Good News Ice Cream & Cafe

cannot believe after all my summers in madison this was my first time at Good News ice cream! I got the galactic blackberry (top) and blueberry lavender (bottom) which were the only ones I tasted bc I was nervous to ask for more. Galactic Blackberry had little berry chunks which was a pleasant surprise. Blueberry lavender was heavenly and almost reminds me of wildberry lavender from Jeni's. Definitelyy will be returning to try more fun flavors:)update: second time around got PB cup and biscoff cookie butter -- latter was absolutely delightful and I think I could eat it daily tbh.

This is just minutes away from the State Capitol which is very ideal for visitors like us who want to check off a our architectural appreciation of the Capitol and enjoy a sweet treat afterwards. Our group stopped by after lunch and tried the turtle sundae, latte, and blueberry honey lavender, brownie cookie dough, butter pecan, and chocolate ice cream flavors. The blueberry honey lavender has several layers of profile as indicated by its name and it really lived up to its name. Each layer was distinctive and there were bits of blueberries in the ice cream. The brownie cookie dough was cookie dough ice cream with brownie bits so it was overly rich and sweet. It seems like they change the flavors up from time to time. I look forward to what they will have in store the next time we visit!

Not me coming here twice in 2 days for dessert after most of my colleagues went back to the hotel...I was in Madison for a quick business trip, and we were downtown both nights for dinner. And Good News Ice Cream was the closest dessert place to it, that I ended up going both nights! I do agree with the other reviews. The service is really nice, but they are painfully slow. They really need to streamline their process and the flow. Instead of having one person getting ice cream for a customer and then ringing them up, why not have one person just scooping all the ice cream and having the other person doing the register? The first night, I got the blueberry lavender Honey Ice Cream. It was delicious. The lavender really complemented the honey and the blueberry. It had whole frozen blueberries in it as well. The second night, I got the mint chip, which I really enjoyed! It was super refreshing, and I liked the addition of whole chocolate chips. I got kid scoops both nights, and it was the perfect size for me after heavier dinners. They also have color changing spoons!I did try the fig & honey, which didn't taste like anything to me. The mango was also really creamy and had a good mango flavor. They also have coffee drinks, sandwiches, and donuts (which looked fantastic - only $1 for day old donuts). They also have nondairy options! I would definitely come back next time I'm in town.

We stopped by Good News Ice Cream & Cafe after lunch for a quick palette cleanse. I was in need of something refreshing to balance out the amount of salty food I had just eaten.This seemed like the perfect spot to stop by as it is located right off the square. We were in and out pretty quickly. The ice cream itself was really solid. Both the flavors were tried were super creamy but not overwhelmingly rich. One scoop was just the right amount for me. They had limited topping options as well but I personally felt like my ice cream held its own just plain.I would definitely return in the future to try out some of their other flavor options.

Everything tasted so real. Ice cream was fresh and creamy. Ingredients were super flavorful. Banana nut was my favorite flavor. Fig and honey and blueberry lavender honey were my other flavors. Both was really good. There was fresh lavender and blueberry in the icecrea, which I haven't seen before anywhere. Overall, this icecream place should not be missed if you are in Madison.

Loved this ice cream shop! It moves a bit slowly, when I went it was Wednesday night with only two workers. Took about 20 min to get my ice cream but the ladies working were friendly and efficient. The texture of the ice cream is smooth and creamy. I recommend the following flavors: figs and honey, blue moon, and butter pecan. They have kid sized scoops or regular sized scoops all at reasonable prices. The one scoop which includes two flavors was about $5.

My new favorite ice cream place in town !!!!!YUMMY...Such a cute spot with nice interiors. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They offer 9 unique flavors, of which 3 are vegan. Love the unique flavors, not your regular blue moon or Superman. Tried the Strawberry Balsamic, Vanilla Bean, and Cold Brew. Each one of them was fantastic. The ice cream is made in house and so are the cones. The vanilla bean is not your regular vanilla, it's intense and so good. The Strawberry one has a slight Tangy taste to it and I loved the frozen strawberries in it. The cold brew was just WOW!!!I can't wait to try the Mexican hot chocolate (spicy) and the Fig & Honey flavor next time. The ice cream is on the softer side so you don't feel heavy afterwards. Great addition to King St! Run, don't walk to this place!!!

Stopped in for ice cream on a cold and snowy night while visiting Madison. Delightful visit! Met the ice cream maker (maybe also the owner??) and got to try a couple of their amazing non-dairy flavors. The rest of the family had 'classic flavors' and all enjoyed. Ample portions! Highly recommend this cute and friendly spot.

This is a very tasty ice cream shop. They had a good variety of general and interesting flavors. I recommend.

My goodness is this ice cream exceptional! It's rich, creamy, and balanced and well worth the price. The workers there seemed a little annoyed with the customers, but it didn't negatively affect the experience to any great degree.
