We were looking for something to do before our 1pm train. While searching the Key Milwaukee Magazine, we had ran across this company offering walking tours. The company offers various tours on various days and times. The Downtown tour was about 1.5 - 2 hrs long and walked about 2 miles in the downtown area. The beginning point was across the street from the Hilton Garden Inn, so we thought we'd check it out. The website lists all of the information the tour so wear comfortable shoes. The tour began at 10am and Dave was our tour guide. We had stopped at various buildings and he had told us about the history of the locations. Overall, we had stopped at 10 different locations including the Grand Avenue Mall, Hilton Garden Inn, and the lakefront.I would recommend checking out this walking tour company and I will check out other tours.

This is the organization responsible for putting on one of the coolest annual events in any city, Doors Open.DO is held annually in September coordinating so well is an enormous undertaking that Historic Milwaukee does so well! From the advertising campaign (DO Milwaukee) to the number of sites (well over 100 options) to the partnerships (too many to mention) and the volunteers (over 600 in 2014), Historic Milwaukee manages all the moving parts and presents and awesome program showing off the city. When would you have the opportunity to tour the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewer District (and take home your own bag of milorganite to boot)? Or Tour the Jones Island Water Reclamation facilityOr traverse 601 feet to the top of the tallest building in the state, the US Bank Center for a bird's eye view. And if that's your thing there's the top of Milwaukee City Hall (after you take in the splendor of the 10 story rotunda). Or, if you like water there's a RiverWalk Tour with a plethora of Milwaukee history. Hotels, Libraries And Churches are also well represented. In addition to being responsible for this magnificent event, Historic Milwaukee runs tours and special events year round exposing thousands of people to our great city.So check out their website, sign up for a tour, donate, or buy a membership. Engage in someway with this fabulous organization, you'll be glad you did!

I have so far enjoyed three walking tours from the company. All three were wonderful experiences with great guides who taught me a lot about the city. I'm so grateful that the tours are a solid length (when I tour neighborhoods or museums, I subscribe to the more is better theory) and affordable. One more great thing about Historic Milwaukee is that they have a shop with some truly cool items. If you want to better know Milwaukee, check these guys out.

Wow, what an interesting and wonderful free tour! I'm originally from Wisconsin and was in town for a wedding, so thought I would try one of their tours. I chose the architectural tour, which was just over 2 hours. I learned a ton about Milwaukee's founding and its history. Even though it is around 2 hours it isn't that much walking. Really fascinating and I can't recommend it enough. Take this tour! Did I mention its free?! Cheers to the Cream City - I will be back and I'll be taking a couple of your other tours. Thank you!
