both were ok. The pastry display was tempting, so I went for a beef pastry and a chicken pastry. Beef pastry was my favorite, and it was over in the display within 10 minutes of my purchase. I also tried 2 Wisconsin made drinks - Cucumber ginger and ginger hibiscus. Both had extreme ginger punch. Fresh mutton was also just ok.

Nice selection of Eastern European and Turkish food products, beautifully tasty hot shwarma, Turkish tea and aryan. You can't find Aryan anywhere in the USA except something called kefir which isn't even close to taste. The service was excellent as well!

Istanbul Market is a known grocery story among the Russian/Eastern Europeans in the area. Within this establishment, a plethora of imported goods can be found. From grains, to sweets and canned goods - this is the closest thing in Madison to being transported to a shop on that side of the world. Where Istanbul Market really stole my heart and stomach is with their sandwiches. After 1pm, you can call the store and have them make you a Chicken Schawrma wrap, a Kabob wrap, or a Fallafel wrap for pick-up...and they're the most delicious sandwhiches I've had in Madison yet and theyre made with Halal and kosher ingrdients. But that's not all. At just $5 a piece, the quality for the price is absolutely unbeatable by anything else in this city. Absolutely insane trifecta of quality, price and size for your buck. In all honesty, I wanted to keep this as my own secret seeing as though they don't advertise, but the world needs to know! I highly reccomend.

Went here looking for specific items to make Persian herb stew. What an amazing place! I'm used to big city middle eastern stores and this is not that. But for Madison, it's great. Bought meat and everything except the fresh herbs. And a few things I didn't know I needed. Man behind the counter was friendly and helpful. I gave it only four stars because I would have liked some fresh bakery and produce. I will try the prepared food next time. This place smells wonderful!

I did not try the fast food counter, I only go for groceries. It's a good ethnic grocery store. It has a few things that I looked hard for and could not find anywhere else in the area. Dried broad beans, dried fava beans. Real pita bread. Creamy feta cheese. Dudes, did you know that pita bread doesn't have to suck? Real pita bread is not those little hard circles with a pocket that never, ever holds together when filled. Real pita bread is bigger, flatter, rolled around the food, has a bit of texture and flavor. You'll find the good shit in the freezer all the way to the left wall as you walk in. It's very cheap as well. Stop buying that pocket pita crap from the main grocers. They say the meats are halaal, which I can't think of anywhere else around here off the top of my head to go if you're into that sort of thing. It's three stars because other than a very small list of unique yet essential ingredients, they don't have much to offer that you can't get somewhere else. And they don't really stock stuff not used in middle eastern food. You couldn't go here for your Turkish stuff and also find produce/Indian/East Asian stuff. Every trip here is for very specific stuff.

I went on a Sunday morning to buy Simit (TurkishBagel). I ended up buying a few grocery store items also. I went back later that week to get kebab and pida. Everything is delicious! Staff are friendly. Don't go expecting a dine in restaurant. It is a store that also makes great food to go. The store has a variety of meats, cheese, snacks, spices, teas, and other things. I lived In Istanbul for 5 months years ago and I am happy that I found this place :)
