Popular local place, but I'm not sure why. Bland American-Chinese food, though the service is good. I think the problem is a lack of competition, a place like this would never survive if there were a real Chinatown in Milwaukee. The nearest authentic place is a 30 minute drive. I think the next time I get dragged here, I'm going to try their burger and fries.

First time here while visiting brother. Excellent service and food. Huge portions and Harvey made all the food choices for us and all were beyond good. Best Chinese food I've ever had. Looking forward to bringing Jim here during our next visit.

I've been here twice and I think that was enough. It wasn't necessarily horrible, the food was edible but you might as well save some time and just get a frozen bag of food from a grocery because that's what it tastes like. I was disappointed and how long our food took just for it to taste like a frozen TV dinner. I've had better meals from Chinese takeout. And it's also not the best to be sitting there with your family trying to have a dinner and watching a group of what I assume is the workers kids, in a blocked off area. A curtain or something would be nice.

Having enjoyed their pressed duck as takeout (although I've had better), I was eager to dine in the beautiful room I saw when I picked that up. Arriving for our reservation last night, I was fully expecting to have a 4- or 5-star experience. Alas, the signs were not good, from the outset.Waiting in the front seating area, I immediately found myself hoping they wouldn't seat us there . . . because the loveliness of that room is spoiled by not one, but two TVs on the walls. (NOTE to all restaurateurs: I can look at screens of various sizes at home if I want to, thank you very much. I don't need to see the damn things everywhere and every-when that I go. Part of what I pay for when dining out is the atmosphere. Unless your enterprise is a sports bar, those intrusive, omnipresent, ugly black plastic rectangles detract from that atmosphere. Tacky, tacky, tacky.) So, when we were being led to a table in that room, I politely asked if we might instead dine in the other room. The hostess resisted; I persisted. I switched into Honest Mode, telling her how tacky the TVs were, and that I didn't want to see them while I dined. She made one last, incredible effort to dissuade us: She said that the service might be slow in there, because, for some reason I couldn't understand, they find it hard to "get to" it. Utter nonsense. The two rooms are adjoining. As she finally relented and led us to a table there, I said, "I'm sure they'll be able to find us". (NOTE: All of those tables had place settings, so it was clear that this was not some remote outpost that wasn't intended, and wouldn't foreseeably be used, to seat patrons.)Knowing full well that I probably should have gone for some authentic and interesting Chinese dish I'd never had before, I nevertheless had a hankering for good ol' fried rice. (When done well, in a good restaurant, it's flavorful, colorful and enticing, with large shrimp, pieces of chicken, etc.) I started out with a good ol' reliable egg roll, and pan fried pot stickers. It's hard to understand how this much-praised establishment could score oh for three, but they managed to do so (actually, oh for four, or oh for five, counting the TVs and that amazing, convoluted seating logic):* The egg roll, although tasty enough to finish, was only rendered appealing via my customary blending of the mustard and sweet/sour sauce. However, it was impossible to tell which protein(s), if any, the innards contained, because of the uniform darkness of the dark brown color prevailing within (a depressing hue that also marred the fried rice; see below).* Initially astounded and pleased by the size of the pot stickers (bigger by far than any I'd had before), my joy dissipated when I found that: (a) The proportion of dough to filling was EXTREMELY lopsided; and (b) They were quite pale on the outside, with none of the telltale searing that a potsticker displays when it's been properly, thoroughly and pleasingly finished. In short, these were doughy and basically raw tasting. Even if the dipping sauce had been a tasty, quality one -- but alas, no -- it wouldn't have made much difference.* And then, there was the uniform BROWNNESS of the entire fried rice dish. Guys, you do know that COLOR is one aspect of fine foods that makes them enticing, don't you? From not only that dark color, but the taste of the grain itself, I truly couldn't tell if I'd been served rice or buckwheat. (Hey, I love buckwheat, when it's something I've chosen to eat. Buckwheat groats -- aka "kasha" -- are a delectable dish, particularly with gravy, and served along with a nice brisket.) Even mediocre fried rice features the vivid green, orange and yellow of peas, carrots and egg, respectively, that make the dish visually appealing. As a bonus, the entire, unappetizing pile was very DRY. Well, I tried to ignore the depressing (literally "monotonous") color, as well as my doubts about the provenance of the grain, but I just couldn't manage to enjoy the taste. Not even a moderate dose of sweet/sour sauce, mixed in, could rescue it. Being polite, I took most of it home -- but, for that mess, the destined "home" was the garbage disposal (a dark place, where I presume it felt right AT home).Well, Menomonee Falls has another much-touted Chinese place; I'll be trying that one, with fingers crossed . . . but I'll never return to poor old Harvey's. Five strikes is just four too many.

Visited for a nice dinner although reservations seemed to be incredibly important. Seated us in the back to watch what appeared to be child care area and they did occasionally stop by to take our order. Not the same restaurant that it was....

Food was just OK. Sweet Sour Chicken was edible, but not very flavorful. Beef and Broccoli had a brown gravy base that i would expect with American food, but not Chinese. Crab Rangoons were the worst. Deep fried to a brown crust and served with Cocktail Sauce??? I use cocktail sauce with shrimp. I would have preferred a sweet and sour red sauce list most other Chinese restaurants use.Not happy that I spent $45 for this food.

The food here is just not good. The fried rice is completely flavorless and the General Tso's chicken tasted like it had some kind of cleaning chemical in it. Avoid this place at all costs. Any other Chinese place in the area is better
