Some of the food was good and some not so good.What happened to this place?Food scores:Egg Roll gets a 1 Looks like one, no flavor, no internal structure.Crab Rangoon gets a 2 At least it hade the flavor, just not much filling.Steamed Dumplings gets a 3. Not sure what the paste looking substance was but it tasted like it should.General TSO, Lo Mein, and Sweet and sour Chicken scored much better they get a 4.5.I'm not going to tell you to stay away. Just be cautious as to what you order.

I order from New China on a regular basis for lunch while at work which is around the corner. I have to says their food is consistently good, very fast service and they have a lot of great options on the menu.It is fast food carry out chinese food at a good value.For my vegetarian friends - two of my favorites are: Tofu with Mixed Vegetables or Vegetable Moo Shu are my favorite two dishesShrimp with Vegetables are my goto.I think the rating are not correct on China House. I know a lot of my teammates from where I work from love it here as well. I would definitely recommend giving them a try, I'm way picky and never had a bad experience. Just my 3 cents!

Ordered take-out the House Special Lo Mein it was pretty bad no sauce/gravy it was so sticky and dry couldn't even identify some of the green items will never go back! Plus egg rolls had raw dough at the ends. I only went there cause it was Monday and Plum Garden was closed. Don't waste your money or time if I could give no stars I would!

On Sunday, July 28, 2019 I was visiting a friend in McHenry, and the 3 of us ordered food from the China House. From the person who took our order over the phone to the food itself, it was one awful experience. It all began with the woman who answered the phone and took my order. She was short-tempered, rude and became annoyed when I asked questions about the ingredients of various dishes. When I asked if she could please make sure that hot mustard and sweet and sour packets were placed in the bag, she actually YELLED at me saying "I don't need to tell her how to do her job because they always give those packets". I was flabbergasted by her rudeness and shortness of answering my ingredient and packet questions. When the food came, it was sub-par and I'm being kind. The egg rolls were doughy and hardly had any filling, the King Pao Chicken was bland and the egg foo young was cold. Save yourself some money and pick another restaurant if you're in the area.

Their food is always delicious! My mother in law called her garlic shrimp dish "exceptional!" They always deliver it quickly. This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the area.

I would rate this restaurant a zero if that were an option. I went in to order food, wait, and bring it home. I told them my order, paid, and got home with one order completely missing. I called to tell them, and the man who answered the phone told me that I was wrong, that I did not order the other meal. I told him that I did in fact order the meal and would like it delivered to me. He hung up on me, I called back and asked for a manager and he said no and hung up again. called back again, asked for an owner, he hung up on me. We did this 5 times, and he told me no each time and hung up. This is the WORST customer service I have ever received!!! What he should have done was correct HIS MISTAKE, and made the customer happy. I have worked in restaurants my whole life, and would have never expected this type of behavior! I will never recommend this place to anyone because of this man's behavior!!!!!!

Ordered the Mongolian Beef & Beef w/Snow Peas lunch special. Right out of the gate, they messed up my order; they gave me Shrimp w/Snow Peas instead. Mongolian Beef is not as hot as a lot of the Chinese restaurants I've eaten at, but the portions of beef were very small. (mostly vegetables & rice) Vegetables were fresh, but I was disappointed with their pork egg rolls. The dough tasted old.Finally, the pickup area looks really run down & is in desperate need of remodeling. I'm very concerned this will be turn off for customers.
