This was my first time trying El Salvador with a friend. We had heard so many great things about their pupusa's and we wanted to try them for ourselves. They were absolutely delicious so if you are looking for a Pappas said this is your spot in the Milwaukee area. The inside is small, but we received good service and their condiment portions were of a large size which I always love. Their sour cream is made with like a Coquita cheese it was really good. The salsa was also really good not too hot at all so good for everybody. Their steak burrito was delicious. Everything was really good. I will be back for sure. We went around lunchtime and it wasn't busy.

El Salvador is a hidden gem in the Milwaukee area. If you want authentic Salvadorian food this is your spot. The place is small and cozy, the staff is always friendly. The pupusas are delicious they are served with curtido and salsa salvadoreña. My favorite are pupusas de queso, asada or the chicharrón ones. I love to enjoy my pupusas with an ensalada de frutas (mixed fruit drink) I definitely recommend this spot you won't be disappointed.

Delicious made from scratch especially the soups (sopas). Sopa marisco extremely delicious with mussels, salmon, shrimp and calamari. Simply out of this world. Also tortillas were all home made - all slightly different shapes. The pan fried fish was fresh, crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It is rare to go to a restaurant on Christmas Eve to find everything made from scratch. Just superb. Some customers were saying that the service is not the best - well, they have just a couple of people serving everyone. That day, it was full with five tables eating. As far as I am concerned, we received good service. We received our delicious food on time and our take-outs. As far as the food is good, and service okay, I am not complaining.

Small restaurant right off the freeway. The service was fantastic and the food was pretty good. I would like to come back and try something new. Definitely feels like you're in El Salvador though! They did not have many of the beers listed just fyi.

The pupusas were small, dry and no much flavor. They are expensive. In California the pupusas are double the size and cheaper. In addition I purchased a Campesino breakfast, the plain rains were so dry with no flavor. I will not come back to this restaurant.

This place was terrible in person, it smells awful as if the tables don't get cleaned. I even decided to stay and try their food which was actually good (popusas) the staff were very unfriendly and didn't offer my toddler any water out of courtesy. Most places give you a cup for every person. The walls looked disgusting and the bathroom was horrendous.

Workers are very kind and prompt with food orders. Sometimes no cheese is on the pupusa but I should remember to specify!

WORD OF WARNING, IF YOU ARE BLACK THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU!If you are ever in the Milwaukee area avoid this place like the plague. Don't even worry about the food, the personnel at this restaurant are the rudest, nastiest, crudest people you will ever encounter, not to mention blatantly racist. My spouse and I were in Milwaukee for a holiday weekend. We had a lovely time and I would recommend Milwaukee as a whole to anyone wanting to visit. Everywhere we'd been in the city, up until going to El Salvador Restaurant, was wonderful. I was so impressed that everyone was so kind and welcoming. I am Afro-Latino and my spouse is Central American. As a surprise I wanted to take him to a restaurant that served food that approximated that of his native Honduras. Both of us are Spanish speaking, so make no mistake, this was not about language or culture. From the time we walked in the door the woman working there looked at me like I was poop on the bottom of her shoe. It was very, very, evident that my colour was a problem for her. Forget seating us, she acted as if we were bothering her and as if simply talking to us was a burden. I was prepared to endure it all to please my partner, but even he was put off. Her attitude, the look of disgust and annoyance on her face chased us away, never to return. If you have any self respect at all, stay away. If I could give them less than one star I would.
