Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant

Personally will not come back here when there are so many different places. Some food were OK- others was inedible. Too many better places for my chinese fix nearby from Grayslake- I definitely will stick with my main HK from Mundelein for sure. Grabbed the physical menu when I went in to order and looked at it as online was too dense with not much info going- Physical menu is kind of weird when it comes to lunch/combo platter one side has some type of combo with egg roll on it other side only white or fried rice. Customer service with the plastic barrier made it seem less friendly. At this stage its very Tacky cloudy plastic barrier- no class whatsoever that should have been my second alarm bells going off when they did not bother to make it look nicer- First alarm bell one was when I walked in- stacks of carboard stuffed in the pop fridge? On the table? In the kitchen? Great for large takeout orders but with that faded sign barely showing the restaurant name and parking lot being kind of Round Lake. i felt like I walked in a homeless shelter for goodness sake. This was not a good first impression. When I was trying to choose, 4 people came in to pick up their orders. Clientle base seemed diverse. Eldery lady to the young lady dashing in giving me hope this was just the appearance of this place. Ordered and only had to wait 5 minutes! I ordered egg drop soup, orange chicken combo with pork egg roll and crab rangoon with cream cheese today. Egg roll- cabbage carrots pork - generic tasting nothing unique definitely can get the same thing from the food store freezer aisle (im lil of a snob with egg rolls) no homemade sauce- the generic sauce packet was available to grab Orange Chicken was made with dark meat and imagine chewing on chicken jerky- yes this was how annoying it was for me- it's infuriating when places overcook/fry the chicken to make it into stringy/jerk dish. Quit trying to make a meal out of it after 3 bites. Sauce itself nothing special- generic orange sauce with similar base to any dishes but dash of orange flavoring added to it. The fried rice- it was like eating couscous it was breaking apart yet al dente/firm like it needed to be steamed a tad bit more. Salty. Just grossest fried rice i have had better from the microwaved tv dinners. The egg drop soup could have done with more egg white. Too thick. Yeah like overdone with gelatin additive but not affect its taste. It was plain and not offending at all- just barebones. Would not upset anyone with fragile stomach to try this soup. If i had to eat there again its definitely the egg drop soup. Not salty at all. Crabmeat rangoon was the usual sweet/cream cheese type with imitation crabmeat in it. Nice amount I wouldnt complain at all- but one was more than enough for me due to the sweet factor. Now im dinging this place for no homemade sweet and sour sauce, not friendly face/tacky barrier, jerky chicken dish and royally missing the mark on fried rice. I am happy I ordered soup for once to keep me full til dinnertime.

Looks like a dump but the food is absolutely fire. Low mein noodles are the best around, no comparison. Sweet and sour chicken and mongo beef are bomb. The soup is real decent. Love a good hole in the wall.

Ordered the sesame chicken dinner that comes with pork fried rice and a pork egg roll. Then added an appetizer of crab Rangoon. While enjoying the sesame chicken that tasted phenomenal, I was preparing to right a good review here. Then I tried the crab rangoon... the first piece did not have any filling. So I tried another, which also had no filling. Nevertheless, the entire order was not filled with the cream cheese/crab mix. I felt disappointed and here I am, giving this type of feedback. The sesame chicken turned out great and the order was ready fairly quick. But the crab rangoon needs some improvement. (The lady also didn't have the sweet and sour sauce in the bag, thankfully I looked.)

Disgustingly dirty!!! Where are the inspectors, this place would not pass an inspection. Filthy and the people who work there seem like slave laborers , horrible service. I grew up in the area and this place hasn't been remodeled or cleaned in about 20 years. Another thing they do is: no matter what dish you order, same veggies and all the dishes taste similar. This place gets a : please close down and clean yourself from me.

It's good food for what you pay. Always moreThan you can eat in one sitting. If your feeding a family on budget go here.

I only ordered chicken rice soup for take out, so I trust they have better dishes that ring people's bells especially when craving American chinese. That said, 80% of the container seemed to be rice, with bad broth and little tiny shriveled up pieces of chicken and a few green onions sprinkled on top. I'm thankful that I had some Asian mixed veggies, broth and some herbs at home to Doctor the soup who was intended for my partner with a sour stomach. The cashier was a nice girl.

Absolutely delicious. My family loves this place. The egg rolls are amazing. Lots of vegetarian options too.

Quick food on the go. Plenty of food in each dish. Prices have gone up so make sure you have a current menu. Do not use the menus on Google and such. They are old. I wish they would concentrate on their front 5 table front. It is well worn and needs a big update.

Horrible!!! Ordered couple dinner items and couldn't be more disappointed. Kung pao chicken had no chicken but whole plate of celery and all all I could taste was salt. Lo Mein dish was tasteless with long black hair in it, we were disgusted and toss everything in the trash!!!We should have known by the look of this place, but decided to give them a try. Will not be returning to this "restaurant "!

The restaurant doesn't look that great from the outside and the inside is dated, but the food was made fast and it was good. I tried this restaurant for the 1st time during this Coronavirus pandemic. The staff has a good, safe set up for picking up your food. They were friendly also. The food was good and the portions were decent. I got beef fried rice, egg drop soup and lemon chicken. The beef fried rice was good. The egg drop soup was good and it came with fried wonton strips. The lemon chicken came with white rice and it was good, but I was surprised at the presentation. There was no sauce, just breaded cooked chicken on a bed of lettuce with lemon wedges on the side. I feel like I did get my money's worth. I will be back to try other food items.
