I asked Dino from Mr. Dino's at Mayfair what the best Greek Restaurant in town is. He put me on to this place. I've been here a number of times and always get the combination plate, at least two meals. It consists of braised lamb (or gyro meat if you prefer), Greek potatoes, dolmades, a Greek green bean concoction that was great, pastitso, plus I went with the beef vegetable soup, bread came with and I had some fine vanilla ice cream. Lots of bang for your buck here. They make their own iced tea here as well though some higher end restaurants don't reach this quality (I'm looking at you, Lowlands Grand Cafes and Restaurants. Also Maria was our waitress and she couldn't be better. I'd like to give them an extra half star but they won't allow it.

We had Sunday breakfast here. We walked in had a very brief wait for a booth, We sat a a booth that was specifically set up for a table of 3 with ice water . We had a longer wait for service however the waitress did make sure to stop by the table to let us know that she is just finishing up with another table. Since it was my first time I didn't mind though it would have been nice to have coffee cups since flavored creme, butter and half and half was in small bowls. Give me time to read the menu and a few of the other yelp reviews while waiting. My sister ordered poached eggs, Canadian bacon, and pancakes. she enjoyed the eggs, and Canadian bacon. But the pancake was so so.The hash browns were cooked very lightly. Sausage gravy was made with sliced pieces of breakfast sausage links nothing spectacular I would have to say that I have had better from a can. The service is fairly good they could improve by checking on coffee levels more frequently. The water pitcher came around regularly. The busers were clearing tables throughout our meal but it was done loudly.

Ten us us had a 10:30-11:00 Saturday morning breakfast. The place was mobbed. We couldn't imagine how they were going to fit us together somewhere, but all of a sudden, the staff moved, tables were rearranged, and we were placed at a previously non-existing table. We had omelettes, skillets, crepes and a variety of kiddy-platters with piles of whipped cream and ice cream on the side. The portions for everything were ample, well-prepared, and quickly served. The waitress was outstanding. We were in and out in an hour. The prices for some items can be relatively high, but most platters require that you take half home. This restaurant is owned by the same family that used to have the Grecian Inn on the corner of Mayfair and North (now gone). The owner hopes to transform the lower level into a Greek speciality restaurant by renovating the downstairs kitchen to accommodate Greek-style cooking. With the closure of Mykonos downtown, there are few full Greek restaurants in the Milwaukee area, just very many Greek family-style restaurants with a few Greek items on their vast menus.

I went here for breakfast one time and it was your typical Greek Restaurant complete with glossy wooden booths and nursing home decorative wallpaper. One thing Greek Restuarants do is they market their products well. A picture of a Greek salad in their menu looked outstanding so I figured I better order it.Looks are deceiving, it looked good but tasted like plastic. It was really lousy. The salad dressing looked like a specimen from a fertility lab. I had a cup of chili which was not too bad. Lesson one: Greek joints can make a good breakfast and they probably will not louse up a burger. But when they try to make something, like food that Greek or complicated - forget it. For what you get, it is also kind of expensive. You can eat better at McDonalds for much less. Not too cool.

My office had a gathering in the lower level banquet room. Due to miscommunication, this turned out to be a negative experience. The owners were very rude to me and my guests. The lady co-owner was practically yelling and screaming with a very rude and nasty tone of voice. I asked if there was a different menu because the one I saw online had more choices and I wanted to order a variety of menu items for my 15-20 guests. She seemed very irritated and frustrated that I wanted to change the order, she swore up and down that she had spoken to me in person last week to confirm the order, and I told her it wasn't me because I never came and spoke to anyone in person, so she must have gotten me mixed up with someone else because I called in the reservation a few weeks ago. I had a gathering at this same place in the lower level last year and it was a private reservation with buffet style food service. I wanted similar arrangements on the selected date but was told it was fish fry night so I would be in an open style dining arrangement and was not able to have a private reservation. I was not aware that the menu choices would be different or limited. I thought I could order a variety of items from the same menu I saw online. I asked her what could we do to try to accommodate my guests at this company event, she said she would let us order from the menu upstairs and they would bring the food downstairs. Great! Things seemed to be going a little better. As my guests started to arrive, some of them were standing by the tables talking. I started to introduce everyone that was arriving to the people who were already seated at the tables. One of my guests sat at a different table and the lady started yelling saying she can't just sit where she wants! (in a very loud obnoxious rude nasty tone) So I told my guest to come over to our tables. Again, the lady owner was very rude and nasty tone of voice. At the time, the place was still empty other than my party, and there were about 10-12 empty tables. A few minutes later, the man owner called me over and told me to have a seat at my table and that me and my guests should be sitting down and not standing up by the tables. However, when the white guests were standing up nothing was said. But when the white guests left and the black guests were standing up, this is when we were told to sit down or move out of the way. This seemed like a nice place and the servers were very nice, but the owners acted horribly, very rude, unprofessional, not people oriented and definitely had some racial tension. What should have been a positive relaxing celebration for my office, turned out to be a negative experience at the Capitol Cafe Pancake House & Restaurant (formerly Grecian Inn).

I just went there for breakfast and ordered their 2 eggs breakfast. It tasted good. But after I finished half of my coffee I noticed the most disturbing thing I have ever experienced in a restaurant. A lipstick mark in my coffee cup. I'm a guy and I don't use lipsticks. So it must be from the person who used that cup before. It was terrible. I showed it to the server and asked " is this a lipstick mark on my coffee cup?" and he was not surprised at all. He was like "oh ya. Do you need a new cup?". I mean are you serious? You even need to ask me that? What did you expect me to say? Like " no I will keep drinking from this " ?? Luckily the person did leave the lipstick mark to tell me that they didn't wash the cup. What about the things that don't leave that distinct mark. Its up to you to decide whether to go there or not. I won't go again .

Another in a long line of great authentic ethnic food restaurants in/around Milwaukee. We went there with a friend who had a Greek grandmother, and he said the place would be able to stand up to her food.I had a roasted lamb dish with Greek-style potatoes; it came with both a starter (soup/salad) and a dessert. The soup I got was similar to what my husband's Italian family calls Tiny Pasta: Tomato soup with little pasta pieces in it--and fresh, hot, and tastey. The lamb was flavorful and the potatos done just right. Though, a word to the wise: The way the menu lists what comes with your dinner is not intended to indicate a choice... I thought I had to pick between the potato and the rice, so they left the rice off my plate. The selection of desserts that come with the meal was somewhat anemic: rice pudding (seemed like something they'd gotten in a mass-produced package), jello (cafeteria-style jello squares in a small dish), and other such commonalities. Based on how great the starters and entrees were, the desserts were something of a let-down.For the price, though, the quality of food is outstanding, and the ambiance just above casual, with a lot of Greek Gods and Goddesses stashed in various nooks and crannies. I'll definitely be going back.

My wife and I have been going to this diner for years and you cannot beat the breakfast for the price. The workers are so nice and over the years we've got to know them personally. Great food and even better people!

Love Grecian Inn food is fresh soup is good. Prices are high for your sou quart of soup to go. Overall prices are high but the food is real good quality wish they would lower the prices for the average person.
