Halliday's is:*The place I go to get drinks before standing out in the cold for Red Light Ramen*The place where I once had too many drinks, causing me to miss out on Red Light Ramen*Your standard issue divey bar with video poker machines for "Entertainment Only"*Where the bartender kindly looks like other way so I can "carry out" my beer to wait in the cold for Red Light Ramen*Full of fairly wasted patrons who probably enjoy Nickleback*Not that bad, really!Let's be real - its the closest bar to Red Light Ramen - that is what you need to know, people.

I've always enjoyed bringing friends here because it is never busy. Yes it is an extreme hole in the wall so don't expect anything fancy. But that's exactly the type of place we like to hang at, so we can actually hear our conversations. However, I've been pretty disappointed lately. The last 2 times the blonde bartender was extremely rude. She wasn't happy to see anyone walk into the bar - she basically rolled her eyes after every drink order. She truly just did not want to be there. What really set me over the edge though, is when I ordered 4 beers - she grabbed my $20 and walked away. When she walked by I said, were these beers really $5 each? She rolled her eyes again, and said yes and walked away, wouldn't even let me explain myself. Now I understand in Milwaukee drinks are not cheap, but since I was at this bar a few nights prior, I knew $5 didn't sound right. I was drinking vodkas on the first visit and they were only about $4. How is a beer more expensive?I probably won't return due to rude customer service, and drink prices that change depending on how the bartender is feeling.

Stopped in Halliday's midday on a Saturday. It was literally just us in there which is fine with me-just very quiet! I loved the wood walls and up north feel to me. The bartender was very friendly and attentive to empty drinks and willing to join in our silly bar banter. The bar and bathrooms were very clean for a bar! I think it would be fun if it was a little more lively, I will definitely stop back to check out the patio.

Pretty standard "old school" Milwaukee pub. Atmosphere is not as dark as you would expect from the outside appearance. Standard beers on tap. Service from the bartender is efficient. Not a destination joint, but gets the job done if looking for a place to grab a drink in the area.

Came in here on a random Friday night, around midnight... I have walked past this place at least a hundred times, and never actually gone in.From the outside, it doesn't seem like anything special, but the inside is oddly charming and nice!It was a slow night, so there was only a single bartender, but she was friendly and made her drinks strong. So, the right way. It's a cash only bar, so I was lucky that it was a rare night I actually had cash on me... it's a split level set up, with two bars on each level, so there's plenty of room and bar space. One thing that really stuck out as a bonus was that while being polite, the server sternly refused to serve someone who came in, who was clearly overly drunk (stumbling, slurring), even when their more sober friend tried to order a drink for them. They became a bit rude, and she was able to shrug off their comments, while not antagonizing them, and they left without trouble after a few minutes. Bravo!I have no clue what it's like when it's busy, or if it ever gets busy, but I'd definitely come back if any of my friends were interested!

If seedy patrons that have been over-served is what you're into, you've found your place! It's a beer and a shot kinda place, nothing fancy. I've always felt welcome, but not too welcome if you know what I mean. Cash only, because of course it is.

So I've been to Halliday's twice now, just by chance both times. Every time I go there, I have a complete blast. The bar is always crowded with fun loving and enthusiastic people! It's a fantastic local, neighborhood bar.I don't remember the depth of their beer selection, but I recommend just grabbing a pitcher or two of Miller Lite and a seat at the bar... the fun and conversation will come to you. Both times I was at Halliday's my night ended with a few high-fives around the bar and requests from other other (more regular) customers that I come back.I really want to go back as a destination, rather than just a stop during the night. I'm sure I'll leave with some great stories and one hell of a buzz. Two thumbs up for Hallidays.

A janky fight club masquerading as a bar. Going there once was one time too many. It smelled moldy. The single employee was too drunk to serve customers (or keep her head upright). And there was a serious fight going on right inside the bar. Fortunately it didn't take more than two minutes to realize what a disaster this place is.

Calling it a DUMP is a giving it too much credit. The place looks and smells like it hasn't been cleaned since the 70's. The bartender was apparently half drunk. I stopped in to see if we could come by for a future pub crawl and gave the bartender my contact info. Apparently she then shared it with some random customer who emailed me drunken notes. WTF?! Now I know why no one was in there!
