Hilander Foods

Hilander is in the Kroger grocery food store family, so I was quite familiar with the setup and bakery items available. It was clean, didn't have a funky smell and the staff were all very nice.The produce was super fresh and we found everything we needed in the selection available. That's important when you plan on feeding a crowd of 45... yes, we made 20 pounds of potato salad. Not even lying.I also noticed that fresh sushi was being made in the deli area. Surprising to see in Rockford, Ill!And one more thing. This Texas girl isn't used to seeing more than beer and wine (if that) in your local grocery store. Apparently all other states are cool and SELL LIQUOR IN THEIR GROCERY STORES!How good did it feel to buy a bottle of Patron while picking up sandwich meats?Damn good.

I wish I had a Highlander by me!! Amazing prices, great selection, and very clean!! When visiting my sister in Rockford, I found everything I needed for our Memorial Day BBQ here at fantastic sale prices. I got a big thing of Taco Dip for $4.99. Score!!Also, kudos for them for putting out self-serve free samples. We ended up sampling the mild salsa, and it is by far the best salsa ever. I picked some up right then and there, and the guests ate it until it was ALL GONE!! Fantastic!!
