I love this place! I even bought a T-shirt, so you know it's serious. I love the beers they offer. It's like you're in a pub from Ireland or England. Their Irish coffees are freaking delicious. No food, no BS, just a freaking pub. Knock back some pints. Have a couple of shots of Irish whiskey and shed the days stress.

House of Guinness is a classic staple of night life in Waukesha. Dim lighting, dark wood walls and bar, and live music. This the perfect place for conversation, as you can actually hear yourself talk in here. Refreshingly, there are only a few (maybe two?) TVs in the place. They are only on for the World Cup, Packers game, and sometimes Brewers/Bucks if you ask, otherwise it's alternative music playing through an iPad. The taps are filled with imports, as well as some local crafts. The back bar is filled with not just Irish whiskey, but other impressive whiskey/bourbon. Oh, and since the new ownership took over their cocktail game has been strong, which is a warm welcome to Waukesha. Their cocktail menu shifts with the season and features their housemade bitters. The food menu is limited to Emil's pizza, Milwaukee Pretzel Co pretzel with cheese and mustard, and Pop's Kettlecorn. Oh, and how could I forget that they offer free kettle chips. For Packer games I've seen them offer brats or hot ham rolls, among other food patrons have brought in to share. My favorite thing about HoG? Whiskey Club. Come in anytime, get a sheet at no cost, and start drinking some whiskey/bourbon. The goal? Drink 40 different whiskeys. Along the way you'll get incentives, like a whiskey on the house, free pint of beer, etc. Once you hit 40 you're hand a button up shirt and are officially a member. Members have access to special meetings where the bar will be shutdown to just members for speciality tastings, classes and more. Oh, don't just stop at 40, there is an 80 level, and even a 100 level! For someone with little understanding of whiskey other than I like it in my old fashioned, hah, I'm 13 whiskeys in and I've already learned a lot. The bartenders are eager to share their whiskey wisdom, as are other patrons. If I had to list a negative... I wish the food menu was just a tiny bit bigger, as after three double pours of whiskey I need some kind of real sustenance. Perhaps something like a chip dip for the kettle chips and baked chicken wings, since they do not have a full kitchen/fryer.

A typical Irish pub and tavern not too any people in the place when I went. Typical big Irish brands few television and dark n Irish bar look. The other bars around were more hopping and seemed more entertaining and this bar might have better nights than tgevone I went to

Was our first stop on our party bus tour! What a stop, had a lot of fun here and you know I had a Guinness! It was St. Patty's Day weekend when we were here, so got some free Jameson gear! Had so much fun would come back if I'm back in Waukesha!

Stopped for a quick beer on a Saturday. Met the bartender, Chad. Had a great conversation about the bar and Waukesha. Beautiful place! Was happy to see that the NFL Draft was on one of the TVs. Thanks for the visit. The beer too!

As far as I know, this bar is as close as it comes to a real Irish pub. If you're looking for the faux-Irish, there are other places you can go - Mo's perhaps.Anyways - great, friendly staff, been non-smoking since mid-winter time. My absolute favorite is the Scottish ale they have on tap. Prices are downright reasonable.

Excellent Irish pub. Everything one would be looking for in a genuine European watering hole: dark wood decor, Guiness theme throughout, accurate and tasty drinks, fun bartenders, and down-to-earth patrons. I was looking for a legitimate Black & Tan and the bartender, B.C., hooked me up. I always start at House of Guiness when I do a night downtown.

I've been frequenting House of Guinness for the last 10 years and it has consistently remained one of my favorite pubs. The beer selection is great and it's the only place I know that carries Boddingtons on nitro. Their Irish whisky selection is solid though not massive but this is a small pub. The staff is friendly as are the regulars. This is a great place to meet friends for a point or a dram.

H.O.G. is a great place to catch up with friends. The new voluntary n/s policy is really a plus. Good music, a great pint of guiness and excellent service. The fact that there are no jukeboxes, televisions, electonic dart machines, etc., afford the guest an opportunity to engage in conversation and enjoy the people around. There is no food offered, so the establishment can focus on what they do best: pour a great pint.Cheers to H.O.G.!

As a bar, HOG is second to none. It's homey, the bartenders are amiable, the musicians are good, and the draft beer selection is versatile. I also enjoy their Tuesday night trivia. The new food is decent and a good go-to if you're already there and hungry, but I wish they had more appetizer-sized items to munch on during non-meal times. Keep in mind that this is a pub...no table service, just a shout out from the bartender when your food is ready. I find that really endearing.I noticed they put in a big-screen TV, too. I hope it doesn't end up staying on all the time. This is a great place to sit and chat without distractions (unless it's Tuesday!).
