We've lived in the Heights for 8+ years and this was my first trip to Highland Lanes. First, know that it's mostly league bowling so call ahead of you are wanting free bowl. They only have like 8 lanes. Second, it's so old school it hurts (in a good way). Yeah, it's a dive but it's very clean, the drinks are cheap and my husbands rental shoes were...extraordinary.Third, did I mention it's cheap? Tito's soda -$4, High life - )3. The staff is really nice too. I'm not a good bowler at all - my last score was 18, but I had a great time here. If you miss old Falcon Bowl you should be checking this place out.

I love this little neighborhood bowling alley!Located right on Vilet in the heart of Washington Heights, Highland Lanes is a glimpse into the past and a whole lotta fun in the present all wrapped up in one. A small, slightly dive-y neighborhood bowling alley, Highland Lanes has 9 lanes, a bar ample enough to gather 'round post-bowling (and to keep those pitchers flowing during bowling), and a staff that's as friendly as one might expect from a neighborhood alley (which is to say a gruff brand of friendly that is entirely appropriate and even endearing). Given the size of the alley, their selection of bowling balls to borrow during open bowling isn't stellar, but we've always been able to find a bowling ball that does the trick (rolls straight and knocks down pins). One important note: Open bowling times are extremely limited. We actually joined a league so that we could bowl every other Saturday evening and so happy we did!Get to it!

We had another wonderful experience at Highland Lanes between Festival movies at The Times. A wonderful bartender, a great crowd, great drinks. A great place to stop in for a drink.

I love the guys at Highland Lanes. It appears Mimi never bowled there, much less set foot inside, so she has nothing to say about the people inside. I can definitely say whatever happened to her friend had nothing to do with race. It is a fun place to bowl run by some great people.Join a league, have some fun!
