I am obsessed with this recent find! The town of Newburg has several little bar & grills on their main drag so I thought I'd walk the dog while trying a few spots for drinks. They have a large back patio that is thankfully dog friendly. The first time I stopped in was a Tuesday during their taco special. This was such an incredible deal! The tacos are absolutely huge. My husband got the prime rib sandwich which has the best au jus I've ever tasted. Of course I had to get one of their creative homemade cheesecakes. That night they had a blueberry cobbler cheesecake that was phenomenal. They've also had flavors like bourbon peach, coconut rum, white chocolate blueberry, and even a brandy old fashion cheesecake! I've started stopping in just for the cheesecakes. In addition to great food and atmosphere, they also host entertainment like bands and even a magician on certain nights. Service was fine. The night I went for tacos I think it might have been the owner that served me and he was so sweet and attentive. Other than that instance, it's been decently busy.

Sometime between my last visit 11 months ago and when I stopped again two days ago, Cork 'N Barrel decided to no longer serve all-you-can-eat perch. Since that was the sole reason for my my recent visit, that didn't start my dinner off on the right foot. With all-you-can-eat perch no longer an option, I went with the all-you-can-eat cod. I'm sure perch may have been on the menu in a non-all-you-can-eat capacity, but I was hungry for more than just a couple of butterflies of perch by the time I got there. The cod itself was fine. Maybe a little on the salty side, but thankfully not quite as wet as most other places that serve fried cod. For what it was it was adequate, but certainly not worth driving out of your way like I did from Germantown, which was half an hour. The potato pancakes were a little burned on the bottom, but somehow didn't taste burned. Instead, they were very good plain and even better when dipped in syrup. The applesauce was on the bland side and wasn't worth using with the pancakes.Another annoyance was that in the bar area there were three TVs, two of which were off and one was playing classic rock music through the connected speaker system. Well not everyone may be a baseball fan, especially of the teams that were playing (Astros and Yankees), there was an elimination game in the American League Championship Series on during my visit. It seemed like an absolute waste to not be showing it even muted on one of the two TVs that were off.If you happen to find yourself in the middle of nowhere near Newburg, Cork 'N Barrel is not the worst place you could go for dinner. Don't bother driving out of your way to go there, though, now that the only thing that made them unique is gone.

After a day of cooking soups we broke away for a minute. Andy AJ Degnitz, Linda Degnitz joined Cindy and I for wings in Newburg at Cork N barrel. Three of us ordered the parm wings, Cindy of course had a salad supplemented with my wings. It was exceptional, a smooth creamy garlic, not pungent at all. Truly enjoyed what Val put out for us. Nick came in and after my third bourbon, I tried the smoked Manhattan, made by the boss himself, it was Devine. I really enjoy the upscale friendly feeling for our very limited downtime. Though it was only a couple of hours, it was well spent. Thank you Nick Kertscher and staff for a pleasant night. Also the outside dinning area where they play music is just wonderful. The fire pit is an awesome site, the photo I took did not work out or I would show you. If you feel better being outside during Covid , this is a great option for you. Please remember places like this are doing everything they can to ensure you a great experience. Support local, we do.

We love coming to this restaurant. Service is great, food is great. We love seating outside. The owner is there every time, and always asks if everything is good. I have gluten allergy, and confirmed everything with cook before.
