I have heard mixed things about this place but had to try for myself. So glad we did! We went on Valentine's night. We started with guacamole, which was good! My husband got the steak chimichanga and I got the taco dinner with the Coca Cola chicken. His was perfectly made and delicious. My two taco dinner was plenty for this big eater. The Coca Cola chicken is very spicy so be advised (I like it that way!). We each had a margarita (yum) and split an order of flan for dessert. They must have checked in with us every several minutes and the family pride is evident in every aspect of the experience. I hope you like it as much as we did!

I want to like this place. Family run. Decent food. Quick and friendly service. But they are becoming a victim to inflationary costs and may have priced themselves out my comfort level. All of the steak costs have spiked and a small carne asada is now $23.50 and steak fajitas are $21.50. I'm not sure if chips are free, but to add a $1 avocado for guacamole is now $8. Prices are marked on the menu, so pay more attention than I did. As others have mentioned, they are adding 3% to your bill if you debit or credit. I'm just not a fan of this practice. A place near the tracks in Lake Villa does this and I'm kind of avoiding them now. A family dinner for three checks in at $90, which I just can't justify paying for a place like this. It's a tough and expensive market out there these days. I'm just going to sit this out until things come back to reasonable - if they ever do.

Have been driving by this place almost daily on my way to work and finally decided to stop in and so glad I did. Surprised there are not many reviews yet! The margaritas were pretty good, wish they had a few more flavors to choose from though like "jalapeño margarita"??? I had the burrito Suezo and it was great, and very large. I got just the burrito and passed on the beans and rice, and it was HUGE, and still had half of it left over. My husband got the 4 tacos and tried the Mexican sausage, coca-cola chicken, and rib eye. Felt the coca-cola was by far the best, I've heard a lot about coca-cola chicken but never tried it, definitely had a depth of flavor! The service was great, staff were at our table often asking if we needed anything. Ambiance was also nice, I look forward to visiting when it's warmer so we can sit outside on the patio! Kudos to this place, they're doing great! (Just hoping to step up the margarita game a little!)

Pretty pricey for what you get. My husband got the carne asada burrito and said it was gross (meat was tough, no flavor) and my son got a stomach ache after his burrito but the others were ok. The portion size is tiny compared to what you pay for it. I might try this place again in the future, but probably not. Also, they charge extra if you use a credit card. Thumbs down.

Very good quality home made Mexican food. The family treats you well too. Awesome customer service & Genuinely nice people as well. Can't wait to come back !The owner lady was so nice to my family & grandkids too.*****

Finally good Mexican food in the area!! The owner is a class act! I will be coming here every time I'm in the area!

This was our first time eating here tonite. The food was delicious and the service was amazing! I highly recommend El Suerno! We will definitely be coming back to try more of their awesome menu items!

Ok I truly believe everyone at this establishment takes nice pills! So kind. So attentive. Not intrusive but there when your drink is almost empty or your cash is out to pay. Actually amazing and almost intuitive. Lol. Seriously though, best Mexican food in the area. Great service and fabulous margs!!I have been here several times and never been disappointed.
