When it was open it was good. However, it appears this place is permanently closed. As much as I would love to tell people to go here save yourself the trip.

I stopped at Goldcoast for a late lunch during my work day. The menu isn't expansive, so I only ordered the Pentagon Club (ham and turkey) with no onion or tomato. The sandwich had some heft to it. I was a little leery about paying $7.95 for only a 6 inch sub, but figured it's worth it at least once to try a place I haven't been to and I'm supporting a local small business. I felt better knowing it wasn't going to be tiny and potentially not worth the money size wise.I don't know if they overcompensated with the amount of lettuce because I asked for no onion and tomato or if the amount of lettuce I got is standard. Regardless, a quarter of it fell out of my sub and I ended up taking out another quarter because there was so much of it. I didn't care for the flavor of the mayo and I thought the sub was slightly on the salty side, maybe just from the ham, but maybe from the seasonings too. At least the bread, meat, and cheese were fresh. It's not my first choice for food in the area, but I wouldn't be opposed to stoping again and getting a sub without the mayo next time.

Ok I know that this is a Milwaukee cult classic sandwich shop so I decided to stop over for a sandwich for later and I ordered the 6" gourmet which is salami, bologna, mayo, cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato, special seasoning and oil. The place is a little dumpy and it's take out only through a plastic window. The menu is small for a sandwich shop I thought and no Italian option for some reason. The gourmet was in a clear bag with a twist tie which is original. My first thought was it on that sesame bread that I like so much and it was fresh. My second thought was that it's not meaty with 6 thin round slice spread over the length of the sandwich with 3 on top and 3 on the bottom so it's really one thin slice of meat on top and bottom. The toppings were fresh and lots of shredded lettuce covered in the special seasonings. The sandwich was was good but it's not my favorite sub in any way. At the price point that is in line with other sub shops I felt that the 6 inch sub was skimpy on the meats, see my pictures. I'm probably not going to be back because bologna and salami are not expensive cold cuts so I expected more on my sandwich which was 95% bread and veggies a

I've always been a big "don't buy a sandwich when you go out to get food because you can make that at home" kind of gal. Despite this, the BF dragged me to Goldcoast. If a simple sub shop can stay in business for so long, they must be doing something right. My foodie snobbery was unimpressed the first time I entered the shop, but I was reassured that this was one of those phenomenal, no-frills establishments.I ordered (past, present, and future tense, truly) the Gobbler and was perplexed when I received it. Could this really be an A+ 10/10 sub? The bread is white, the meat is meat, the veggies are your run of the mill veggies, and I think the cheese is Kraft singles. The subs are served in a plastic bag. But HOLY BALLS, guys, get one of these ASAP. I never realized how integral seasoning could be on a sub. Affordable, tasty AF, messy but not too messy, and it's not deep fried so I don't feel bad about eating it. A true Milwaukee establishment. You WILL get hooked and you will not accept subs from any other shop ever again (screw JJ's, man--haven't been there in over a year).Downside is that their hours can be a little strange. Look them up ahead of time and make sure you're looking at the hours for the correct location. The Burnham shop is my home base and I will go out of my way to go to this location!

Gold coast subs are excellent, love the seasonings they use on all their subs sandwiches. Can't go wrong with the sub in the plastic bag, I prefer them over suburpia

After hearing about this place for years, I FINALLY had a chance to stop in here, and boy am I glad I did, the sandwiches were fresh and tasty, and priced quite well compared to other sandwich shops. I did take the food to go, seeing how the restaurant itself didn't come off as inviting to sit in for lunch. But sometimes you just go places for the food, and this is a place like that, and a place I will be coming back to!

When I first moved to Milwaukee, I didn't know a whole lot about the area. At one point I had a co-worker that decided he would show me the area, and make sure I knew where to eat. This was a good thing, because knowing the good places from the get go meant I wouldn't have to worry about too many bad experiences!I'd eaten at a few sub shops before, and they were pretty run of the mill. What I found here was a taste that I have still to experience somewhere else. Even through the fog of my memory, I remember it sticking out as one great place to eat.Over time I forgot the location of this fine place. As luck would have it, during some recent construction I was diverted down a side street (annoyed as I may have been) and stumbled upon this fine little West Allis gem!If you've had enough of the big sub places, and are looking for something fresh - give Gold Coast Subs a shot. It may not look like much, but they have some pretty tasty things happening here.

Went here with a local friend (I'm from California) based on the good review(s).Very modest in appearance, the menu is fairly small.I ordered the turkey/ham and was a bit surprised when I was informed that they didn't carry mustard. The sub itself was good, the bread fresh and the toppings balanced. The main drawback is that they put a LOT of oil on their subs. I don't have anything against oil and vinegar, but there was so much oil that it totally soaked through two paper plates and was all over my hands. As a result the flavor of the sub was a bit more oily than anything. The best part of the meal was the brownie I got for dessert. It was the kind with the cheesecake swirls through it, and it was fantastic. Probably earned this review an extra star, even.In short, if you like a good if fairly standard sub, ask for light oil and you'll probably be satisfied.

The premium meats and fresh vegetables aren't a big deal...neither are their delicious chips. The secret is in the spices. Each sub is seasoned with its own special blend of spices, giving each it's own unique flavor. They're a local business that gets all their supplies from other small, local business...they even have local Sprecher products. Feel good at this place!
