a grocery store filled with food
shelves of canned food

This would be good with leftover chicken I'm thinking.

After finding the Mexican restaurant closed a couple doors down I saw this deli and I hoped to get some lunch here but unfortunately they don't serve prepared food and it's really more of a Serbian convince store. The guy who greeted me said that they don't have any hot or prepared food so I said well since I'm here I would grab a couple items anyway. I asked him if he could tell me more about the some of the soup packages because I have used the meat seasoning many times with great outcomes. I thought the dumpling soup would be great with some leftover chicken so I grabbed it. The cream of mushroom soup package had the possiblity of a meatloaf idea I could tinker with so I grabbed that.I love browsing the ethnic grocery stores while looking up and down the isles for different items to cook with, I have enjoyed all of the items from my ethnic store stops. If you want to get off the beaten path of cooking than start visiting the ethnic stores that Milwaukee has to offer and try something new.

D & S Deli is a lovely little Serbian shop with just about anything (from ex-Yugoslavia) your heart desires. It's only a couple aisles wide, but you can find plenty of great products imported directly from the Balkans. Among other things, they offer canned pâté, bags of ground Turkish coffee, Kraš chocolates and cookies, Cockta and carbonated water, CDs, DVDs and magazines. You can also get concert tickets when famous singers come over from abroad. My friend and I both purchased some smoked meats and Bananko. There was another type of banana candy that the man working the place recommended. We liked it a lot and I'm sad I can't remember the name. I was actually surprised to see about five types of these candies and they were pretty cheap. It's even cheaper if you buy a large box!I mostly visit these types of stores in Chicago because it's more convenient and some of them have a larger selection; however, I'm very glad the Milwaukee area has a good place for people to go when they seek something a little different than the plethora of Polish and German delicatessens. My friends live nearby and were so excited when they found this. They made it a point to bring me here and I'm glad they did! I will probably come back and I know they will for sure.

It's funny to think of this place as a "find" because it's been in this location for over 20 years, but I just dicovered it. I live only five blocks from it, but never noticed it. The owner's son is very helpful and, although not being Serb myself, helped me find stuffed cabbage, cevaps, roast pork, veal sausage, pure peach and strawberry juices, pork patties and many more things. They may have all the business they need, but some more advertising will help them get more customers. I tell everyone I know about it.

My Serbian boyfriend Simo came to Rochester, NY to visit me this weekend and brought cevaps and burek. The cevaps were absolutely delicious and very flavorful. He and I made them from scratch last time he was here so it was good to compare them. I just wish we had a Serbian shop here in Rochester, NY. Thanks for all your hard work in making these popular Serbian dishes.Marie D.Rochester, NY

So glad to have a Serbian deli here is Milwaukee. I love Serbian food, and am happy to have a place to buy ingrediants for a meal, or buy the meal already prepared. Fresh roast pig on Sunday mornings. Yum!!!

This little deli is a quaint shop where you can get lots of European specialties. On weekends, they sell home made bread, cheese or meat pita and if you order ahead, you can get BBQ lamb or pig. It doesn't get any better than that!
