My favorite little beer garden in town. Beautiful location right next to the river--you can hear the water rushing by.The beer garden has a good selection of beer and some food items, plus you can order food to go from the Hubbard Park Lodge next door. There are plenty of tables and even some toys for children to play with. Very laid back atmosphere. Easily accessible via the Oak Leaf Trail.

We visited Hubbard Park Beer Garden last Friday night with some friends. Located right off the Oak Leaf Trail, it's a perfect destination after a walk, jog, or bike ride (like we did - there are plenty of bike racks available)! Picnic tables are set up spaced apart for distancing (check the table toppers to see whether the table is clean or dirty), and visitors head to the booth to place their orders for delicious food and drink. Our party ended up getting a giant pretzel ($8) for the table, 4 orders of fish fry ($15 each), and some beer ($6/half pint). The pretzel was soft and delicious, and the fish fry was generously portioned with 3 filets, a potato pancake, fries, coleslaw, tartar sauce, applesauce, and 2 slices of rye bread. Dress warmly for the cool fall weather and come check it out before the season ends!

What a magical place! A beer garden nestled amongst trees, abutting a bike path, and only accessible on foot by walking through a metal viaduct pipe? Sign me up! We carried in some local Shorewood restaurant fare, and enjoyed the nice selection of craft brews at the beer garden, in a perfect idyllic setting. Social distancing and food/drink ordering protocols were being handled well, and it was really nice to be outdoors, among people again. The beer garden does have light snacks or heavier fare, such as a fish fry meal, but also encourages outside dining carry-in. My mom told me that her group used to brunch at the Hubbard Park Lodge, not so long ago. The Hubbard Park Beer Garden is truly a delight, and there's still time to get there this summer!

Sweet little spot, tucked away and seemingly hidden, under shady trees and with a view of the sparkling Milwaukee River. There's something magical about this place. I'm still not sure how to get here by car, but it has an entrance right off the Oak Leaf Trail, and you can also walk up the steps from the more rugged walking trail beside the river. I hear you can walk through a tunnel if parking nearby...As the weather is getting colder (mid-November 2020), there's less people, but it's still nice to sit out for a plate of fish fries after a brisk walk through a nature trail. We had a liter of IPA that comes in a to-go cup per covid precautions, and the cup looked somewhat small... but we went home and measured it (yea, we're geeks) and it holds exactly 1 liter of liquid. Because the weather was so cold, the beer kept getting better the longer we sat out, because it kept getting colder. Fish fries were amazing - 3 pieces of cod, with fries, potato pancakes, rye bread, tartar sauce, apple sauce, butter and coleslaw. Fries were also just the way I like, but I wasn't wowed by the potato pancakes. We were eating there, but everything was served on a to-go plate with a bag, so if we had leftovers it would've been easy to just pack and go. But we were walking back 2 miles through the nature trail, so we ate everything up.Covid-19 - they have these wooden blocks with green and red painted on them to indicate clean/used tables, and the staff seems pretty spot on in getting things cleared and disinfected right away. There is a plastic divider between cashier and customer, on top of mask enforcement. And others frequenting the place seems much more aware of keeping their masks on except when at their table eating, even families with children. (unlike Estabrook Beer Garden, which is really a more free for all)The owner (or manager? not sure) told us they would be starting up a new menu for the winter season (he said "next week" on 11/13/2020). You can call ahead to reserve one of the domes they have set up. It's free to use, but you need to reserve ahead, and spend at least $200 on food/drink. Each dome will fit up to 6 people. It's a really nice concept, and as long as it's not freezing cold, it would be nice to gather a few friends or family. The new items on the new menu seemed pretty fancy, and I'd be excited to try. some items he mentioned included elk steak, lobster ravioli and blackened salmon. Mmmm~

Absolutely beautiful oasis in the heart of the Milwaukee! Hubbard Park is a picture perfect beer garden nestled among the trees along the Milwaukee River, and right off a trail, making it easy for those biking or walking along to stop for a quick break. We parked in a little cul de sac just outside the park and wandered up to the beer garden. It was a BEAUTIFUL sunshiney November day with surprisingly warm weather. Despite this, it was pretty quiet here, making me think Hubbard Park Beer Garden may still be one of MKE's best kept secret. We were greeted by picnic tables and igloos scattered among the trees and fall leaves. We ordered at a little walk-up cabin window. The staff working was pleasant, welcoming, and explained that we are given a chip with our steins of beer, and once returned we receive $5! This was a great way to encourage everyone to return the steins and clean up after themselves to keep the park clean. They were all out of cider so I went with a spotted cow, a Wisconsin favorite. This was my first time trying out spotted cow and I have to say, I understand the hype now. I ordered the soft pretzel as well which was delicious! We sat at a picnic table with the pups and enjoyed one of our last warmer days outside before winter hits. It was a perfect afternoon here at Hubbard Park, and I hope to back next fall!

This beautiful place has reopened, and with great precautions I might add. As most people, we had been craving the outdoors and some much needed social time so when I hear this beer garden was open, we were all over it.Its venue is perfection, tucked away along the river. Bike baths and greenery surround it. To our surprise when we arrived, there were lots of people (safely spread out) occupying many of the 30 picnic tables. There was a diligent team working to clean each table after use, even using red and green blocks to indicate the sanitation. There were also marks along the sidewalk set 6ft apart to stretch to line to the bar a bit. Glasses were never re-used, but instead to be dropped off at a specific cleaning station. I trust spending time there and think they've done a great job overall with precautionary measures. I started with a Deep Eddy's vodka lemonade which was delicious. I normally can't have more than one however because of preference on sweetness, so I not long switched to beer. They have a lot of great options on tap. Most of us went with the cold and flavorful hefeweizen in a liter size. Yes, liter! Don't worry, there are smaller options as well. We didn't eat but there are eats available including the popular giant pretzel, perfect to share.I highly recommend this beer garden. You'll likely see me there!

This is a really lovely location for a beer garden.A friend and I visited for a couple of drinks and ordered a to-go fish fry.The staff was diligent about sanitizing tables and social distancing measures. The food pick up area is a little obscure.Drinks were good and affordable. The signage could use an update to clarify areas of interest. The fish fry itself was okay. Good fish, dry potato pancakes. All in all, this is a win though.

What a magical little beer garden tucked away in Hubbard Park! We stopped at this place after seeing all the great reviews on Yelp--thanks yelp community! We loved the pretzel and beer cheese we had (YUM) and how it was just like a beer garden in Germany since you were able to "rent" a half liter or liter glass with a deposit. There are a ton of mature trees, and it was a perfect place to sit back and enjoy the Milwaukee summer weather. The only con I had was the customer service. It was our first time being there, and after ordering our pretzel we waited about 20 minutes but it never came out. Evidently you had to go to a side window and ask for them to start heating it. We had to go up and ask if we had missed a step on getting our food and they looked at us like we were dotty.

Hubbard itself is a beautiful park, and the beer garden, tucked in between the old Womens' Club (now River Club) and Hubbard Lodge is, imo, one of the nicest beer gardens in the Milwaukee area. We've been there twice recently, once on a Friday night and had their terrific fish fry (actually baked, but I heard the fried was equally good) and again last week. We had friends in from Atlanta, and reserved one of the cabanas ($30/2 hours) for 7 of us. The cabanas have cloth-covered long tables big enough for 10, a canopy, and mesh screening in case of bad weather or mosquitoes but we didn't need to use it. We brought our own food and bought beer and wine there. An evening with friends, along the river and under the trees - it couldn't have been more perfect.
