I had stopped ordering from here a few years ago because the taste and quality of the food was declining. I was passing through and was craving Chinese food hard, and this happened to be on the way home so I decided to give them another try and I'm glad I did. The food was very tasty and my family and I enjoyed it. I ordered Lo Mein, Pepper beef, walnut shrimp, and bbq pork fried rice. The portions were large and enough for 2 meals. The food was tasty and not overly salty or oily. I hope the quality stays consistent the next time I order for I don't have to take another hiatus from this place again.

We've been coming for years and they are consistently great. Even the water is filtered, great ambience. Recommend the baby shrimp rolls and the won ton soup! Everything is good. Prices are great too!!

Finally tried the Gourmet House Chinese food. (Back in the day, this was a Julie Ann's ice cream place. )The food here is pretty good. We had it delivered and it was plenty hot when it arrived. The beef chop suey is ok, but a little different than what we're used to locally. The gravy isn't as thick and dark as most places. It also includes mushrooms and the miniature corn cobs. It was also too light on water chestnuts, which I love. Tasty, but just different than we expected. Next up is the General's Chicken, which is very good! The BBQ pork fried rice is really good as well. The crab rangoons were alright too. All in all, a very good dining experience at the Gourmet House.

Consistently delicious and reliable. We drive two towns over to order from Gourmet House, and will continue to do so! We love their stir fry chicken, egg drop soup, homemade crab Rangoon, and their fried rice. Never greasy, generous proportions, and friendly service. A++++!

Excellent food!! Owners are so nice also. I very much enjoyed my fried rice with al the meats, the appetizer for 2 and a small egg foo young. We had enough to feed 3 adults plus plenty of leftovers!!

I used to go to this restaurant once a week when I lived in Algonquin until January 2011. I don't live in the area but look forward to a visit now and then. Servings are huge and delicious. Good service also

Ambiance, well lit , not too noisy. Prices are fair and food is exquisite for Chinese cuisine. Several acquaintances who have frequented here say similar. Service is standard with most servers doing a little extra to make the service even better. 9/10 would recommend.

Should I say it? Oops we did it again? This place has the tendency to start skimping out on customers when business is going bad. You can complain all you want and you won't get an answer to satisfy you. Should I blame myself for ordering more? I ordered a large Lo Mein with extra veggies. EXTRA. What do I get when I open the box. Someone already took a plate full of food out of it?! If you order food, would you accept it when 1/3 of the food you ordered wasn't in the box? I want to remind the owners that they do have competition. They are not that good. They did these things under previous management, giving you a small box of rice claiming it was a large. Maybe they rehired the manager that was there before. Not a good look guys. Or is it my fault and I should have checked every box before taking it home to make sure it had the food I ordered in it?

This place is going down hill. We have learned that this place now has new owners who don't care about their customers. We ordered egg foo young and found what appeared to be packaging materials in the patties. Also the sauce was burnt sauce. We complained and the owner did not care or make the order right. We also noticed that the sweet and sour sauce and chili sauce that is given at the table is reused, meaning if we used a little bit they will give it to another table. Witness this when checking out very gross.
