GR's Sandwich Shoppe

It's been a year since I've been here and I am not from the area, but I cannot think of Janesville without thinking of GR's! This is one great little secret place when it comes to good sandwiches.It's very quaint and peaceful. The staff are attentive and friendly. The food is excellent and I love trying something new each time. Everything seems to just be more flavorful.Now I'm hungry thinking about it.....

Updating my very old review as I think they no longer use fresh turkey and unfortunately now it's just basic and not worth the trip.

I found this place when I was doing doordash, and I thought it was a neat little spot. I went back a few days later to order for myself, and it was fantastic. The food was so good and well priced.

The food was good (although messy) you could tell it was fresh. The girls taking my order we're all very sweet- they each checked up on me at least once while I was eating to ask if I needed anything. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect for a small sandwich shop. It's pretty quiet good for a family. I got a cbr (chicken bacon ranch) wrap. All the ranch fell to the bottom and dripped on me before the entire wrap fell apart- so make sure you get lots of napkins. I also got a brownie which was homemade and very soft. Overall a good experience and I would come again.

We had the Garlic Chicken and Chicken Bacon Ranch wraps... To die for! The chicken was so tender and juicy and everything had great flavor! We also had a side salad and tabouli, super fresh and flavorful. We will definitely be ordering again!

Reasons for giving four stars:I have found it soooo so difficult to find any good local places to dine at while in Janesville. It's actually very unfamiliar to me how there could be so few options, because Janesville isn't exactly the tiniest place on the map.I've visited this sandwich shop twice in the past week and intend to do so again at least once before I leave at the end of the week.The first time I went, I ordered a chicken/basil/tomato/cheese panini. It was really good! The price was completely fair for an acceptability sized panini. I also tried their iced chai latte which was also pleasant.This most recent time, I tried their salad with chicken in it. Aside from the fact that I wish the portion size was larger and that they could have added more vegetables, the chicken was good and it was a satisfying salad.It's a quant shop with some friendly faces that will take good care of you.It has never been a long wait to order my food nor to wait for it to be made. Next time I go back I'm definitely going for another panini.

Our family stoped in on our summer road trip; we were seeking out a sandwich shop that wasn't a chain. We were happy to enjoy generous kids grilled cheese sandwiches, Italian beef panini, and beef gyro. The food was hot and fresh and flavorful. The kids meals came with side, drink, and a tasty scoop of ice cream! Friendly staff and clean quiet shop.

Really great little spot just far enough from the main drag. Refreshing to get away from all the chain restaurants.Staff was young and did a great job. They knew the menu well. Portions were ample and prices were fair. Casual atmosphere.

I was very disappointed with my one and only visit. I was in town for a baseball tournament and was excited about the only place within 25 miles what had vegan options. I ordered the falafel wrap. It was awful. There was no hummus as there was supposed to be which made it very dry (falafel is already pretty dry so it needs something more typically). Then the falafel tasted freezer burnt and the wrap itself was DRY and way over cooked. So dry it instantly fell apart all over my lap. I ended throwing most of my expensive wrap away. I don't like posting bad reviews without giving the business an opportunity to make it right. I couldn't go back due to a time constraint so I sent a message right away. I waited about 36 hours and have not heard back.

Found this place looking for a quick sandwich while at a softball tournament nearby. They did not disappoint, very friendly service and the food was excellent. We ordered their special of the day a mushroom sandwich and one of their burgers with cheese curds, the food was so fresh and delicious. The cheese curds still squeaked when you ate them even though they were fried. I came back the next day for their version of a Chicago style hot dog, I loved how they made it their own with freshly chopped tomatoes and red onions on top of a perfectly cooked hot dog with celery salt and all the rest of the toppings. It was one of the best hot dogs I've had and we are from Chicago.
