I'd known of EJ's for a while, but hadn't gone because they're tucked away off the route I usually go. It wasn't until recently when they started to actively promote themselves on social media that I thought of them before others as a place to try. I called in an order of fried haddock with potato pancakes and mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. I also ordered an extra piece of haddock. The food was ok. The the mozzarella sticks looked homemade but the potato pancakes did not. It weirded me out that the haddock was in little pieces instead of traditional sized pieces. The breading didn't have much flavor, which was a shame given how much fish there was. When I asked for the extra piece of fish, I was told by the person that answered the phone that they didn't know the cost as they were just helping out that night. I (unfortunately) didn't press for an answer because extra pieces at other restaurants are typically close to $3 and I was ok with something in that ballpark. To my utter shock, the bill showed the extra piece (or pieces) was an outrageous $9. Never in my wildest dreams would I pay $9 for an extra piece of fish, especially when the haddock dinner itself was only $11. I should have refused the extra piece when I found out or just left without any of the food, but sadly I didn't. It also would have been nice had they waited to make the extra piece(s) until I got there and could inform me that it was $9. I absolutely would have said no thanks at that point.Note, EJ's is cash only. They do have an ATM, but I don't know what the fees are for using it.

Great place for a cold drink and great burger. Very nice place and can't wait to go back. Bartender/cook was super nice. Very local patrons. Wisconsin at its best!

Sometimes you just need a bar on a lake for a couple drinks. This place is far from posh, trendy, cool, or hip. This is a bar on a lake. Most esoteric beer I could find was a Spotted Cow or Stella. After that, they seem to traffic a fair amount of lite beer. The lighter and colder the better. They also did not have any citron vodka, not a big deal, vodka with lemon will do.Been twice now and both times been very welcomed by employees and patrons. Seems like quite a nice local dive bar to go play the machines, shoot some pool, or drink some Lite beer. They have food too. We did not partake or witness, but a well fed gentleman at the bar endorsed the steak sandwich and the prime rib sandwich.

Washington County's biggest fish fry secret. It's not 5 star dining, but why would you want that.

I know I'm biased already as I live down the road and this is "my dive bar"! foods decent, drinks are cheap, patrons are typical country folk, free pool on Thursday plus dollar tappers how do you go wrong! Has an odd smell and it won't win any beauty pageants! Jukebox is surprisingly very modern and new. Good time always, good video slots too but they pay out the next day! Love me some EJs!

I went to EJ's because of the many ads I've seen for it on Facebook. Wasn't sure if they were trying to increase business, or if they were just "that good". Even though it is not a smoking facility, the smell of cigarette smoke was overwhelming. The only people in there at lunchtime were five 60 something year old males, sitting at the very small bar, talking loudly about everything from politics to blow jobs. Service was average. The french fries were good. The burger was greasy, I ordered a mushroom Swiss...living in Wisconsin you would think Swiss would be real cheese. I don't know what was on the burger, it was not Swiss, I'm not sure it was cheese. The mushrooms were canned. This is fine, as long as you heat them up on the grill, these were not heated. If all you want is a cold beer and some good french fries, and you're not offended by vulgar conversation, this is the place for you. Would not recommend this place for children.
