Hillery's Kenosha Bar-Bq

This is one of those "finger lickin" good places that's worth the drive to eat at. When I grew up in northern Ill, we use to eat at Hillery's from time-to-time. I don't recall a bad experience here. The Beef BBQ ribs are the standard!! If you're not careful, you'll wind up eating the sauce-covered tin foil as well!! :) It's hard to find good BBQ beef ribs, and this place does it right. The sides compliment the main curses perfectly.One of my fave stops in Kenosha.

When the wind is just right, you can smell the BBQ for miles. MMMMMMMMM. Lot of combos available and portions are good. I had the ribs...tender and delicious! Great sauces for the ribs. Prices are a little steep, but that's our economy! Plenty of seating and parking.

I've been ordering from this location for twenty years. Now they no longer pick up the phone for a phone order. It would be one thing if you ordered at the counter and waited the customary 10 minutes like all the other Hillary locations I've eaten at. The first one was North Chicago IL, then Waukegan IL, then also Zion which has tried twice to stay open. You order and within ten minutes you can leave with your meal Not Kenosha where I've waited up to an hour! How do you expect me to only order at the counter then wait that amount of time Poor business model and bad customer service. I don't care how much I like the food you have made it impossible for me to enjoy it.

The best dang ribs around Love the food there been going there a long long time . Great people . Family business

Fries was burnt cooked in old grease and sauce for ribs pure water and meat was tough every since that lady has been there without her husband the place has turned absolutely disgusting never again shut this place or get a whole new management team please and thanks

Well... sad but true, Hillary's isn't what they used to be . I grew up in Lake County Illinois, i grew up eating at Hillary's there in North Chicago. I've been living in the south since 2004. When I came up here to visit I was soooo happy to see there was a Hillary's here in Kenosha. I am so sorry to say that they aren't the quality that they used to be, maybe new owners ? I placed a pretty big order for our family including a slab of ribs and the small combo pack. The fish was catfish not the perch that I ordered, it was so terribly overcooked it didn't really even look like fish inside the breading, and the smell ! It was really fishy smelling. Inedible. Our Oder was supposed to have a slab of ribs, nope, it wasn't there, there was an extra order of rib tips tho. Maybe that was supposed to be a replacement ? That was okay, but it would have been nice to have been asked if I wanted the substitution. And the sauces...... for 6 pieces of fish there 3 tiny squeeze packs of tartar sauce..... The rib tips were decent, we liked those and the chicken was good. But I will not be ordering from them again.

I first started going to Hillary's when I lived in North Chicago, 1970! Hillary's was also the choice of many of the Abbott Labs employees. If someone knew you were going out to Hillary's there were multiple orders to pick-up. When I moved to Kenosha, we would ride down to Waukegan and pickup orders. The service was not the same, but the food was on point. I have had ribs, rib-tips and catfish. When Hillary's opened in Kenosha, I was really glad because I wouldn't have to go to Illinois. The food now was just "okay", nothing to brag about, so I would occasionally go back to Waukegan and Zion. For the past few 5 years or more, I eat sporadically from Hillary's, but am always on the lookout for some "delicious" ribs. The quality of the ribs has sunk so low, that the only good part is the sauce. Ever so often I would get a decent meal, but it so seldom, that I have chosen not to go, if there is anywhere else I can go to. Finally, my husband and I ordered a small rib tips order; one with hot sauce and the other, with mild sauce. We didn't expect much, and we were not dissapointed. The very first piece was amazingly chewy. And each piece afterwards was worse. I thought if I let it sit in the sauce for awhile, the pieces would soften up. That did not happen. My husband eventually tossed his order. I tried to eat mine, but it was like chewing on leather, merely an exercise for your jaws. I am done! And this saddens me because I was there when Hillary first started selling barbecue out of his garage. He's no longer with us, and the business bearing his name is a disgrace.

DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM HERE!!! The lady in the front ghetto af and unprofessional. I ordered catfish and called to let them know that they gave me SWAI FISH, & she hung up on me & I ordered a small rib tip in which the ribs were so greasy!! Absolutely horrible and a waste of money . I WILL NEVER EVER purchase food from this hillerys location again & honestly they should be shut down. I'll stick to waukegan from now on.

Worst customer service ever. The lady hung up on me mid order so I call back to finish my order then went to pick up my order and nothing is correct that I had ordered and she has the worst attitude ever!!!! Never going back

The food was absolutely HORRIBLE!!! The catfish was cut so thin..... Then they gave me a super thin and small fillet and a super thin catfish steak.... The rib tips were hard and chewy!!! The outside of the tips were hard as a brick!! This is the last time I will ever go there for anything!!! The best part of the the food was the white bread which is utterly sad!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
