We stopped in during the second week of being open and they are still working out the kinks. I appreciate this is very much a family run operation with three generations working there. One note is that while it's in their name, there is no beer or alcohol available. This is due to state statutes that prevent liquor/beer sales if employees under a certain age. The set up is interesting-order at the pit where they weigh it, go to a counter to order sides and pay and then walk outside to either leave or enter another door for indoor dining. For meat options beef, pulled pork, chicken, ribs and a meatloaf special were available. Of the choices, the ribs were the best. The others, unfortunately, were quite dry. I was surprised that the beef option was a smoked chuck rather than a traditional brisket. It was my least favorite. I feel a smoked sausage would do well as option. The sides were just ok. The most confusing part was the mac and cheese was packaged to go separately with plain noodles in one cup and a cheese sauce (reminiscent of beer cheese) served separately. The baked beans were peppery and smoked and I would order again. The packaged BBQ sauces were small and thick in consistency. From a food perspective, I was underwhelmed. Having lived in Texas, I get what they are trying to go for and I respect the family aspect so I am giving a rating that takes this into account. With a lake house in the area, I am hoping the bbq improves as I would be a frequent customer.

One of the best trays of pulled pork I've had in a while. Perfectly cooked, served with a smile and great tasting.. After eating there, there's no surprise that their food sells out. My son had the chicken (loved it) and my daughter, the pulled pork with beans. We're all wondering when we can make it back. This place is must go!

Great Smoked flavor on the pork and chicken. Ribs have good flavor, but lack fall off the bone. Great sides and will definitely be back in the future. Loved the Jolly Time soda selection!

Service was great and we enjoyed our entrees. The chips for the nachos could be better but other than that it was a great meal during the evening storm.

If you are looking for fall of the bone ribs, this isn't the place. The rub and smoke flavor were good but the ribs were tough. The beef isn't a brisket so that part was disappointing as well. The most disappointing part was the sauces. Instead of your usual bbq sauce the ones we got had a tomato paste consistency and the flavor was average at best. I don't know if this was because we got the sauces to go and they were in a refrigerator but I have never had a bbq sauce that was that thick.They are a new business so I hope they can work out the kinks as i would love to have a nice bbq place nearby.

I was driving through the kettle moraine in Wisconsin and made a wrong turn in Dundee Wisconsin. I pulled into a paring lot to turn around and I saw the sign which said Dundee Mountain BBQ and Brew. I stopped got up put of the car and checked out the place. It was locked. A gentleman told that they opened in an hour at 11:00 am. I said that I had to pickup my wife and so couldn't wait. After a little arm twisting he agreed to serve me meat and chicken.I should add that (1) this is the first time I was ever in Dundee Wisconsin and (2) I travel extensively and have had barbecue in Chicago Memphis Kansas City and Texas numerous times.THe owner opened a big smoker and asked what I wanted. He proceeded to cut off several slices of meat and a piece of chicken.This is the Texas style where you order however many meat t slices or ribs you want and it is weighed. THe meat was flavorful and Juicy. The meat was so tasty that sauce was superfluous. The chicken was done perfectly.The meat could easily compete with the meat from Lockhart Texas. Interestingly the owner came by to talk and told me that he had spent some time actually in Lockhart learning about the Texas style.This is really authentic Texas barbecue that you really can't find in the midwest.Mark H Gonzalez MD
