Great place to go in Rockford for breakfast or to get baked goods. It has coffee along with avocado toast and more. Crust & Crumbles is one of the businesses located in the City Market, a collection of locally owned places. Has a small but well balanced menu of breakfast and lunch items. The place is pretty small inside with some window seating making it best for small groups to get something. Came at breakfast and there was room at the window for eating. It's pretty hard to find room in here. The dining area outside the cafe is another option. It's about $2.50 for coffee. Of course there's not a lot, but what they do have is good though. Last time I got the Ethiopian blend. We also got the Avocado Toast. It's about $8 for a loaded piece of bread. This had arugula, feta which I left off, homemade tomato and pepper jam, pickled onions, and tomatoes. Here's a great place especially at breakfast. It can have pretty long lines, so maybe call to place an order. The breakfast menu has coffee and pastries, and there's options for meat eaters and vegetarians.

The vanilla bean cruffin was delightful! The vanilla bean custard filling was so tasty and the croissant layers were perfectly flaky! I would come back and try the matcha flavor; my friend got this one and said it was too good. The service is fast, and though the storefront is easy to miss, if you can get street parking you'll be in and out in a jiffy.

Who would have thought this little gem is nestled in downtown Rockford. We love to find a business we have never been to. Found this on Yelp and thought we had to try. We knew when we had to stand in line, it was going to be good. There is a menu with a great selection of breakfast sandwiches or anything behind the glass in my picture. We decided to get a breakfast biscuit with egg ham cheese and a sprinkle of maple syrup. A pastry with mixed fruit and a loaf of bread to take home. This breakfast sandwich just melted in your mouth with a buttery flavor from the biscuit and a sweetness from the syrup. We shared that on our drive home and also sampled the mixed fruit pastry. That did not make it home either. My new favorite place. You can order to go or sit down there. The staff were so helpful and many items i probably missed. You must try. Parking is right on Madison Street.

They have the most amazing pastries! I literally dream about them! So many fruit and chocolate options but make sure to go early in the morning because they are popular and run out fast! Everything is made fresh daily and my favorite is the Peaches and Cream pastry. PSA: they have vegan options available on certain days and OMG the croissants are incredible.

Went here on a Saturday morning for breakfast while exploring Rockford. The place was pretty busy with people waiting for their food, but there wasn't really a line to order so we placed ours right away. The plus is that there is a communal space to wait in and eat, so there weren't as many people inside the shop. The lady who took our order was quick to explain what all of the baked goods sitting out were and then told us there would be a 20ish minute wait on prepared food. We had time to kill, so we figured the wait wouldn't be that bad.We ended up ordering a mushroom and leek quiche with greens, a chocolate cruffin, and a coffee. I was excited to see that they use Colectivo coffee out of Milwaukee. As for add-ins, they seemed to only have half-and-half and oat beverage. It did end up taking a while for the quiche to come out, which I was kind of surprised by, given it should already be made. Overall it tasted fine. It was more of a custardy quiche and the crust was pretty buttery and salty. Pretty good price at $5 for the quiche with salad. The chocolate cruffin has a great texture with a crispy outside and soft interior. There is a nice lamination on the dough. The chocolate cream filling was tasty and complemented well and wasn't overly sweet. That was a good thing given the cruffin is coated in sugar. Overall, they seem like a pretty decent bakery. Prices are standard for the goods sold and all of the baked goods looked Instagram worthy. Staff was super friendly even under the stress of the rush. Worth a stop if in the area again.

This is in the City Market and has no outside signage. There is some high-table seating, but you may do better outside in the shared tables/chairs between the various City Market businesses. The biscuit sandwich has no vegetarian option, but they'll make you one without meat. Tasty biscuit; the cheese is American and if I order again I'll ask them to make it without the syrup (!); syrup on eggs and cheese was a little weird. We tried the cheddar/jalapeno pastry; the lemon blueberry; and an apricot almond. All good; all held up fairly well (we were travelling to somewhere else).
